Judgement Day Posts Original Acoustic EP For Free
Cello and violin metal trio Judgement Day has posted their original acoustic EP for free download with bonus track, "Carol Of The Bell (orchestral)."
Here's what the band had to say about the release:
"Before we had drums or FX pedals, before we tried to get every note perfect, before we had enough songs to make a full length record, we released our first EP- The Acoustic EP. The songs on it are basically the songs we used to play for spare change on Telegraph Ave in Berkeley along with a couple of quieter avant garde intros. I just listened to it again for the first time in a couple of years. It’s interesting. It’s definitely raw. We recorded it really quickly in our parent’s and uncle’s garage without computers so there’s no editing or cheating. Some of the violin parts are improvised and sometimes doubled by another violin that is improvising. The intro and interlude were completely improvised. We didn’t do very many takes so some of the songs have blatant mistakes. Overall, though I think that the rawness gives it a pretty cool energy. If nothing else its cool to hear how it all got started.
"The bonus track, “Carol of the Bells (orchestral)” is the same as the original ep version except with 4 or 5 extra violins and a couple of extra cellos doubling what is already there. We decided to use the version with just one violin and one cello because it sounds more real but I always liked the “Orchestral” version too so we’re putting it on here as an extra holiday bonus.
"The original release of the Acoustic EP was a CDR in a plastic sleeve with a black and white booklet. It’s been out of print for a few years now so we are excited to be able to share it with you all again now as a free download. Take a listen and let us know what you think."

Korpiklaani Issues Year End Update

In the whole we played over 80 gigs, that means about one gig in every four days. We had a lot of fun, met many old friends and made new ones. So, this has been a pretty good year for us.
2009 promises to become even better; a long cherished dream of us becomes fulfilled: we will tour the USA and Canada in Paganfest 2! We are invited for Wacken Open Air on their 20th anniversary festival, and many more gigs are in the works. In February we will enter the studio again, to record a brand new album.
These last days of 2008, we will make a small tour with In Extremo in Germany, and end the year in Nosturi, Helsinki, on a new year's celebration concert with our friends from Moonsorrow and Kiuas.
We wish you all a happy new year and hope to see you around somewhere."

"Dear Blackies and Blackettes!
It’s that time of year again. But actually, we are bewildered. Is it Christmas already? Do they change the day every year?
But forget all the stress with getting presents, killing a duck for dinner and getting enough booze in the house to make singing really smooth… It’s too early. Our Christmas is on Jan 23rd, when our debut album comes out. After a lot of work and even more laughs!
C’mon, think about it: We just played our first show in January, wrote more songs, got awarded “Demo Of The Month” four times in big German magazines, finished the album, wrote music for an American movie, signed a deal, played with Zakk, played with Black Stone Cherry, got shows with Volbeat confirmed for Jan/Feb, and most importantly felt a lot of love from you guys - and now the thing actually coming out? How cool is that? More...
