Swedish death metal band Bloodbath have just released the following statement concerning their new music video for "Hades Rising":
"Together with director Owe Lingwall and Village Road Film we just shot the first official promo video in the band's history for 'Hades Rising' taken off 'The Fathomless Mastery.' The footage of the band's performance was shot on location in Vallentuna outside Stockholm and can be summoned up as some serious headbanging with lots of blood, real messy and death metal dandy! The rest of the plot/storyline is currently [being] filmed in Umeå where the footage will also be edited within the next 4 weeks. Stay tuned for a synopsis of this very devilish manuscript. It's gonna crush the souls of thousands!"

Destruction Denies Sodom Tribute Show Accusations
German thrash metal legends Destruction have issued a statement regarding the accusation that they pulled out of a tribute show for original Sodom drummer Chris Witchhunter.
The statement reads as follows: "To cut down rumours about the cancellation of the Chris Witchhunter Tribute Show, we need to speak out the truth about the non-professional behaviour of the so-called "promoter."
"Destruction agreed to play for free, without any of the normal demands on this charity event, the only demand was a professional poster. After that the wanna-be-promoter took the band off the bill. No communication with the band or the agency, nothing!
"This decision was beyond the band's control and will only hurt the fans and Chris' relatives.
"As a matter of respect for our dead friend, we will not fight this senseless decision in public. The event is a good thing for Chris and his family. Chris would turn over in his own grave, after such a stupid act. Destruction apologizes for this brainless decision of this wanna-be-promoter. Support Chris and his relatives!"
Giant Changes Name To Braveyoung
North Carolina's GIANT has announced that they intend to move forward under the moniker BRAVEYOUNG. The band comments:
"To avoid inevitable legal repercussions, we have decided to stop using the name Giant. Braveyoung will be the name we now collectively function under. Nothing is changing, we are still the same band, but this has been a long time coming, and we are finally confident enough to go forward with it. It's only a name."
2009 promises to be a big year for the band, who will soon be releasing a 10-inch entitled "Bloom." Later in the year, the band will release a full-length followup to their 2005 debut, "Song." Details surrounding both releases are forthcoming.
“Braveyoung, like Giant, is only a moniker,” explains Zachary. “If we could, we would call ourselves ‘Zachary Isaac Ben Derrick Kyle,’ but I suppose it doesn’t work that way.”
As for the immediate future, BRAVEYOUNG has a two-week tour with Advent and Torch Runner coming up in early February and shortly following that will come an announcement concerning a full US with Tides.
“We just like to play,” confesses Zachary, “and don’t really think about much else. As with any other form of expression, it is and will continue to be a constantly growing and evolving process. If it wasn’t, there’d be no point in us continuing on.”

Nick Barker To Join Exodus For European Tour
Legendary metal drummer Nick Barker will be filling in for Exodus drummer Tom Hunting on the bands upcoming European tour. A posting from Exodus guitarist Gary Holt reads as follows:
"First, here’s hoping everybody has an excellent holiday weekend and a safe New Year. Whatever makes you happy, enjoy it! We’re getting excited for next year, as it should prove to be most awesome all the way around.
"Have no fear, Tom will be back - a bit more tanned I’m sure - and then we will be off and running with Kreator for two months in the U.S. and Canada. See you all soon.
"Then on February 18th, we’re off to Europe for a co-headlining tour with our good old friends in Overkill, capped off with our return to Greece (finally!). For this Overkill tour, we will be without the services of [drummer] Mr. Tom Hunting, as he had a well-planned in advance, paid for, and non-refundable vacation to México that has been in the works since last April-May. He will take many pictures of paradise for all to see! So while he will be sipping a drink on a sunny beach, we will be in a stinky, beer-and-piss-soaked club. Exactly where I want to be!
So on this European tour, I would like to welcome our good friend Mr. Nick Barker (ex-Cradle of Filth, ex-Testament, ex-Dimmu Borgir), who will be holding down the drum throne! Nick is one of the baddest dudes to ever hit things with sticks, so we’re happy as hell he agreed to join this lunatic parade for a short while! There will be many bottles of Old Number [Seagram's] 7 vanishing down our guts for sure!"

