Raging Speedhorn To Release New Album In October
Raging Speedhorn return to action with the release of their killer new studio album, "Hard To Kill," which will be available on vinyl, CD, download and all streaming platforms via their own Red Weed Records label on October 23. The album can be pre-ordered here.
Recorded with Russ Russell (Napalm Death, At The Gates) at Parlour Studios in Kettering, UK, Hard To Kill sees Raging Speedhorn once again upping their own ante in terms of song-writing finesse... playing riff-fuelled dirty heavy metal with aplomb.
"This album is straight-up Raging Speedhorn - with added extras," says founding co-frontman Frank Regan. "Right now, the band is on fire, the vibe is amazing, and we’re so happy to be back playing music. Six albums in and we’re still loving what we do."
The album - the follow-up to 2016’s "Lost Ritual" is the first to feature new vocalist Dan Cook who replaces long-standing co-vocalist John Loughlin. John stood down after 21 years during the recording of "Hard To Kill" leaving the mantle open for Dan. RSH also welcome new guitarist Dave Leese and former Hundred Reasons bassist Andy Gilmour who join founding drummer Gordon Morison and guitarist Jim Palmer.
The title track, for which the band recently unveiled a new, high-octane video (see below), is as monstrous and infectious as the sentiment itself, "Spitfire" is a groove-fuelled beast, while "Doom Machine" and "Hammer Down" are slow-paced, sludge behemoths that deliver with the ferocity that you’d expect from RSH. Katla Announces Sophomore Album
Katla are now revealing the first track 'Villuljós' ("false light") taken from their forthcoming sophomore album "Allt þetta Helvítis Myrkur", which will be released on November 13th. More information about this record can be found below.
Katla comment on the single: "When I wrote 'Villuljós', which means 'false light', I was in a depressive period of my life", tells multi-instrumentalist Einar Thorberg Guðmundsson. "Everything happend in such a dark haze that I cannot even remember the actual process of creating the demo. When we finally recorded the album, it was done with a more more positive energy. Actually caring about what I was doing helped a lot to get it right. Although the track has not lost its original sonic darkness, I feel very good about the final outcome. Guðmundur Óli has perfectly translated this musical feeling into lyrical darkness. This is the light that represents a false hope." More...
Song Of Anhubis Reveals New Album Details
Basque's Song of Anhubis will be unleashing their sophomore album "Reversed Reflection" via Rockshots Records on October 23rd, 2020. The band creates a passionate, introspective, intense, and diverse gothic metal that was first introduced to the world on their 2016 debut full length "Revenge As Redemption". Not quite following in the exact musical footsteps of their precursive album, their second record takes a 180-degree turn as it experiments with electronic elements and sounds more akin to rock and metal along with their staple gothic influences.
Featuring 10 tracks, "Reversed Reflection" is a journey between two opposing worlds, light and darkness, the instinctive, and the rational. Blunt guitars and arpeggios are combined with electronic elements, very melodic passages even melancholic in some cases, with the strength of double bass drumming and simpler fragments with the addition of some extra ingredients that will surprise listeners. All of the emotion on the record is felt through the diverse vocal range of frontwoman Rei Reych.
Reych adds: "I have always been passionate about music and singing since I was very young, so music has been present in my life all the time, both in good times and bad. That's why I always wanted to create my own soundtrack for my feelings and experiences, to be able to express everything that is sometimes difficult to define with words alone. When I met Paul (the guitarist of 'Song of Anhubis') collaborating with my voice in a concert of the band in which he played, and after having already been the vocalist of two bands, he offered me to start a project together. We had the same musical interests, a very similar taste and we connected great from the beginning, so when he showed me the riffs he had composed, I accepted immediately, we started this adventure called 'Song Of Anhubis'…" More...
Eternal Idol To Release New Album In November
Italian symphonic/melodic metallers Eternal Idol return with a revamped, re-energised line-up and an exciting new album with "Renaissance." Featuring Fabio Lione (Rhapsody, Angra) and Claudia Layline as co-lead vocalists, guitarist Nick Savio (Hollow Haze), bassist Andrea Burratto (Secret Sphere, Hell In The Club) and drummer Enrico Fabris, the quintet’s second album is an epic maelstrom of symphonic/melodic metal that will delight fans of the genre who treasure intense songwriting and impeccable vocal performances.
Lione and new member Layline provided the majority of the lyrics and vocal melodies, with Savio on songwriting and arrangement duties. The album was produced by Savio and Lione and mixed by Simone Mularoni (DGM, Sunstorm) and it represents both a promise and statement from Eternal Idol: to be one of the absolute best symphonic/melodic metal releases of 2020!
"This is the album I have dreamed of making for my entire career," says Savio. "We had a vision and made it with no compromises. Claudia and Enrico are the perfect new additions to complete the symphonic, hard, melodic sound that we wanted to achieve. The first single, ‘Into The Darkness’, has also resulted in our most epic video thus far. It is simply fantastic and we love how it turned out. When the time comes, we are ready to hit the stage and share these new songs with you all." More...
Jinjer Announces First Live Album
Today, Ukrainian modern metal leaders Jinjer have announced the official release of the audio recordings from one of the last metal shows played on the planet before the global Covid-19 lockdown: their ferocious sold out Melbourne, Australia performance on March 5, 2020.
Their newly announced upcoming live album, "Alive In Melbourne" features stunning artwork by gifted Jinjer fan Gabriel Nicoletti, includes 17 tracks in total (see tracklist below) and will be released on November 20, 2020 via Napalm Records.
Commented the band: "Some shows just deserve to be carved in stone and memorialized forever. This was the case regarding our first ever Australian tour in March 2020, where we hit a few milestones all at once: we finally played on every continent there is to play on, our first time in down under was a complete sellout and more importantly we experienced the love, passion and craziness we've always heard so much about the Australian crowd. Hell, there were even fans from New Zealand that showed up to the party. Now, after nearly half year of lockdown I can barely watch this footage without shedding a few tears. If any of you knew how much time, patience, nerves and effort we put into making this live album possible- you would probably be surprised we managed to pull it off at all. Adversity kept coming and coming, and coming at us again and again but here we are : 'Alive in Melbourne' 2020 is real and it's coming out in all it's visual and sonic glory! Let's watch it, listen to it and let's remember how a real metal gig should look and sound: the sweat, the volume, the performance and the crowd … we need this feeling back! I am proud that we managed to capture this place in time and share it with you as our first official live album!" More...
