General Surgery Releases Split With Butcher ABC

Swedish metal band General Surgery has issued the following statement about a split album with the Japanese band Butcher ABC:

"General Surgery/Butcher ABC split is finally released. The story goes back all the way to 2003 (!) when we got asked by then Escorbuto Recordings president Johan Wallin if we would be interested in doing a split with Japanese gore maniacs Butcher ABC.. Naturally we were, and we planned to do it pretty much right after the split 7"s we did with Machetazo and Filth. After that, things got changed up and we found ourselves working on our first album instead, and it wasn't until May 2007 we got around to finally record the songs for this split. By this time it was decided that the release would be handled by Obliteration Records and Living Dead Society/Coperaction Records. Butcher ABC followed suit and recorded their material later in 2007, and finally here's the result, the most anticipated split release ever. Feast your ears on this putrid mess.

The CD will be out on Obliteration on Jan 11th 2009. The LP will be out on Living Dead Society/Coperaction Records, February 2009. Vinyl 12" LP version is a limited edition to 1000 copies in splatter vinyl, with different cover/artwork from the CD version."

The band has also announced the following U.S. Tour dates: More...

The New Black Posts Live Video Online

German band The New Black has issued the following statement about a new live video being posted online:

"Dear Blackies and Blackettes!

So you heard some stuff, but you also want to see those five hot dudes in black pants rocking out? You want to see Günt shake that mane, you want to see war faces and shred, baby, shred?

OK, here we go: To get us all over to Jan 23rd when our debut "The New Black" finally sees the light of day, we dug out some footage from a Sep '08 show, filmed by the one and only Bomber at the B-Hof in Würzburg, our home base of sorts, where we played our first show and where we rehearse (if we do, haha).

So here's "Not Me", which you probably haven't heard before, a little fight song, in a nice bootleg style video from a small and sweaty club show. It's live, baby, so expect it to sound even better (er, yeah) on the album."

Gojira Posts New Video For "All The Tears" Online

Gojira are now disclosing the band's brand new video "All the tears." It was directed and made by Spanish artist Jossie Malis.

Drummer Mario Duplantier comments "We first came accross Jossie 's work with his astounding animated films : Bend It to Machine (www.benditomachine. com) and we really liked the way he told stories in a very mysterious and unusual manner. His enigmatic animations deal with serious issues and are yet always permeated with a sense of poetry. We, as music writers, are trying to mix very different emotional atmospheres. We are happy to present a visual / audio work that gathers the sort of brutality of our music with the sensibility of his drawings."

Just For Fun

A Chart of Heavy Metal Band Names

Someone has spent some serious time putting together this extensive chart, which fits names of heavy metal bands into five main categories of death, deadly things, animals, religion, and badass misspellings, and further breaks them down and combines them from there. You can take a look at the chart here.

The author definitely has a sense of humor too. See "triple umlat," the animals track leading to "party animals" and "adolescent poetry" for examples (among others).

Flaw Guitarist and Possibly More Members Depart

Flaw and guitarist Nathan McDaniel have gone their separate ways following a not-so-friendly MySpace bulletin, which has since been deleted. Whoever is in control of the band's MySpace, which seems to be McDaniel, has posted the following message about recent events:

"The WHOLE truth

"Keep hearin rumors that we were actually kicked out. I'm sure thats what Volz and his cronies are telling everybody to try and save face. If you did not read the bulletin before I'll make sure its here for all to see. We left the band because Chris Volz is a drunken, woman beating, lying, washed up waste of a human being. I'm sure money hungry vultures will jump into our spots just to try and make a name (what a name to have) or go somewhere. It took me finding out for myself but FLAW is in fact a fucking joke now.

"And just to let you guys in on another fact. All of the new songs any of you heard on the road after jay left, are mine and Tylers and some of them Van's (our former bass player) - Indifferance, Uncurled, Last December and most of Believe In Me. So enjoy a buncha shitty versions of our songs. And please buy a lotta albums so they have some money to pay us when we sue their asses off.

"Keep on checkin. More goodies to come in about a week. And no, you cannot have the Password to this site..hahaha(inside joke)"

It is unclear at the moment if drummer Terry Harper and bassist Tyler will remain a part of the band, although the message above would suggest otherwise.

Flaw is expected to release a new studio album in 2009.
