Lethal Aggression Readies First Album In 20 Years
Veteran underground thrash/hardcore legends Lethal Aggression, having recently signed a record deal with Horror Pain Gore Death Productions, will release their first full length album in 20 years, tentatively titled "Ad Nauseum." Lethal Aggression will also be appearing on a 4-way split 7-inch featuring Mental Funeral, BSOM and Vulcan via Horror Pain Gore Death Productions.
Metal Age Records Signs Infest and Disinfect
Metal Age Records has announced the signing of French grindcore band Infest and brutal German death metal band Disinfect. You can check each of the bands out on their respective MySpace pages (Infest, Disinfect).
Dope Stars Inc. Signs Record Deals
Subsound Records has announced the signing of Dope Stars Inc. for the release of their new album in Italy. In addition to Subsound records, the band has signed deals with Trisol Music Group for Europe, Metropolis Records in USA/Canada for the release of the album in each territory.
The band hopes this will open also more opportunites to book an international tour after the next album. They will be touring intensively after the release that is scheduled for this spring (April/May).
More updates regarding the new album production and details will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
Razormaze Signs To Hold True Recordings
Hold True Recordings has announced the addition of Boston thrash-metal warriors RAZORMAZE into its family. Hold True Recordings already has the band on track to release an EP entitled "Dawn of the Shred" in early 2009, featuring artwork by Halseycaust (Toxic Holocaust, War Ripper), and the band will be embarking on a Dawn of the Shred Tour in early 2009 in support of the forthcoming effort (dates are listed below).
For those unfamiliar with RAZORMAZE, the quartet draws from the tried and true influences of the glory days of thrash, bonding together technical, yet melodic riffing and leads, lightning fast drumming, and vocals that sound like a dive-bomber coming in for a kill. According to the label, RAZORMAZE and their brand of unwavering metal will surely appeal to fans of Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Razor, Black Flag, Millions of Dead Cops, Nuclear Assault, Testament, and Dew Scented.
With regards to the band being welcomed into the Hold True Recordings family, the band had the following to say: "We believe that our relationship with Hold True will allow us to take our music career to the next level. With their reputation and promotional ability, we will undoubtedly reach a great number of new fans and connect with the ones we've already made in a new and unimpeded way. Needless to say, we are totally stoked to become a part of the Hold True family."

Ava Inferi on New Album and Algarve Chamas
Portugese doom metal band Ava Inferi has announced plans for their upcoming full-length album. They have announced that out of their efforts "came nine powerful and sad hymns, all showcasing Ava Inferi's refusal to stagnate and go the easy and throdden path of repetition." The final mixes are not completed, but will be sometime in January in Norway. The band states that many "dramatic events" happened during the recording of the album, and that it is "more metal" than the previous two albums. "But despair not, there are enough tristesse and serenity to provole the most saddened thoughts on here as well. We are not changing, [we are] merely evolving!" Guests on the album include the following: Kristoffer Rygg of Ulver, Live Kostol of Pantheon I, Fredrik Soderlind of Puissence, and "the amazing piano talent Arne Martinussen." The tracklist will be revealed "when the fog has lifted."
The band would like to apologize for the cancellation of their appearance at the Algarve Chamas VII Festival which takes place on January 30th, due to their mixing schedule. Ava Inferi hopes for a re-scheduled show later in the year.
Dawn Of Desolation Finishes Recording New EP
Frederick, Maryland metal band Dawn Of Desolation has announced that they've finished recording their new EP, which is now being mixed. Here's the update from the band:
"So after some obstacles (Loss of data, car collisions, fatigue, rain, loss of more data, rowdy neighbors, hunger, and loss of data) during the recording process we have arrived at the end!
"The material is getting mixed down at the moment and will be ready for listening within days.
"We will most likely have some copies at these upcoming shows for those of you that wont be reading this and are missing out on that beautiful fact that the EP is absolutely FREE! (This includes download)"
Double Dragon Begins Work on New Album
Australia's Double Dragon have already started work on their follow up too their debut album "Devastator," five months after it’s release. The new album, "Blood," will feature new lead guitarist Davin Buttery (A Red Dawn).
Vocalist Lee Gardiner issues the following statement about their new guitarist and material:
"After touring with some of our direct influences this year, getting to know them as people, their influences, and having some of our favorite musicians getting to know our music and offer advice regarding the development of our sound AND with our new guitarist Davin bringing another dimension to the song writing process, it naturally brought a general excitement back into the band that has MADE us want to write, MADE us want to record immediately as we feel we are now armed with so many more 'weapons' so to speak in our song writing arsenal. After touring with The Haunted and witnessing how down to earth they are as people, how much integrity they bring too the stage night after night really lifted the band spirits." More...
Cornelius and Solefald Wish You a Happy 1009 AF
Cornelius of avant-garde metal band Solefald has recently given updates on recent activities. First, he's shared some travel plans: this January, he plans to vacation at Buenos Aires, Argentina. "It will be my first trip to South America, and I look forward to discovering the charms of a new continent." His time "will be spent writing Solefald lyrics, as well as editing a novel" he is working on. He has also announced the following: "I receive questions about when our new album is out: next autumn ought to give you the answer." You should expect some "epic evil." He also wishes that you'll have a happy and meaningful 1009 AF (apparently this is a reference to the Icelandic Odyssey albums).

Island Posts New Song, Readies New Releases
German progressive/experimental metal band Island has released a new song on their MySpace player, entitled "Celine." The band's self-titled full-length album, mastered by Thrawn (guitar player in Dødheimsgard) at Strype Audio, Oslo, will see a release in early 2009 via Vendlus Records. You can view the artwork here.
The band members have recently spent a few days in the studio, with thier other, heavier, band VALBORG to record some new material. Valborg's debut album should also see a release in early 2009.
