Northern Ontario's GATES OF WINTER has issued the following update:

"We recently finished our debut album [entitled 'Lux Aeterna'] and it is currently getting pressed right now. Many fans of ours have waited, and waited, for this album, so instead of prolonging the wait, we simply torrented our tunes for them to hear. We're offering our entire disc at max quality and leaving this one up to metal fans to decide if they like it — they can buy it. If not — no harm done! Our style on this album is symphonic metal with some prog elements."

The torrent can be found at this location.

According to GATES OF WINTER's official bio, "Lux Aeterna" "personifies [the band's] inspirations and influences into 60 minutes of pure energy, melody and passion. Megadeth Mainman To Announce Gigantour Lineup Soon

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has issued the following update:

"Droogies!

I mentioned over at the Gigantour site that there is a new site that is going to be developed with your help to connect with me and the band and make your experience even that much cooler than before. Although I posted that here a while ago, I am making sure that the Gigantour part of my last post over there is not overlooked. I doubt that anything related to overlooking is going to be possible this year.

And I talked with the North American Talent Agent for Gigantour and for Megadeth about the announcement of our tour line-up for Gigantour 2008 in the US, Canada, and Good Lord willin', down with my friends in Mexico, ole!

So mark your calendars and come back regularly to see updates on what the exact time is after the New Year for the official announcement, and revealing the line-up and official artwork for Gigantour 2008 North America, which will no doubt be leaked, due to the incredible excitement over the line up."

Adrenalin O.D. Reunite To Fight Cancer

New Jersey hardcore/punk legends ADRENALIN O.D. will reunite on Saturday, December 15 for a benefit for the American Cancer Society at the Court Tavern (124 Church St.) in New Brunswick, NJ. Other bands slated to perform include BROKEN HEROES (featuring members of MURPHY'S LAW and THE UNDEAD), THE KOWALKIS and THE UNOPPOSED.

Formed in 1981, ADRENALIN O.D. made its debut on the widely distributed "New York Thrash" cassette compilation released on ROIR Records in 1982. The compilation also featured the first recordings of the BEASTIE BOYS, as well as prominent New York City punk bands like the BAD BRAINS and KRAUT. The band’s comedic and speedy "Paul's Not Home" became an instant college radio hit.

ADRENALIN O.D. toured nationally throughout the 1980s and created a loyal following via their live shows (described by some as an experience somewhere between MINOR THREAT and Don Rickles). The band's quick wit and on-stage banter was at times as much of an improv stand-up comedy act as a hardcore punk band, and fans coined the term "funny-punk" to describe their performances. Tracks that exhibit the band's quirky sense of humor include a punk rock cover of HENRY MANCINI's "Baby Elephant Walk", a surf rock version of "Hava Nagila" entitled "Surfin' Jew" aka "Surfin' Adam Meshell", and a track entitled "Masterpiece" which is a punk reworking of Jean-Joseph Mouret's "Rondeau" from "Symphonies and Fanfares for the King's Supper" (which the band knew only as the theme from the PBS TV series "Masterpiece Theatre").

ADRENALIN O.D. disbanded in 1990 but reunited several times, most recently to benefit the legendary club CBGB along with THE DEAD BOYS, PETER AND THE TEST TUBE BABIES and FLIPPER in August of 2005.

Paradise Lost Cancel Greek Show

UK gothic metal pioneers PARADISE LOST have issued the following update:

"We are sorry to report that the show tonight in Thessaloniki, Greece has had to be cancelled, as Nick [Holmes, vocals] is seriously ill and unable to perform. Two doctors have examined him since his arrival in Greece yesterday, but have advised him that performing tonight would cause irreparable damage, and so the show had to be stopped. Nick and the band are all very annoyed at the situation and extremely sorry to all of you who have bought tickets to tonight's show. We will keep you updated, in the mean time we hope you will join us in wishing Nick a speedy recovery."

PARADISE LOST will support Finnish rockers HIM on their European tour in February/March 2008. The band will use this great opportunity, which coincides with the band's 20th anniversary in 2008, to further promote their acclaimed "In Requiem" album.

"Over The Madness – A Diran Noubar Film" — which offers the first-ever, extremely comprehensive and very personal documentary on PARADISE LOST and the gothic metal genre — was released via Century Media Records on November 26, 2007 as a double DVD set. The film's world premiere was held at the Cannes Film Festival's Market in May 2007 followed by a German premiere at the Wave Gotik Festival in Leipzig the same month. The documentary features first-hand accounts from all current and former band members and many other dramatically influential acts. Furthermore, Noubar accompanied the band from their native Halifax (UK) to tour stops in Mexico and Greece where PARADISE LOST are regarded rock "gods."

Machine Head Play Show Despite Family Loss

MACHINE HEAD guitarist Phil Demmel's father passed away a few hours before the group's concert Friday (December 7) in Zurich, Switzerland. During the band's performance, frontman Robb Flynn dedicated the song "Descend the Shades of Night" to everyone who has lost someone important in his/her life, before adding, "like it happened today in our family" and informing the crowd that Phil's dad had just died. Demmel reportedly cried while playing the solo to the track, which Flynn had previously described as "an eight-minute elegy on death."

As previously reported, MACHINE HEAD's show in Milan, Italy on Thursday (December 6) was cut short after Demmel apparently fainted/collapsed on stage 35 minutes into MACHINE HEAD's set (during the intro to "Descend the Shades of Night"). He was subsequently tended to by medical emergency professionals and reportedly didn't require hospitalization (the ambulance was seen driving away empty).

Fan-filmed video footage of the moment when Demmel collapsed on stage in Milan and the subsequent statement the other members of MACHINE HEAD made from the stage regarding Demmel's condition can be viewed below.

