A Chart of Heavy Metal Band Names and Categories
Someone has spent some serious time putting together this extensive chart, which fits names of heavy metal bands into five main categories of death, deadly things, animals, religion, and badass misspellings, and further breaks them down and combines them from there. You can take a look at the chart here.
The author definitely has a sense of humor too. See "triple umlat," the animals track leading to "party animals" and "adolescent poetry" for examples (among others).

Korndogg, I'm pretty sure this only took maybe 15-to thirty minutes to make, cuz it only took me 5 minutes to read the whole thing. It's just a couple band names organized into amusing catagories in a graphical representation. the onlt hing that might have taken time was designing the chart right, and I mean, it's not exactly an architectural plan for the empire state building, so how long could that have take anyway? the rest would just be "fill in the blanks" once the chart was done.
I probably spend more time reading sh** on this site than it took this guy to make this, and I have a 10-hour day job and got to the movies or parties 2 or 3 times a week after work, not getting home till like 3 am most times. So if I can spend that much time bullsh**ing with that kindof day that I have, I'm sure this guy could have gotten bored one day and decided he thought metal was funny enough to invest 15 minutes of his time into making an amusing chart.

Okay KORNDOGG, I took a glance at it and found it mildly entertaining, perhaps not all that "constructive" as you say. And believe me when I say this is not an insult, just an inquiry, but what are you doing that is so much more "constructive"?
I don't know you from Adam, so it would be ignorant to make any aspersions on what type of person you are. Like I said, not an insult. I just hear this phrase thrown around alot. I personally don't use it myself because I feel what people do in their own time is their own business, but also because of the way people on MU occasionally get told we need to "get a f***ing life" because we check these forums from time to time.
Or as a kid when I was told my comic-style art was a "waste of time" and I should use more realism. Or being told metal music was "screaming and banging on a guitar" or "no real talent". I think you see where I am going with this. This was probably made by some dude in his spare time for fun.
But the question still stands, and I'd be happy to hear anyone pipe in what they are doing that is more "constructive".

I've loved comics since I was born.
I wanted to be a comic-artist when I around 12-14, but after learning to "scream and bang on a guitar" at 15, I didnt draw as much. Music became more of a passion for me and I learned to play guitar, bass, and drums. And if anyone wants to throw in the "fat comic-geek living in his mothers basement with no social life" You'd be WAY off base.
I think my point was whatever you want to do with your time is constructive to you. At least this guy created something. It has a bit of artistry to it, and when is that ever a bad thing?

The chart would have been a lot more interesting if it were arranged into, as Kali put it, a family tree style. With the two major influences of a genre leading into it so that you could see where every genre originated from. THAT would have been interesting for me. Probably less amusing, tho :)

Psythe: That's a very cool idea. You could struture it like the tree of life which follows down to the tree of death. I did however enjoy the inverted Pentagram. I thought that was a nice touch as well.
Irish: Its your weenie you can wash it as fast as you want to, but be sure read the consumer warning on the side which states "Excessive washing can cause blindness". lol.

I look at this way, most people have time off from work. For me, it is usually during the weekend. I love to just sit around the house, sleep, listen to music, or watch movies...read comic books, whatever. The point being, everyone, usually has some free time in their life. If you are married, you more than likely have less time, but I could be wrong. Korndogg is a freakin' idiot, and appears to make statements, posts them, without thinking first. Just an observation, of course. I usually just chill at home, on the weekends...but that is me. I could care fukin' less if someone tells me I have NO social life. haha
To-K DOGG - you need to eventually move out of your mother's basement, dude - the world is huge!

Now Playing: Snot- Couldashouldawoulda (the funny thing is, I onl;y checked out this band because they just got the guy from Divine Heresy for their vocalist, and now I find that I like their original vocalist just as much. Go Figure.)
