Lamb Of God Play In The Dark In Kansas City
A Blabbermouth.net user reported the following from the Memorial Hall in Kansas City on Friday, December 7:
"I went to see the KILLSWITCH ENGAGE/LAMB OF GOD show at Memorial Hall in Kansas City last night [Friday, December 7] and LAMB's set was kinda different. First, they reported that on their way to KC, their bus had been hit by a semi-truck. I don't think anyone was hurt, but they did mention it. Second, about a third of the way through their set, all the lights quit working. After a few minutes of playing in pitch black, they stopped and were told that the lights weren't going to come back on. Randy [Blythe, LAMB OF GOD singer] said, 'We'll play this motherfucker in the dark, I don't care,' told everyone to be careful and watch out for each other, and launched back into it. They finished the show with nothing but a few small house lights on. Pretty cool, different situation and they said it was the most memorable show of the tour, one time even saying, 'You know, back in the day, when Abe Lincoln went to metal shows, he had to do it by candlelight.' The lights were fixed between sets and KILLSWITCH was able to use them."

Can YouTube Evict Led Zeppelin?
This is the question that PC World poses. An excerpt from the article follows:
The company recently implemented digital fingerprinting technology to identify videos that the company has been asked by the copyright owner not to post on the site. The technology compares posted clips with reference videos supplied to YouTube for analysis.
It relies on identifying consistent qualities in a video, said Struan Robertson, senior associate with Pinsent Masons and editor of the legal Web site Out-law.com.
But the technology doesn't work as well with batches of different clips with different characteristics, even if the clips are all from the same event.
"That's more difficult when you are dealing with a live performance because the sound quality is poor and the image quality is similarly poor and probably very varied according to who was filming and where they were in the crowd," Robertson said.
Video clips of legendary rock band Led Zeppelin's reunion show in London on Monday are reappearing hourly on YouTube despite efforts to remove the material due to alleged copyright infringement. YouTube warns users in its "help center" that they may not own the rights to upload concert footage to its site.
Some links to videos of the band's performance lead to a red warning that says the video has been removed "due to a copyright claim by Warner Music Group."
According to a reliable southern Ontario-based BW&BK news source, the band's management "has requested the removal of any clips of the event", even though the Warner Music Group has a licensing agreement with YouTube that would technically allow fans to upload material, because Led Zeppelin own the rights to the footage.
Note that despite some of these links being shut down the day of the posting, they are ALL working now.

Transparent Post New Music Online
TRANSPARENT, the Danish band featuring vocalist Rene Pedersen (MERCENARY), lead guitarist Signar Petersen (ex-MERCENARY), drummer Morten Lowe Soerensen (SUBMISSION, THE ARCANE ORDER), and bassist Mads Stagis and rhythm guitarist Danny Hove Jensen, has made two new songs available for streaming on its MySpace page. The tracks come off the group's new EP, "My Criterion 666", which was produced and mixed by Casper Skafte (SMAXONE) and mastered by Ziggy (ILLDISPOSED, MERCENARY). According to a press release, the follow-up to 2005's "Mutual Assured Destruction" EP is "a fictional concept album based on John's Revelation from the New Testament. It is a story about a person raised by a satanic cult, 'The Black Legion', whose purpose is to fulfill the prophecy of John — the person has to become the antichrist and has to lead the ultimate war against god and all of Christianity. But is he really the antichrist, the one to face god in the final battle between good and evil or is he just a normal person brainwashed by a cult of religious fanatics whose purpose is to bring Armageddon upon this world?"
TRANSPARENT's music is said to be "a combination between classic metal bands like TESTAMENT and MEGADETH with a touch of new cutting edge metal from the likes of ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD and FEAR FACTORY. The music is aggressive with classic songwriting and melodic solos."

