Fight Breaks Out at Oceano Show; Video Available

Chicago deathcore metal band, OCEANO, are quickly gaining notoriety as the angriest band on the planet and now, it seems, their anger is starting to rub off onto their fans.

At the band's recent gig on December 10th at the Chenga 57 indoor skate park in Lorain, Ohio, the aptly-titled "Seasons Beatings" tour took a much more literal meaning. OCEANO got the crowd so worked up that a full-scale brawl erupted during the band's set, even forcing front-man ADAM WARREN to stop the band mid-song.

"Everyone was moshing and getting a little crazy - just like always;" says the former backyard wrestler. "There were these kids around the pit that kept getting hit and didn't like it too much, so they went after the kids who were hitting them. It kept going back and forth and more and more kids were getting involved each time." More...

3 Inches Of Blood Talks About Split w/ Roadrunner

MetalSucks recently caught up with 3 INCHES OF BLOOD vocalist Cam Pipes before their hometown show in Vancouver with BISON B.C. Pipes spoke about touring in support of the band's most recent record, the band's split with Roadrunner Records, writing new material, and what the future holds for 3 INCHES OF BLOOD. An excerpt follows:

MetalSucks: One of the major events this year is that you’ve split with Roadrunner records. What happened to that relationship between the label and the band?

Cam Pipes: It was time for them to decide if they were going to pick up the option for the next record. They didn’t and we’re happy about it because we didn’t really like being with that label. There was a lot of things inside the label that we didn’t like in terms of how they showed their support for us and how they pushed our band in the press. We really didn’t see eye to eye on a lot of things. They’re a really big corporate label now owned by Warner, so they’re moving strictly in a “We want to make money” direction and we weren’t putting up the numbers that they would have liked to see. We got dropped on the priority list time and time again and then they finally decided that it wasn’t economically viable to keep releasing this band. It's enabled us to be a lot more creative on where we want to go. We’re not tied down to a long term contract anymore, so we can go explore other options and hopefully we’ll be a little more free to do certain things with a label that’s a lot more focused to promote us in a better way and [is] more geared towards our style.

MetalSucks: Are you looking for a label right now or are you happy to be an unsigned touring band?

Cam Pipes: We started looking for labels right off the bat and we’re still weighing our options, but we think we might be getting close. I’m not going to give away any names of potential labels right now but something could happen soon. We’re going to keep writing either way. That was always our focus to just be writing around this time and putting out new songs.

Dream Evil Launches DVD Trailer, New Song Online

Swedish melodic metal band DREAM EVIL released "Gold Medal In Metal (Alive & Archive)," their first live-release as DVD and CD earlier this year. The set includes a comprehensive bonus-CD compilation of more than an hour of quality rare and unreleased studio tracks. The band has now released a brand-new trailer for this release, which can be viewed below (after the jump).

Furthermore, the title track of this release, "Gold Medal In Metal," which is one of the many previously unreleased studio tracks included on the "Bronze Medal" disc has been launched on the band's MySpace page. "Gold Medal In Metal" was originally written and recorded as part of the sessions for the classic album "The Book Of Heavy Metal."

The double-CD, with a laying time of over 2 hours, and the special DVD version (playing time of the DVD is over 100 minutes and both audio CD's are included in this package as well) are a complete guide into the vaults of DREAM EVIL

Currently, DREAM EVIL is working on material for a new studio album and guitarist / producer Fredrik Nordström checks in with a short status report and end-of-the-year message:

"We are right now writing songs for the next album with the working title "In The Night". I believe that the release date will be before Summer of next year. As usual will we prepare approximately 30 songs and take the 15 best for recording. We will enter the studio on December 8th to start recording 4-5 songs and then continue in. Other than that, I can tell you that the DREAM EVIL camp now has 11 kids in total (MINI EVIL will start touring 2020, haha) and 2 of them are not even one year old, so we will have to wait some more before we can do longer tours again, but those who are waiting for some good stuff shall not remain waiting for too long. Consequently we are working on some shorter tours and festival appearances around the planet. So have a heavy metal fistmas and a sloppy new year!!!"

Expect more updates and activity by DREAM EVIL soon in 2009, as also the following live shows have already been confirmed: More...