Other cool features are in the works by the team and will pop on the hotsite to make it even more interesting for you to interact with Sepultura on the road. And while the tour doesn't start you can listen to the entire album in the hotsite)."
Destruction Leaves Sodom Drummer Tribute Show
German thrash metal legends Destruction has pulled out of a tribute show for the late Sodom drummer, Chris Witchhunter, due to a dispute over the concert flyer. A posting from Sodom reads as follows:
"Now that we invited lots of Chris Witchhunter's and Sodom's friends to this event, we're sorry to inform you that Destruction won't take part. Destruction - respectively Schmier - weren't satisfied with the flyer and poster design. Regrettably this discontent had also been discussed on the Destruction message board and thereby word spread to other forums too. Via e-mail Schmier let us know that he doesn't want to be "a support act" with Destruction and that we "are supposed to look for someone else!" instead. We regret their decision. There will be a replacement for Destruction, which we're going to introduce next Monday, January 19th, 2009!
"As this festival's initiator, Sodom furthermore want to point out the basic idea behind this event again: We'd like to arrange a worthy farewell for Chris Witchhunter and still we also want to raise money for his mother. The event shall be a peaceful and untroubled party for every thrash metal fan. There's another topic that has been discussed on various forums too: 'Why don't Kreator take place, do they think they are too good for this?' If you have a look at Kreator's tour schedule you'll see that the band is on tour at this time. This is the reason why they can't take place! Well, this is a pity, but their tour had been planned a long time before the Chris Witchhunter Tribute Show."

Chainsaw To Return With New Album
Chainsaw, one of the best bands on Polish melodic thrash metal scene, returns with a brand new album entitled “Evilution.” The new LP is a concept album due to the lyrical content, written by a native Scotsman, Alex Summers. It consists of ten rather dark and gruesome tales - Celtic legends telling stories of half-human and half-animal creatures, paranormal activities, supernatural powers and the evolution of evil and magic that took place in Scotland throughout the centuries. The first recording session took place in mid 2008 at Studio X in Olsztyn, Poland with the following guests: Tytus (vocals), best known from Acid Drinkers, and Mauser (guitar), an ex-member of Vader, currently involved in his project UnSun.
Chainsaw’s current line-up consists of Maciej “Maxx” Koczorowski (vocals), Jarek Gajczuk-Zawadzki (guitars), Arek “Rygiel” Rygielski (guitars), Sebastian Górski (drums), and Marek Jerchewicz (bass).
“Evilution” will be released by Metal Mind Productions on 23rd February in Europe and 7th April in USA (via MVD). More info will follow soon.

Zao Finishing New Album
Zao is currently wrapping up work on their new album, which will hit streets this spring via Ferret Music. The effort has been titled "Awake?" and is currently being mixed in San Marco, CA by Daniel Castleman. According to the group, "It features 11 tracks. 10 of them are brand new while 'Romance of the Southern Spirit' has finally been given the sonic quality it deserves with a brand new recording that smashes the basement b-side version you've heard."
Song titles include "1,000,000 Outstretched Arms Of Nothing", "The Eyes Behind The Throne", "Human Cattle Masses Marching Forward", "Quiet Passenger Pt. 2."
The band comments: "We can't wait for you guys to hear this album! We are very proud of it and in our humble opinions it is very reminiscent of what you have come to know and love about Zao over the years. Every band likes to say 'this new album is our best yet' so we won't say that to you. We know that albums like 'Blood & Fire' and 'Liberate' will always be fan favorites and they are special to us as well. But with that being said believe us when we say that we strongly feel 'Awake?' is a more than worthy addition to our catalog."