MACHINE HEAD's concerts in Milan and Zurich were part of the band's European "The Black Crusade" tour with TRIVIUM, DRAGONFORCE, ARCH ENEMY and SHADOWS FALL. More...

California Couple To Put On Twisted Sister Concert

Lori Basheda of The Orange County Register reports that a Newport Beach, California couple borrowed $100,000 to book TWISTED SISTER with the hopes that they will sell enough tickets to make all their money back, and then some.

The couple dreamed up the scheme on the heels of their engagement in September (while listening to a TWISTED SISTER song) as a way to start their marriage off on the right foot.

Now, you might be thinking, going into debt $100,000 to throw a heavy metal concert sounds suspiciously like starting off on the wrong foot.

But then you haven’t heard the whole story. The Dec. 14 show will raise money for the Southern California families of military personnel in Iraq.

They hope.

If "A Twisted Christmas…Caroling for the Corps" sells all 4,300 seats at the Bren Events Center at UCI, it will pay off the loan the couple took out, and raise more than $100,000 for the Southern California Chapter of Operation Homefront, a national organization that helps pay the bills for the families of deployed troops and those who return home wounded.

It's a big if. The couple has 3,700 tickets to sell, and only seven days left to sell them. TWISTED SISTER and two other bands, METAL SKOOL and THE IRON MAIDENS (a female tribute band to IRON MAIDEN), didn't commit until about three weeks ago, so the couple hasn't had much time to get the word out.

Kreator Post Update

The following message has been posted via Kreator's official Myspace:

"Following their truly global Enemy of God World Tour, thrash gods Kreator will be parking the steamrollers for a while and taking a creative break in 2008 to concentrate on writing new material and recording their next album. Live activity for the band in 2008 will only be sporadic, consisting primarily of selected festival appearances. Kreator’s next album is currently scheduled for release in January of 2009, to be followed by an extensive world tour later
in the year.

To make the long wait a little less painful for Kreator fans, March of 2008 sees the re-release on DVD of “Live in East Berlin” and “Hallucinative Comas”, both re-edited and previously only available on VHS video cassette. The DVD release goes out under the title “At the pilse of Kapitulation – Live in east Berlin 1990”.

Here are a few of Mille’s own comments:

Tour:
As another year winds down, I think back on all the wild, ultra-aggressive Kreator concerts we played in 2007. We ran into lots of our old friends again and made many new ones as well. I’d like to say ‘Thanks!’ at this point to all the promoters and fans who made it possible! The legion of Kreator supporters is growing all the time, and you made 2007 a very exciting year for us in the band.

Album:
Right now, it’s time for us to recharge our batteries and write some new songs. A little like the creature in ‘Alien’, several ideas for the next album have been brooding inside me for a while and now they’re ready to burst out of my chest and take the Kreator story to the next level. Musically, the whole concept will be very brutal and melodic! I’ve been working for over a year now between gigs with Tim Schuldt at 4 CN Studio in Wuppertal, Germany on the demos, and at the
moment there are 10 basic ideas and fragments for new songs. Starting in January of 2008, the band will get together in Essen to start working out arrangements for the new stuff.

DVD:
Over the years, I’ve met lots of people in and around Berlin who’s first metal experience ever was the concert we did there in the early 90’s at the ‘Werner Seelenbinder Halle’. The new DVD features some of these people in recent interviews, and there are also some original quotes from back then. Words don’t do justice to the energy that was in the air that day in East Berlin, and the whole event can only be described as utterly unique and historic.

Up until now this legendary concert was only available as a VHS video with less-than-ideal sound quality. But Niels Folta and I have carefully digitalized all the material and upgraded it to today’s
standards, re-edited everything and called in Andy Sneap to mix it all in 5.1 sound format. The result is a tremendous upgrade in the quality of the whole thing without destroying the early 90s charm of the original.

Plus, the DVD also contains the Hallucinative Coma video from 1991. This was our mini horror movie for the "Coma of Souls" album at the time. For the DVD, original director Andreas Marshall has personally re-edited his own ‘Director’s Cut’, featuring never-seen-before scenes that the censors just couldn’t stomach back in the day. All in all, this new DVD is a great metal package featuring the best of the original and plenty of extra features to get your head around!

Stay tuned for more details………"

As of right now, there’s about 6 to 8 songs finished, and we hope to have a few more completed before we break. As some of you may have read, we’ve taken a different approach to writing this record than we have the past few years, and so far it’s been a lot of fun. The material seems to be flowing freely, and each song is different from the other. We feel like we’re accomplishing what we set out to do, which is to write a record that pushes boundaries for us creatively. We can’t wait for you all to hear it. More updates to come…”

The Funeral Pyre Prepare For West Coast Tour

Los Angeles-based band THE FUNERAL PYRE will hit the road in January for a West Coast Tour alongside Seattle's BOOK OF BLACK EARTH. Starting in Seattle in early January, the package will head down to California before wrapping up.

Currently writing new material for a forthcoming new album, THE FUNERAL PYRE will showcase a new song on the road alongside songs from the band's latest effort, "The Nature of Betrayal", which saw a March re-release through Prosthetic via a distribution deal with Creator Destructor Records.

"We are finishing songs, playing them live and fine tuning what will be the third installment in the FUNERAL PYRE career of metal," the band recently wrote on its blog. "It's been a long time already, to think that we're already on our third record!? Nobody would have ever guessed we'd be here. I mean, we're not popular or anything, but hey, I like to think that we've accomplished a lot! If you have heard any of the new songs live, I'd really enjoy if you could give us some feedback about what you thought of them. These songs will be different than 'The Nature Of Betrayal' but yet the same...It's a big cycle we go through, you hear the same music, but it sounds different. How does that work? I'm not quite sure, but you will find out in 2008." More...
