Soulgate's Dawn Signs w/ Bastardized Recordings

After two successful albums on Circulation Records and Burning Season, Bastardized Recordings has announced that SOULGATE'S DAWN has signed with them for a brand new record. Expect the band's new album, "Messiah," to be released everywhere on March, 20, 2009.

Here's what the band had to sayabout this signing and their plans for the near future:

"After producing our third album MESSIAH in late summer at the Rape Of Harmonies Studios, it’s now time to lift the secret about our new label. The CD contains 11 songs and will be released via BASTARDIZED RECORDINGS, what makes us very happy. The athmosphere within our new family feels amazingly good and we are looking forward to great times. The feelgood factor is on maximum, what simply means that you can expect nothing but the best! We as band have made big steps in the last time and with BASTARDIZED RECORDINGS on our side, you’ll hear a lot more of us from now on. So be curious about the future! MESSIAH is definitely the most sophisticated and well-engineered Soulgate’s Dawn release by now, that starts where „deathtrap to escape“ ends. But here is an warning: if you expect cleanvocals, hiphop or techno-beats you will be disappointed – MESSIAH is honest, aggressive and melodic at the same time."

Megadeth Issues New Album and Endorsement Updates

Shawn Drover of thrash/heavy metal band Megadeth has just issued a report concerning recording activities for the band's new album. Today is day four for the band's recording sessions at Vic's Garage and for the album in general. Next week will only be a partial recording week for the band, "as we all have appearances at the NAMM, [which is the National Association of Music Merchants], show at various times. I also have to drive up to L.A. on Monday for a killer photo shoot with Vic Firth drumsticks for future drum magazine ad's, posters, etc. There will be other drummer's invloved in this photo shoot, and though I wont name anybody at this point (in case they cannot make it, etc.) some of the names I am hearing are very cool. Regardless, I will enjoy this opportunity with seeing my Vic Firth artist rep, Marco Soccoli, who is a dear friend, and a fantastic human being. In going on my 5th year in Megadeth, I have been very fortunate to develop great relationships with all of my respective endorsers, so I always jump at the chance to see them when the opportunity arises."

"We have wrapped up the recording for The Infection.

"Sonically this album sounds amazing. Ben, Zeuss and Ted did an amazing job making our vision come to reality. The album has exceeded everyone in this bands expectations. Now we all get to play the game “hurry up and wait” as we won’t be posting a new track for a little bit because our record labels (yes i said labels) need to listen to the album and hear the songs before you guys. I trust you understand after all they did pay for us to record them it’s only fair they get first dibs."

Phil Anselmo Writes Poem For BoxingInsider.com

Down/ex-Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo has recently contributed a poem to BoxingInsider.com. You can check it out below:

A trained; composed; skilled fist
can strike out at an opponent for only so long
before it connects directly into the hearts of loved ones closest.
A pugilistic dementia reaction of habit
with a system in slow motion.
Done by thirty-three
and bitter about it.
What could have been!
Not a single promise kept.
No limelight.
Golden gloves trophies, colorless ribbons
and lost timelines…
gather dust
next to a stack of unopened mail;
forgotten for months.
Or years.
Bloodstains on a battle tested brain.
A warrior
fed back to the cruel streets unwanted and
left to cope alone
with predictable failure lying await in ambush
ticking like a time bomb inside of himself.
Whether it be nerve-damaged ticks
violent, abrupt outbursts
fists through framed family photos
or bottom shelf tequila—
this man is but a trapped, wounded hero
with torn pride inside.
A sad baggage to heave around
with nowhere to put it,
nor knowledge of how to.
The Retired Journeyman will be remembered
as the portrayal of a man that left his mark
as the loser of boxing matches
by those of us who lived through his losses
and have scorned his name because of them.
But let us take a moment to allot compassion for him
because to remember his name
is to know the unparalleled and oft-misguided courage it takes
to climb through the ropes, and into the ring
with nothing left.
For every champion, they must first meet The Journeyman…
who’s scarred face serves its purpose
and with every punch it receives, it
only serves as a detriment to this man’s health
and further distances him, from him.
Woe to The Journeyman—
a hollow young man
with only directionless; puzzled memories of combat
left on his head.
Bereft of family or friends
sitting quietly in his lonely squat—
uninvited, yet familiar company is kept
and can always be found seated in an opposing corner of the house
in a dimly lit smoker
waiting for the bell to ring
in The retired Journeyman’s
aspiration-dead
imagination.
