Mothra Inks Deal With Selfmadegod Records

Selfmadegod Records has issued the following statement about their recent record deal with Mothra:

Selfmadegod Records is proud to announce the signing of mathcore/metal band Mothra from Opole, Poland.

Mothra has been destroying stages since 2000 with Piotr Koryzma (vocals), Daniel Szwed (drums), Andrzej Burzynski (bass) and Pawel Stefan Rosiak (guitar) on board. After first few months of existence, band recorded their first promo single, entitled "Sugar '01." After that, the musicians focused on touring and writing new songs, which appeared on 2004's "Demo" CD—a six-track EP, recorded by the band. It wasn't awesome-sounding material with killing production work, but even still, listeners found energy rarely presented in the same way, joined with mathematicly combined yet still melodic playing. The following years were filled with a lot of gigs and meeting a lot of interesting and inspiring people, which helped the band to realize some of their ideas. It was Mothra's breakout period, as they composed material for their full-length debut album. "Planet Decibelian" was released by the young polish label Red Swallow in May of 2006. It contained 11 brutal-sounding, math-combined songs and got enthusiastic reviews. More...

Egoist Signs To Selfmadegod Records

Selfmadegod Records has added one man band Egoist to their roster. The record label issued the following statement:

Selfmadegod Records is proud to announce the signing of one-man alternative metal band Egoist from Bielsko-Biala, Poland.

Egoist was founded and lead by the very young and enormously talented musician Stanislaw Wolonciej (guitars, bass, drums, vocals, synthesizers, production, artwork). The artist was born in 1986 in Bielsko-Biala, Poland. In his 20s, Stanislaw's father was a bass player in the band Fatum. Music has always been present in Stan's home. Everything began when he was eight, though. His parents wanted him to take piano lessons, which he did for about four years.

One of the really cool things that he could have done, but never did, was take part in the makings of the debut album from C-187, together with Patrick Mameli (ex-Pestilence), who is his old-time hero. Patrick wanted him to appear on the album, but in the end Sean Reinert (Cynic, Death) performed the drums. More...

Stryper Reveals New Album Title and Track Listing

Christian hard rock act Stryper has revealed that their new album will be titled "Murder by Pride." Stryper front man Michael Sweet issued the following statement about the album:

“After years of speaking to fans and hearing comments like “more guitars”, “more solos” and “more screams”, I decided to keep those comments in mind as I wrote each song. It was important to me to try to get back to that early sound of Stryper yet at the same time, to remain relevant today. It’s certainly not an easy thing to do but as I listen to “Murder By Pride”, I think that was accomplished.

I got the idea of the title “Murder By Pride” from seeing pride consume dreams, goals and many times, lives. We all deal with pride and it can be crippling, so I wanted to write a lyric and a theme that would be a constant reminder of that. This record has been in the works for a long, long time and I can only hope that it was worth the wait!”

The album's track listing is as follows: More...

Remembering Never Working On New Material

Remembering Never frontman Peter Kowalsky (aka Mean Pete) has revelaed to Lambgoat.com that he is once again working on new material with Danny (the two make up the duo who wrote most of the band's latest effort). Here's an excerpt from Pete's update:

"The RN camp as of late is in the beginning stages of blueprinting and kicking around ideas for whatever will be our new record, This Hell Is Home. Lambgoat took time out of their schedule to inquire about the late and not so great happenings.

"RN kind of imploded after our last tour with The Warriors and Full Blown Chaos that started when our long time drummer quit. When Danny left, we had a few fill-ins and just overall morale flew south, more so than ever. Touring 5 years non-stop with the same people will no doubt eventually turn into a very volatile situation, especially when one or more people suffer from depression and/or bi-polar disorders. Being in the band started feeling more like a business than a bunch of friends having fun. For the longest time I didn't even want to think of anything related to RN due to the mental strain it put me through. The stone cold truth of the matter is, because of the band, most of us were no longer friends, and it felt more like a chore than an opportunity to play shows in front of people that cared enough to come to the show and hang and have fun. For me, it's more important to be friends with the people that you put time and effort in with to write jams and tour with. There was a time we were more excited to go to random mall and steal everything in sight than to play the show later that day. Or for me and Aldo's case, we just wanted to go to used record stores and buy/trade as much awesome cheap shit we could. Actually, that part was great."