New Anthrax Singer Talks About Landing The Job
Anthrax recently announced new singer, Dan Nelson. Nelson is a virtual unknown, having fronted several local bands in the Long Island/ New York area in the past. Says drummer Charlie Benante, “Rob [Caggiano] called me and said, ‘I have a singer, you should check him out.’ We gave him a shot, and he floored us.”
After a successful reunion tour with former singer Joey Belladonna in 2006, there were rumors of recording a new album with that lineup. However, talks fell through and the band was left, once again, without a singer. Enter Dan Nelson.
“I was actually looking for a band,” commented Nelson. “ Long Island , NY is a pretty dead scene. I was in Unbroken, and through that I met Rob a couple years ago. I had gone through some stuff on a personal side where I took time off from the music. When I got back to the scene, I couldn’t find a band, so I contacted Rob through MySpace and offered my services. We sent music back and forth, got together, and jammed for 10 hours straight. After 10 hours, he said, ‘I think you’d be right for Anthrax.”
“There’s no place else I’d rather be right now,” Nelson said. “It’s a great vibe. I feel great, and I’m ready to go. It’s lit that much more of a fire under me. I’m getting to live the dream, and it feels amazing. I can’t wait for all these people who think Anthrax is done to be proven wrong. The naysayers are gonna be shut down, and the true blue fans are gonna be pleased.”
Guitarist Scott Ian commented on the new singer saying, “It feels great working with Dan. The first time we jammed, we ran through a bunch of old songs, songs from the John Bush/ Joey Belladonna eras. Right from the first second Dan started “Room For One More” we knew. We said, ‘Now that we’ve got that, let’s work his ass off.”
Anthrax, featuring Nelson on vocals, guitarists Ian and Rob Caggiano, bassist Frankie Bello, and drummer Benante, is currently working on all-new material. “We wrote these songs and they fucking kicked ass,” says Benante. “It was cathartic. We also want to take our time. This record will be under the microscope, more so than the others. We want to make sure it’s 100% perfect.”
In related news, two classic Anthrax records - “Sound of White Noise” and “Stomp 442” - are going to be available on iTunes on December 18. They will be expanded editions with bonus tracks, and it’s the first time the records will be released digitally. The online versions of the albums will also include commentary tracks from the band members themselves.
Anthrax has not yet announced a release date for an upcoming album, but the band is in the middle of the writing process, so stay tuned for more updates.

Guitarist Steve Harris says, "This will be a very special show for us for many reasons as the Powerslave Tour was the first time we visited Poland all the way back in 1985 which was a really big deal back then owing to the country being under Soviet rule at that time. Despite what many people told us to expect of life 'Behind the Iron Curtain' we found only the most friendly of welcomes from the fans in Poland some of whom would save up nearly a months wages just to get hold of one our records at that time. So ever since then we've always tried to make sure we got to Poland on every tour as the fans there always remind us of that amazing time."

My Ruin Post Another New Song Online
Los Angeles-based hard rock band MY RUIN has posted a new song, "Through The Wound", on the group's MySpace page. The CD was recorded at The Hobby Shop in Los Angeles and co-produced by MY RUIN guitarist Mick Murphy and producer/engineer Duane Burda.
According to vocalist Tairrie B, "Through The Wound" is a very personal song which was recorded only a few weeks after her car accident in late 2006. "I was still living in the moment in many ways, on heavy painkillers and not able to fully straighten my arm which was filled with staples from my surgery and skin graft at the time," she says. "I would be tracking vocals and my fingers would swell up and hand would go numb. It was all so surreal." More...

Chiodos Pull Out Of Soundwave For Linkin Park
Chiodos, following the lead of Coheed And Cambria, Social Distortion, and Ace Enders, have become the fourth band to pull out of this years' Soundwave Festival in Australia. Though no news has yet been released on a replacement for Chiodos, replacing the other three on the line-up is Infectious Groves, City And Colour, and Alexisonfire. Coheed And Cambria decided not to come down under after being confirmed for the Soundwave fest when Linkin Park offered them a support spot on their US tour. Chiodos have now reported the exact same situation, and neither band has given any real reason for the late switch. A Soundwave fest organiser made this statement on the festival's message board:
"For the record, they were getting paid more from [Soundwave] than they are from Linkin Park. I suspect they are doing this stadium tour because their label and publisher demanded it and if the band did not do this they would have found their new album fall off the priority list. In any case, as is our policy at SW, we will always strive to replace any drop-out with a band of bigger or simillar stature. Sometimes, of course, it is impossible to get a carbon copy, but in terms of quality, we will always strive to match or exceed."
Coheed And Cambria issued the following statement:
"Linkin Park has personally invited us to support them in the US during this time and after a lot of thought, we have accepted. While this is good news for us and our fans in the US, we realize it is a blow to you down under and in mainland Europe, and we apologize for any inconvenience this will cause."
The band has assured us that they "will instead come to [Australian] shores at the end of March to play our own theater shows", but have not yet assured us of exact dates or locations. Chiodos' statement on their MySpace page said essentially the same thing:
"Dear the country/continent of Australia,We regret to inform you that we have to cancel our dates on the “soundwave festival.” BUT WAIT, things will get sexier. We got an offer for a tour in the states that we couldn’t turn down with the position that were in. I know this sounds like were totally bailing on a bunch of totally wicked sweet dudes and dudettes, but were not. It was a really tough decision, all of us dudes were really really excited to hang out and head bang with you aussies, but it comes down to this opportunity that we can’t pass up. Hopefully you don’t hate on us and fly over to kill brad’s dog, steal derrick’s tobacco bong, give jason a shower, steal pat’s shoes, hot-wire craig’s car, and lastly pop my butt cherry. All of us know that violence is not the answer, BECAUSE we’ll be coming to australia soon, no worries. I have a scheduled fight with a kangaroo anyway, and that thing has been talking way too much shit, SO when that happens everyone is invited to watch me kick the shit out of this kangaroo, i’ve been training.
to sexy accents,
Matt CHIODOS"
