Helix Issues Year End Recap

Front man Brian Vollmer of Canadian hard rock act Helix has issued the following 2008 year-end recap:

"What a great year it was! We began the year still working the POWER OF ROCK AND ROLL CD. I was coaching Rudy Blair of 680 news for the media portion of Canadian Idol and ----HE WON! Rudy gave his prize of $1,000 to the Alzheimer’s Society . Congrats Rudy. (*Editor’s note: Rudy was featured in Homes and Condominiums in The Toronto Sun on Saturday Jan. 4th). We played a sold out show in our hometown of London, Ontario to start off the year-a good omen. A sad gig was our only time playing at Healey’s in Toronto, only to find out the next day that Jeff had passed away on the same evening…He will be missed…In the spring Then in July we played South Texas Rock Festival in San Antonio, Texas. Tom Mathers met us at the airport and took us to several record in stores that he had set up. 30,000 rabid fans attended the festival that weekend in 100-120 degree heat. It was the HOTTEST gig we ever played! Returning to Canada we played several northern Ontario runs and played in the following cities: Thunder Bay, Geraldton, (with April Wine), North Bay, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Frostmoon Eclipse Streams Lovecraft Themed Songs

The three songs that black metal act Frostmoon Eclipse contributed to the H.P. Lovecraft Series will be available for streaming on the band's MySpace page until the end of January.

Released on God Is Myth Records at the end of 2008, FROSTMOON ECLIPSE’s “I Am Providence” is Volume VI of the series dedicated to the writer H.P. Lovecraft. Each of the albums in the series features an individual band, and is limited to 100 copies of specially packaged 3” CD-r’s.

The final track “Providence, 1937-03-15” is our tribute to this extraordinary writer who died much too soon."

Unearth To Use Replacement Guitarist On Tour

Unearth guitarist Buz McGrath has issued the following statement:

"Greetings All, I just wanted to take this opportunity to explain my absence from the upcoming UNEARTH tour with Emmure, Impending Doom, and Born of Osiris.

My wife and I are in the process of adopting a baby, and currently we are overseas taking the final steps to begin our new roles as parents. Not to worry though, as filling in for me will be the extremely capable hands of Emil Werstler of DAATH fame. He is also know in some circles as SHREDDY KRUEGER, so be sure to peep his skills.

This line up of bands is beyond sick, so do what you gotta do to get to the show!! I will be back soon to resume my duties in UNEARTH, shredding like a chimpanzee on angel dust."

Unearth front man Trevor Phipps had this to add: "Everyone can rest assured that we will be playing a full set throughout the "Fuck School, Fuck Work, Let's Rage! Tour". We are lucky enough to have the services of Emil Werstler, so we won't miss a beat. All of us in Unearth want to congratulate Buz and Dawn on their family addition. "
