"We are very excited to be signing to The End, as we are a very hands-on, do-it-yourself band, and they seem to work that way as a record label. Besides, we wouldn't sign with anyone that we couldn't go have a few beers with!"
HULL's first release for THE END will be a full-length entitled "Sole Lord," the followup to 2007's self-released "Viking Funeral" EP. More...

Metallica Finally Confirms Guitar Hero Game
Metallica has finally confirmed the heavily rumored all-Metallica Guitar Hero game. Here's the announcement from the band:
"Yes, we know, it's the worst kept secret in rock-n-roll but we're here now to finally confirm that there will indeed be an all-Metallica Guitar Hero game released in the first half (!?) of 2009. Guitar Hero Metallica allows you to play as us in either single instrument or band career game modes in your choice of some famous settings (Tushino Airfield anyone?) or new venues with in the round staging. Included are 28 Metallica songs along with a few from some of our buddies like as Alice in Chains, the Foo Fighters, Slayer, Machine Head and Queen. There is also an all new Expert+ difficulty setting featuring two bass drum kick pedals (!!!) along with all the gameplay modes from Guitar Hero World Tour.
"Over the next few months, we're going to be updating you with track listings, more features, of course how and when you can get the game, and some cool previews of the game right here on the site. As you've heard us say before, keep checking back for more details!"
Nidrike's "Blodsarv" To Be Released Soon
Nidrike has decided to work with Undead Propaganda Records for the release of their upcoming full-length album, "Bloodsarv." Here is a message from the band:
"After some negotiations with several labels we decided that it was for the best to let the same label that will release our forthcoming MCD, release our "Blodsarv" album as well.
"I have sent the master cd and all layout to Undead Propaganda Records today, and the album will go to the printers as soon as it arrives! So, within a couple of weeks you will finally be able to purchase a copy of our 'Blodsarv' album!
"Due to Undead Propaganda releasing 'Blodsarv' as soon as possible the MCD release will be postponed, but dont worry, it will still be released within the first 6 months of 2009! This mean that you will have 2 Nidrike releases to enjoy within a period of 6 months! It would only be better if we had 3 releases! But well, I have already started to work on a new fullength album, so who knows what will happen!"
Black Cobra, Eagle Twin Sign To Southern Lord
Southern Lord has officially announced the signing of two new bands into their eclectic, congregation of auditory purveyors. Coincidentally both bands are duos - each consisting of merely a guitarist and a drummer. The label welcomes Black Cobra and Eagle Twin.
Rafa Martinez and Jason Landrian have been coalescing Black Cobra's sonic brew for nearly six years now, yet neither were strangers to heaving heavy riffage prior, with Rafa doing time with Acid King and 16, and Jason in Cavity. But the pair unleashes a tone heavier than a trio of both guitar and drums. Their impenetrable hardcore doom chemistry evokes an intensity that sets them apart from the others, both live and recorded. The band has toured seemingly endlessly on both US and foreign soil since their 2002 inception, sharing the stage with The Sword, Weedeater, High On Fire, Torche and countless other bands in the upper ranks of metal and doom, most times blowing the competition away completely. Black Cobra plans to record their first album for Southern Lord sometime in the first half of 2009, with more info and tour dates to be announced very shortly.
Hailing from Salt Lake City, Eagle Twin has mainly solidified into proper form over the course of this year. Guitarist Gentry Densley is a very old friend whose previous band Iceburn was one of the most interesting and incredible bands of the '90s hardcore/post-hardcore movement. Gentry and Greg Anderson (Southern Lord, sunn 0))), Goatsnake) collaborated on the Ascend album Ample Fire Within record, released by Southern Lord earlier this year. The Eagle Twin sound is stained with early doom and blues-roots rock backing mythology of epic Old Testament proportions. The band will be recording their debut album with Randall Dunn (Earth, sunn 0)))) in Seattle this Winter and it should be released before summer of 2009.

Crown the Lost Parts With Bassist Shaun Gunter
Pittsburgh progressive power-thrash band Crown the Lost has parted ways with bassist Shaun Gunter. Here's the announcement from the band:
"We have decided to mutually part ways with bassist Shaun 'Grimes' Gunter. Shaun was a valuable contributor to the band in many facets and we wish him the best of luck. We have already found a replacement and all live activity will continue as planned."
Here's a statement from Shaun regarding the split:
"Greetings, As some of you may know, my time as the bassist for Crown the Lost has come to a close. Both parties collectively agree that it is time for me to pursue other interests, as personal and creative differences have begun to hinder progress.
"I cannot stress enough that I harbor no ill will towards the remaining members - this experience has allowed me to grow as a musician and even more as a person. I'd like to thank the band and everybody that I have met as a result of my membership for everything they have contributed.
"Farewell and good luck to all of you!"

Inaugural Musink Festival Tour Canceled
Billboard.com reports: The first Samsung Mobile Musink Tattoo and Music Festival has been canceled, according to organizers, who cite the "current economic climate" as the primary factor. Social Distortion and Motorhead were planned to headline the tour, which was scheduled to begin January 30.
"I'm sad that this year's festival will not go on as planned, but I'd rather the fans not be disappointed, as there were key elements that did not come together as originally designed," event creator Kat Von D said in a statement. The popular tattoo artist and cable TV personality was scheduled to appear on all dates. The touring festival was also to host a number of other tattoo artists from around the world, showcase various extreme sports demonstrations, and have Samsung staffers on-hand to demonstrate new Samsung mobile phones.
Tour producers included Kat Von D, Hootenanny Festival producer Bill Hardie, Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival and Taste of Chaos co-producer John Reese and Creative Artists Agency (CAA) agent Darryl Eaton.

Misery Signals Drops Off Tour with BMTH
Misery Signals has dropped off the remaining tour dates with Bring Me The Horizon. Misery Signals vocalist Karl had been ill and his doctor recommended that he take 2-3 weeks off to heal.
Karl sent out a bulletin explaining the problem:
"First of all, I want to start off by properly thanking each and every one of you who has messaged me and wished me on a fast road to recovery. The feedback and concern shown by you guys really gives me a drive to get my ass back up to par. I've been home for almost a week now.
I've been in and out of Doctor's offices and Emergency Rooms, and this is what they've concluded:
"I do NOT have MONO.....sort of. Apparently I've had mono over the course of this past year without even knowing it (which would explain me being exhausted 24 hours a day) but that wasn't what was acting up. Finally after my throat swelled up to the point of potential closure, I dragged my ass to the emergency room. After several blood tests and an I.V. put in my arm to re-hydrate me, the doctor plain and simply told me that tonsillitus was causing the severe infection to my throat (imagine having a golf ball with razor blades sticking out of it lodged in your throat), nose and ears.
"Estimated recovery time: 2-3 weeks.
"So there you have it. Sorry to all the kids that came out to the remainder of the Bring Me The Horizon tour hoping to see us there. This was completely unexpected, and now that I've explained my current situation, you can understand why we took precautions."
