Revolution Renaissance Signs To Scarlet Records

Revolution Renaissance, the new band of the Stratovarius mastermind Timo Tolkki, has signed a worldwide record deal for one album with Scarlet Records. The band was previously set to work with Frontiers Records in a deal that was later nullified.

The last weeks have kept Tolkki and his band members busy putting finishing touches to the band's first real debut album entitled "AGE OF AQUARIUS". Recorded over 3 months in Finland, it is by far the darkest, heaviest and most symphonic album that Tolkki has ever been involved in.

Finding a close connection with his new band members Gus Monsanto and Bruno Agra, the trio locked itself in a cabin in Finland for a month and composed 10 new songs. It is the first time during Tolkki's career that he shared the whole songwriting process with other band members.

"I just felt this incredibly fresh vibe with these guys and the songs were just flowing. It was so natural process that it almost felt like the songs were already composed and we just let them be born. It was possible because in Gus and Bruno I finally have found the kindred spirits I have been looking for so long. The results were something that none of us were expecting and yet at the same time, we felt that this record is exactly the way it is supposed to be," comments Tolkki.

The release date of "AGE OF AQUARIUS" is 25.3.2009 in South East Asia (JVC) and on 9.3.2009 in the rest of the world. The band also filmed a promotional video in Helsinki for the title track of the album.

The tracklisting includes: "The Age of Aquarius", "So She Wears Black," "Ixion's Wheel," "Kyrie Eleison," "Revolution Has Begun," "Sins of My Beloved," "Behind the Mask," "Ghost of Fallen Grace," "Children of the Future," and "The Heart of All".

The tours are currently been booked to promote "AGE OF AQUARIUS" worldwide and are planned to start from South America in early April.

Scarlet Records will also release Timo Tolkki's 3rd solo album, the ethereal classical Rock Opera "Saana-Warrior of Light part 1" Worldwide on 23.1.2009.

Autumn Reveals Artwork For Attitude

Female-fronted Dutch Power Rock outfit AUTUMN has revealed the cover artwork for its new album, "Altitude." "Altitude" features the debut of the Dutch talent Marjan Welman on vocals.

Comments the band on the cover art: “The cover more or less depicts the peak of our civilisation. These are the works of man, who has performed so many technological and scientific miracles in such a small amount of time. But confusion lurks. The balance is obviously shifting for the worse. It takes courage to step back and pursue happiness and prosperity through means less hazardous to our environment. Yet the man in his flying contraption does just that. He is vulnerable... and flying at high altitudes was never without peril."

"Altitude" was recorded at Arno Krabman’s Graveland Studio and mixing and mastering was done by Jochem Jacobs (Textures) at SplitSecondSound.

An audio preview of "Altitude" can be found on Autumn's MySpace site.

For technical reasons the album has been pushed two weeks forward. "Altitude" will now hit stores on February, 13th (D/A/CH/I), February, 27th (rest of Europe). The limited first edition will be released as a Digipak including an exclusive bonus track.

Here’s the updated final tracklisting as well, which is different to the one revealed two weeks ago: More...

“We had just parted ways with our second guitarist and we had already booked studio time to start recording. We really wanted get our album out, so I talked to Jim about playing guest lead guitar on it, and he was totally into it. I first met him 9 or 10 years ago. Of course, Jim’s a great player, an awesome dude, and a great friend. He was one of my biggest heroes growing up, and his music is a huge influence and inspiration on the style and sound of our band. It was a lot of fun and an honor to have him play on our CD.”

Crown The Lost Announces Bassist, Release Date

Crown The Lost has posted a year-end round up on their MySpace blog, including word or their new stand-in at the bass position. Here's the update from the band:

"First things first: our show last night (December 19) @ Excuses was a success, so much thanks to our new friends Lucidity and the dudes of In the Wake for coming out and rocking. We'll have to do it again.

"Our bass position is going to be manned for the time being by Dom Scarano, who comes to us from Kevin's old band, Allanon. Dom's first show with us will be Friday, January 16 @ The Smiling Moose, so we have the next few weeks to throw everything we can at him. Methinks he'll handle it just fine.

"As for 2008, like most things, they didn't go as planned, although the band now is at a better place than it was a year ago at this time. Shedding three members was not something we particularly enjoyed doing, but in the end it has all worked out. If anything, we'll take the experiences of this year and translate them to 2009, where we plan on having a lot less bumpy of a trip.

"March of '09 will see the release of Blind Faith Loyalty via Cruz del Sur Records and suffice it to say, we are both enthused and relieved to get the album released. Subsequently, songwriting for our third album will commence in the coming weeks and that, along with promoting BFL will be the focus of the new year.

"Massive hails to all the new friends we made this year and everyone who has been directly or indirectly involved with CTL. We'll buy you a beer. Or if the Steelers win the Super Bowl (Satan willing they don't), Joe will buy you five. He gets generous when that shit happens. Not me. I'm skipping town."
