Mikoto Loses Three Members To Pop Band

Mikoto has announced the departure of Matt Moody (guitar/vocals), Kelly Orr (bass), and Max Cuzor (drums), who are all leaving the group to focus on their pop outfit, Teen Hearts. Orr has issued the following statement:

"I'm sure most of you know about Matt, Max and I leaving the band, and if you didn't this is my formal resignation. I just wanted to personally write all of you a little explanation note on exactly why I'VE decided to leave Mikoto. I'm sure that Matt and Max will write one too so stay tuned. Anyways, I've decided to part ways and pursue my new project, Teen Hearts.

"I've heard a lot of talk about Teen Hearts being sellouts or whatever you want to call it these days. But when it comes down to it, pop music is the style of music I have always loved to listen to and play. You can ask anyone and they will tell you the same. Some say i have a 13 year old girl's musical taste. I just wrote some songs for fun and recorded them and kids really ended up liking them and it started to take off. It wasn't my intention for this to happen, it just did. When I joined Mikoto in 2004 I had no fucking idea what hardcore music even was. I mean seriously I grew up listening to fucking Blink 182, Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake and a ton of other bands along the same lines as those. Ok, I'll admit it... I was a fucking SKA kid. Hahaha and you can imagine how difficult it was to understand this new type of music that I've never tapped into. But after playing my first show, I knew this was gonna be a fun ride.

"Over the past 4 years I've slept on more floors, drove more miles, met so many awesome people, been to so many awesome places and experienced Ray touching Martin's wiener so many times it's shocking. Haha and I fucking loved every god damn minute of it. Definitely some of the best times I've ever had in my whole life and I will never EVER fucking forget it. Mikoto is made up of some of the most amazing dudes I've ever met and in no way do I hold any grudges towards any of them and I hope they feel the same way about me. They understand that when an opportunity comes along for you to do something you love and something you see so much potential in, it would just be silly to not pursue it. I love Martin and Ray to death and I know they will go far without us. Our last show with Mikoto will be December 22nd at Chain Reaction in Anaheim so you better bring your fucking asses to that show and party down with us. It's gonna be a blast for sure. To all the fans I've met over the years, thank you soooooo much for being so dedicated and awesome. I will miss each and every one of your smiling faces. 1... 2... 3... start the shit talking below."

Gothic Knights To Enter The Studio

New York power metallers, Gothic Knights, have issued the following update about their new album:

"We are about to go into Trax East Studios in early January to record the remaining drum tracks for our next release. Right now, we are in the midst of finishing up writing of the last song which is also going to be the final song on the next CD. A bunch of us in the band are movie buffs, so we decided to choose one of the greatest horror flicks to base this song. It looks like it is going to reach the 10 minute mark, and it is definitely going to have that epic story telling quality."

"We all wish you happy holidays and a happy and healthy new year!! The economy may suck.
But hey, we have our metal!!"

Between The Buried And Me Writing New Material

Between The Buried And Me members Tommy Rogers (vocals) and Dan Briggs (bass) recently did an interview with MetalSucks.net, during which they revealed the bands plans for the next album and more. An excerpt from the chat can be viewed below.

MetalSucks: So are you guys writing any new material yet?

Tommy: Yeah we're just slowly starting to. After this tour we're going to go full force with it and hopefully try and record next year sometime.

MetalSucks: Do you guys write on the road at all?

Tommy: No, hardly ever. We talk about it, but it never happens.

MetalSucks: Do you ever get into a room and jam it out?

Tommy: We're not really a jam kind of band at all.

Dan: We just sit in our [own] room all day and not talk to anybody and see what happens and then send it to everyone else.

Tommy: We all kind of write on our own. We tried jamming once, and it kind of went bad. Some members of the band aren't into jamming at all.

MetalSucks: So any thoughts in the direction you are going to take it?

Tommy: We're just going to take Colors a step past that. I think with every record we really progress and push ourselves and our music. I think we're going to continue that with the next record. The next one will crush Colors.

Evile Guitarist Ol Drake Has Jaw Wired Shut

EVILE guitarist Ol Drake has written an update on his condition after suffering a blackout which caused a serious jaw injury late last month:

"a few weeks on now and I'm slowly recovering. Lost some weight from the difficulty in eating, trying to get energy back as much as possible. The wound on my chin turned out to be infected, so got anti biotics on that. Went to the maxillofacial.......thing at the hospital today (eventually got an appointment) and they've wired my jaw shut for two weeks. I was told this should have been done straight away (at A&E in Rotterdam) but it wasn't. It's apparently slightly too late for the wiring to work to full effect (?) but they've done it anyway. I look forward to more inability to consume food stuffs.

please send all 2 week silence jokes to my myspace page. I allow everyone to laugh and/or call me Jaws"

With a wired jaw and a canceled tour (with SATYRICON, due to the deliberating injury), Ol has found other ways to channel his thoughts in some of the most metal ways possible. Here's a couple of lyrics he wrote to the tune of the JUDAS PRIEST classic, "Breaking The Law":

"Breaking My Jaw

There I was completely normal, Rotterdam, 4 down
Ol outside the evile transport as we tour from town to town
Felt as though my body died, blurry vision now
So I might as well begin to put some concrete in my mouth

BREAKING MY JAW BREAKING MY JAW

.....I Won't do the rest of the song..."

Children Of Bodom Bassist Checks In From Tour

Children of Bodom bassist Henkka T. Blacksmith has posted the following tour report online:

"I think Munich was the best German show for us. It was very nice surprise for us. They day before we played in Vienna, and somehow that city has always been very dear to us. I will never forget the Planet Music shows back in the day. ONE MAN ARMY dudes invaded our bus in Stuttgart. They played the same city with UNLEASHED.

"It was time to cross the channel. The Cliffs of Dover welcomed us to the rainy island. Weird is that it's actually been much sunnier in UK than in Central Europe on this tour. London was lots of drinking. Cardiff kicked some serious ass. The crowd really surprised us, and now it would be great to come over for headliner.

"Yesterday we enjoyed a day off in Birmingham. I managed to get up quite early, totally hungover from the Cardiff tequilas. The game wasn't sold out so we got tickets to see Birmingham-Watford. What could be better cure for hangover than good company, beer and football?"
