Karnivool Posts Album Update and Photos
Karnivool have posted a dual update regarding their highly-anticipated second album. Guitarist Drew Goddard issued the following studio update:
"YES! There’s a pulse! We are alive and breathing in 2009. Firstly, we apologise for the lack of updates. It’s now completely apparent that when we create an album we have a tendency to get sucked headfirst into a vortex, some parallel universe - home to the fairies, gnomes and goblins and long fucking hours in the studio.
"Thankfully, we have an end in sight. We are spending the rest of this month and early February finishing extra tracking, (yes there’s lots) and then mixing through to the end of the month. We can’t thank everyone enough, for the constant flow of support and interest, and especially patience while we conduct our bizarre, drawn out and slightly masochistic ritual that is our songwriting/recording process. We’ve almost finished a new video blog that’s captured a lot of what has been happening over the last couple of months, this will be up in the next couple of days. Until then, check the pictures section for some snaps of the band at work in the studio, and for those who have not stumbled across it whilst getting lost in the wonders of youtube, attached to this blog is a live version of a song called “Deadman” from the show at The Metro in Sydney last year. The song will feature on the upcoming 2nd album due for release early this year. We will be revealing the album title and release date in the coming weeks and will continue to post updates more regularly from now and up to the time of release. We’re all very excited about what we’ve produced over the last 4 years, (haha!) and can’t wait to share it with you. Thanks again and check back shortly."
Additionally, two pages of photos from the band's recent time in the studio can be found here.
Karnivool's second, currently untitled album should hit stores this summer, and is expected to include songs that the band has been playing live for a while including "New Day" and "Goliath".

Molotov Solution Signs To Metal Blade
Metal Blade Records has announced the signing of Las Vegas’ Molotov Solution. Their Metal Blade debut album is currently being mixed and tracking was done by Kelly Cairns and mixing by the duo of Tim Lambesis and Daniel Castleman at Lambesis Studios (Sworn Enemy, Impending Doom, War Of Ages) in San Diego, CA. Mastering was left in the more than capable hands of Alan Douches at West West Side Music. The album promises to be one of the most extreme and thought provoking releases of the year.
Metal Blade president Mike Faley comments: “Molotov Solution is a musical assault on your senses, bombastic music with social and politically charged lyrics. That is as incendiary as it gets.”
More tours and shows are on deck as the band prepares for the release of the album.
“We are extremely proud to be added to the legendary Metal Blade family! Being signed to a major metal label has always been one of the hopes and dreams of this band, and signing to one as accomplished and dedicated as Metal Blade is very exciting. We would like to thank Metal Blade and our management, The Artery Foundation, for being so patient this last year and making this dream a reality.
"As for the new album, you can expect a huge improvement from the last one. The band has progressed to new levels of writing and the songs will be heavier than they've ever been and more aggressive as a whole. This is the proudest and most excited I have ever felt about a release. Huge thanks goes out to Tim Lambesis, Daniel Castleman, and Kelly 'The Carnage' Cairns at Lambesis Studios for being so amazing to work with and putting great effort towards making our new album an amazing release.” - Robbie Pina, Molotov Solution
The album is tentatively slated for the summer of 2009. In the meantime, you can check out some of their material on their MySpace page.

Cable Reunites and Signs To The End Records
Why Hartford, Connecticut’s CABLE are not a household name—at least in households familiar with Unsane and Quicksand—is a mystery that may never be solved. The veteran noisy rockers worked the scene for a dozen years, releasing records on labels such as Hydra Head, Translation Loss, Doghouse and touring alongside bands like Isis and 5ive, before calling it quits in 2006.
“So many bands were blowing up playing music that was similar to ours but we always seemed to stay in the same rut. It was mostly our own fault, really, but we also felt that it was at least partly because we never compromised our vision to suit a new ‘hot sound’ or played what was big at the time,” explains drummer Vic Szalaj. “We came to refine that ‘Cable Sound,’ as many called it, but it never seemed to get us anywhere and I guess we felt jaded, abused and tired of the same old shit and we just stopped playing.”
“After over a year off, we were getting anxious to play again,” says Szalaj. “We have such cool, enthusiastic family, friends and fans that gave us the energy we needed to get going again, so in early 2008 we began writing new material.” More...
Megadeth Finishing Up Drum Tracks
Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following album update online:
"We are on the last day or so of drum tracks, and barring the debacle at the top of the session, we have been able to maintain the typical Vic quality with the recording.
"Chris Broderick has been coming down more and more and it really is starting to feel like a band again (sometimes it feels more like a session when we break after a tour and the time-lapse, before we feel like we are in stride again). More...

Loudness To Record A New Studio Album
Japanese heavy metal act Loudness has confirmed that, despite the recent loss of drummer Munetaka Higuchi, they will be recording a brand new studio album. A translated blog from guitarist Akira Takasaki reads as follows:
"From the vast amount of data (of drums recorded by Munetaka in the past), we will extract Munetaka's great groove and sound. On top of that, we're putting a new riff and rhythm. The new album will be based on Munetaka's groove at its maximum. I'm writing guitar riffs that would sound like nothing but Loudness. I'm trying to make it a gigantic rock album that would satisfy Munetaka, as he was always complaining 'This isn't loud enough' or 'This needs to be more heavier.' He loved Metal Mad so much, I'm sure he wanted to go on tour with that album. We regret that we couldn't go out to the world with that album. We're gonna be writing numbers of hard, heavy, crazy, and loud songs that will top Metal Mad. So Munetaka, please lend your hands."
