Pain Of Salvation Lifts Embargo On U.S.
Pain Of Salvation has issued the following statement:
"We congratulate the people of USA on the Inauguration of their new President. We have waited for this day a long time, as have most of the world. Obama continually strikes us as the bravest and most promising US president that modern times have seen, and we nod our heads in agreement and respect for some of the things he expressed in his speech. Thus, with Barack Obama, in that very speech, offering an open hand to those willing to unclench their fists, Pain of Salvation will be first in line to offer our unclenching.
"To be honest, I (Daniel) see nothing but relentless hard work and perils for him walking down this road. But I see no one more brave or better fit to try. I put my fate in the warm and intelligent eyes of this man, and hope to see his spirit unbroken by the heavy machinery that is modern US politics. If he can’t, then I don’t see who would. I count on you Obama, to do right by the world.
"We are still in awe of the Democrats’ boldness of having one woman and one black man as their candidates, and of the people of America for electing Obama; A president who advocates global relations and communications before war, solar and wind power before oil, public rights before corporative rights, freedom before security - and who promises to shut down the Guantanamo base within a year. A man who has the guts to demand political transparency of the US government. More...

Massachusetts thrash band Ravage has issued the following statement:
"Today I'd like to announce that we have secured the services of the legendary Ed Repka (MEGADETH, THE MISFITS, DEATH, SANCTUARY etc) to complete the cover art for the new full-length album. It's amazing to be working with Ed, whose art I have enjoyed since I was a little kid. Just from the preliminary sketches I can tell this is going to be exactly what we were looking for. We wanted to go all out and have the best possible presentation for this album and give the most possible value to our fans - we won't fuck the fans! And this is just the beginning, there is more to come. We will be playing in places we've never played before and playing with some great metal bands - those announcements will be made shortly as well as an announcement about the release date for the new cd and other details. Stay tuned."

Powerwolf Issues Recording Update
Powerwolf has issued the following statement about working with a classical music conservatory while recording their new album:
"Holy heavens. We spent two days at the Musikhochschule Saarbrücken, a conservatory for classical music. And no - not as bad examples of misguided musicians. We recorded choir arrangements with a choir of 25 men and women, most of them students or graduates of the conservatory. We already did choir stuff on three songs on "Lupus dei", but this time we developed things further and bigger: 8 of the new songs got majestic choir arrangements, written by maestro Francesco Cottone. And we can tell you - it´s pure shivers down your spine when 25 classical singers cantillate Powerwolf anthems! We were speechless. Our gratitude goes to the brave choir women and men, who took all the time and dedication, feared neither the devil nor the loss of their good reputation collaborating with the wolves, and did a damn great job."

Drove to Haarlem. John Lie and myself got up early and checked out an old cathedral. The new drummer of Arsis, Dave Kinkade, came to the show and we hung out. Ralph Santolla uses every chance to give John Li hell. It's hilarious. More...
These Are They Signs To The End Records
The End Records has issued the following statement about signing These Are They:
"Formed in May of 2008, THESE ARE THEY—a Chicago-based death metal band featuring vocalist Paul Kuhr (Novembers Doom), guitarist Steve Nicholson (ex-Novembers Doom), bassist Wiley Wells (Earthen) and drummer Sasha Horn (Trials)—entered the metal scene with an unrelenting aural assault.
Thirteen years after departing Novembers Doom, Nicholson reunited with Kuhr in 2008 in order to create something new and fresh. With the help of Wells, along with good friends Mike LeGros (Disinter, Earthen) and drummer Evan Berry, a musical style was chosen, material was written, and THESE ARE THEY recorded their debut EP, Who Manifest. Recorded, mixed and mastered at Belle City Sound with Chris Wisco at the helm, the EP instantly took on a life of its own.
Guitar driven, down tuned and powerful, the material is old school Chicago death metal with flashes of Bolt Thrower, Obituary, and Entombed and contains more headbanging hook than you can shake a fist at. More...

Warning Officially Calls It A Day
British doom metal legends Warning have confirmed that the band will be coming to an end. Speculation of the bands demise had been circulating for sometime and founder Patrick Walker today confirmed the split with the following announcement:
"The decision to discontinue Warning has been both a pain and a purgation to me. For the past two years or so, Warning has been a considerably important part of my life, what with travelling and playing shows, writing new music and a gradual but increasing interest in the band, largely helped by Cyclone Empire’s rereleasing of both records and making them for the first time easily obtainable to people.
"However, I started the band in 1994. I was a different person when I began playing with Warning; I had different musical objectives; different ideals; different influences and inspirations. Now in order to make music that retains some semblance of integrity and wholeness I realise I need to move on. This shouldn’t be thought of as 'the end' of something; I have, after all, been the sole remaining original member of the band in its most recent line-up for almost a year now; in this respect Warning is little more than a band name. So before I complete work on what will be the material for the next album, I need a new band; a new context within which to work.
"I hope people continue their interest in my music, and all further information concerning it will be officially made known through Cyclone Empire with whom I am very happy to say I will continue to work as originally proposed, so please look no further than these pages for more news."

Slipknot's Fehn: "We're Gonna Overtake Metallica"
Slipknot percussionist Chris Fehn recently spoke with KansasCity.com regarding the bands future and proved that he's extremely optomistic about where Slipknot's future lies. "I think we’re going to overtake Metallica. We’re going to overtake any band that sells out soccer arenas in Europe. We’re going to do it. We’re the last chance as far as the world goes."
He continued: "We haven’t even made our 'Black' record yet, wait until we do that. It’s over, dude."
Despite his claims, frontman Corey Taylor has in the past been less positive about the band's future, declaring a few years back when the band was touring in support of "Vol.3" that the band would probably do one more record and then quit in case they became a weaker version of themselves.
