Between The Buried And Me Writing New Material
Between The Buried And Me members Tommy Rogers (vocals) and Dan Briggs (bass) recently did an interview with MetalSucks.net, during which they revealed the bands plans for the next album and more. An excerpt from the chat can be viewed below.
MetalSucks: So are you guys writing any new material yet?
Tommy: Yeah we're just slowly starting to. After this tour we're going to go full force with it and hopefully try and record next year sometime.
MetalSucks: Do you guys write on the road at all?
Tommy: No, hardly ever. We talk about it, but it never happens.
MetalSucks: Do you ever get into a room and jam it out?
Tommy: We're not really a jam kind of band at all.
Dan: We just sit in our [own] room all day and not talk to anybody and see what happens and then send it to everyone else.
Tommy: We all kind of write on our own. We tried jamming once, and it kind of went bad. Some members of the band aren't into jamming at all.
MetalSucks: So any thoughts in the direction you are going to take it?
Tommy: We're just going to take Colors a step past that. I think with every record we really progress and push ourselves and our music. I think we're going to continue that with the next record. The next one will crush Colors.

Good point DeathInEye. For me personality, BTBAM's albums have got better because they are more and more progressive each time. The music on "Colors" was outstanding. There are not many metal bands today that can compete with them as far as creativity and progression in their music. I think BTBAM said that the next album with crush "Colors" as a way of motivating themselves to keep on doing what they been doing with each album growing.
If you haven't given this band a serious listen you need to. I'm not a fan of Hardcore so when I first heard their self-titled album I was like "mehh...", but as I continued to listen I heard potential and something in this relatively new band that really impressed me.

all this talk of "I dont like hardcore, but I like this band" has me intrigued actually. It's sounds like, "I don't like metalcore, but Chimaira is not bad", and I thouroughly enjoy some of Chimaira's stuff, so I guess I will give this band a listen. I've heard of them frequently, but I generally dismiss bands out of habit that have names with more then two words(excluding articles) like "The Devil Wears Prada" or "Arsonist Get All The Girls" or somethin equally stupid.
The one big exception to that rule though has been Dillinger Escape Plan, even though I'm 50/50 on their music. Some stuff is so awesome i want to pee my pants just so that i can tone down how awesome i feel listening to it, but then they have songs that would make me want to not listen to them if I didnt know how awesome their other stuff is.
So I guess I'll give these guys a go...

BTBAM makes awesome music every time. cant freakin wait. i saw them on the bodom tour too and i loved every bit of them! i guess i can understand though how an outsider to their music would view them and be annoyed by the long songs. for post 8, if you like the music, you would enjoy the show a lot.

Arsonists Get All The Girls is a stupid name, but not a bad band. I actually quite enjoy a lot of metalcore. Particularly the more technical/experimental stuff, but I always enjoy that stuff more no matter what genre it is.
I haven't even bothered checking out Devil Wears Prada, what a gay band name... Chimaira are totally rad tho.

^oh I enjoy metalcore for the most part too, but only when it's the cream of the crop, like I said, Chimaira. lol
AgatG is alright, not enough for me to waste memory on my computer though, considering i need all i can get for all the discogaphies i download off utorrent. (so far, I've downloaded Napalm Death(14 albums) Behemoth(10 albums) Kreator(21 albums) Pig Destroyer(4, but they have aLOT of split cd stuff) Eminem(5 albums) Ludacris(12 albums I think) NWA(4 albums) and a few cd's from Gojira and testament individually. Opeth and Deicide come next, so you see, I can't waste my time with stuff I'm "sorta" entertained by right now lol. :p
I don't think I liked Devil though. If I remember though, I think the Tony Tapdance extravaganza was...interesting haha, as long as we're goin on about long band names. I have yet to check them out in depth, I've only heard two songs, but what I did hear was not bad. then again, I could have just heard the random two "diamond in the rough's" of the band, so tread carefully if anbody bothers to look em up.
Now Playing: Napalm Death-Hung Metal

FAN: You've got a lot of metal to get through! I could live on Gojira and Opeth alone haha.
'Colors' blew me away. I thought 'Alaska' was alright, but I never really had a desire for repeat listens. 'Colors', however, is a different beast altogether. It didn't leave my car stereo for weeks after I got it! They are definitely progressive "in a good way" and I can't wait to hear some new stuff from these guys.

I've loved this group from the moment I heard them. I really think some of these band names are getting out of control. Let me give this a go: 1. Elbow Sore From Push-Ups, 2. Sitting On My Hands And Farting, 3. tofugivesmegas, and 4. Dumb Names Sell Records.
If any of you f***ers make it big with those names, I will find you, beat you, and demand compensation.

If the first statement in post 14 is directed towards me... I agree. Opeth and Gojira are amazing bands. Hey Treacherous.J.Quick, have you heard ofy Meshuggah? Meshuggah is another band that I could listen too for weeks and never get tired of it.
Now Playing: "Black Rose Immortal" by Opeth
^ yeah 20 minute Opeth song!!! I love the album Morningrise

^that's a big rock you're living under if you havn't heard of Meshuggah lol
The Tony Tapdance Extravaganza is an excessively awful band name, but they are actually a fairly decent band. Can't say I would've bothered with Ludacris or NWA, but other than that you've made good choices :)
The only bandname I liked in post 15 was Tofugivesmegas, but that's mainly because I think being vegetarian is silly hahah :P

PorcupineTreeFan: I was actually referring to F*ck_A_Name's comment directly above mine, but I like your choice of music haha. And I think immediate revocation of your metal card is appropriate if you are not aware of Meshuggah. I've been a big fan of their's, too, for a long time.

I really wish bands wouldn't say things like "the next one will crush Colors." It just sets up a comparison that will inevitably make one album seem inferior when in actuallity the two shouldn't be compared in the first place. Especially with experimental bands like BTBAM.