YOB Reunion Gig and New Album Updates

Profound Lore Records has provided the following updates on YOB's reunion gig and their new album:

"Doom metal giants YOB have confirmed their gig to commemorate their reunion on 2/28/2009 at The Ash Street Saloon in Portland, OR with support from The Iommi Stubbs and Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth (featuring the legend himself TAD DOYLE). One can only expect something of the most epic nature, since pretty much a YOB gig is an event in itself. The band are also trudging away on the material for their anticipated new album, which is shaping up to be the most monumental and crushing YOB material to date.

"As of now, the band plan on entering the studio late march with the mighty Sanford Parker at the helm with the goal to get this monolithic piece of doom out this summer.

"As for the new material, mastermind Mike Scheidt had this to say about it:

'The newest material is such a trip, I don't know how exactly to describe it. We have one song that is maybe the most brutal thing I have written ala 'Grasping Air/Exorcism Of The Host'. But more brutal, and painful.

'We have another new tune that is very melodic in a weird way, almost poppy, but driving almost like some of the material from that 'other band'. With strangeness that is hard to convey.

'The final 'epic' song (that is 16 minutes so far and definitely NOT done) is like a mix of the song 'Catharsis' and 'The Unreal Never Lived...' big clean guitar intro, big slow melodic riffs, patient big builds that explode... it's going to be huge. It's also going to be an immense challenge to keep this album in the 60 minute mark. Five songs total. Lots of clean singing. Still lots of screams and death roars too.'"

Under Eden Splits With Bassist And Recording Album

Death metal band Under Eden has issued the following statement about parting ways with their bassist and working on new material:

As is probably obvious by now, the completion of our next album has been delayed by everything from the mundane "real world" obligations of work and college to things of a more physically challenging nature like injuries and illness. Regardless, Under Eden is now back on track to record the remainder of the new songs in January. No plans for a self-released album though - we will be seeking a new label to put this one out!

In other band news, bassist Jesse Wedel has left Under Eden to pursue a new project. He will still contribute bass tracks to the upcoming album, but we will play our scheduled shows as a four-piece. Prior to Jesse joining back in 2005, it was just the four of us, so it'll be like "back in the day" for the immediate future. Although we are not auditioning bassists until recording is complete, anyone interested can certainly contact us for future consideration.

Communic Issues Year End Recap

Norwegian metal band Communic has issued the following year end recap:

Another year is blown away, and it has been a year full of highlights for Communic, and also on the personal level - even dough we didn't went on a tour this year.

This year we released our 3rd album, and at the same evening as the listening party for our album - I became a first time father to a beautiful girl that now already is nine months old. We was working to get a cool tour going to promote the album, but the right offer did not come our way, and in one way I'm glad. I have had the opportunitie to stay home with my daughter and spend as much time as possible on the family duties, I even got the guts to finally get married this winter! But, we had some great experiences on the stage as well. We played some cool festivals like Bloodstock, Masters Of Rock among others, and we even got to visit a new country when we played a festival in Lithuania this summer. More...

Throes Of Dawn Finishes Recording New Album

Finnish metal act Throes of Dawn has issued the following update about the recording of their new album:

"Finally, I am pleased to tell you that the recordings of the fifth album have been finished on most parts and the sound engineer will start the mixing process at the very beginning of January.

As you can guess, the recording of this album has not been an easy task. It has required the patience of a dead animal to pull this thing through. But I can guarantee you it has been well worth all the time and trouble. This album is going to be the ultimate Throes Of Dawn album, our magnum opus.

We are well behind the schedules and plans, and I´m not going to give you any release date because it will probably not hold anyway, but the most important thing is that we are actually making progress and all the work will be over very soon."
