Uncle Woe Reveals New Album Details

Canada’s Uncle Woe brings you a contemplative, progressive doom album "Phantomescence" that was completely conceived and recorded in pandemic induced isolation. The opening track/lead single, "Become The Ghost" is a meandering exploration of death and dreams.

"Phantomescence" deviates from the first Uncle Woe album as the band moves forward from a solo studio project. It is an easily digestible, logical next step in the band’s evolution; elements, which made the first LP, "Our Unworn Limbs," engaging and intriguing are present again on this offering; expanded upon, polished, and moderately better produced. The new album deals with death in a much broader and less personal sense, and also contains a lot of abstract, dream sequence type elements.

Currently, as a two-piece, Rain Fice and Nicholas Wowk worked on their parts separately, shared them online and managed to pull off the second album from the band. Fice details the intricacies of the single:

"'Become The Ghost' is almost relentless in its forward, mid-tempo, stomping march. The first chorus comes as a very small, simple 3/4 breather, in the midst of the opening/verse riff’s endless churning and revolving 11/4 and 15/4 riff. The vocals throughout are rough, and finally build to a scream in that last, closing verse. After the death of someone very near to me, I remember a feeling of loss so great that it seemed that even though THEY had died, I was the one who became a ghost if that makes sense; a ghost, or shadow, or shell." Former Uriah Heep Drummer Lee Kerslake Passes Away

Legendary drummer Lee Kerslake, best known for his time with Uriah Heep and Ozzy Osbourne, has passed away at the age of 73 after a battle with prostate cancer.

Former The God's and Uriah Heep keyboardist Ken Hensley broke the news, stating: "It's with the heaviest of hearts that I share with you that Lee Kerslake, my friend of 55 years and the best drummer I ever played with, lost his battle with cancer at 03:30 this morning. He died peacefully, praise The Lord, but he will be terribly missed. I know many of you were praying for him not to suffer and I thank you for that and, now that Lee is at peace, our thoughts and prayers should turn to his wife Sue who will need all the support she can get at this time."

Kerslake began his career playing with The Gods, releasing three albums with the group before joining the iconic hard rock/heavy metal group Uriah Heep, making his recording debut with the band on the "Demons And Wizards" album. He stuck with the band until 1979, leaving after a dispute and shortly afterwards, met former Black Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne by chance in an elavator. The two would form the band Blizzard Of Ozz along with bassist Bob Daisley and guitarist Randy Rhoads, though the band would named an Ozzy Osbourne solo project by management.

The drummer returned to Uriah Heep in 1982, bringing Daisley with him and stayed with the British titans until 2007, with his last album appearance being 2005's, "Between Two Worlds." Kerslake was also involved in a number of projects, including the Berggren Kerslake Band and Living Loud, as well as a retrospective documentary, "Lee Kerslake: Not On The Heep," which has yet to be completed. Amaranthe Releases "Archangel" Music Video

All dreams are shattered, all hopes are lost - but out of the fuming ashes of apocalypse, there's a new star rising high into the blackened sky: Today, Amaranthe release "Archangel", the third single from their upcoming album "Manifest", to be out October 2nd, via Nuclear Blast.

A merciless but on point modern metal extravaganza coming with brutal riffs, a tempting chorus and hellish vibes - long story short: An infernal pleasure that makes you want to trade your soul for the fallen angel.

Amaranthe commented: "Fire and brimstone! Savour the sweet scent of sulphur as Amaranthe delves deep into Miltonian lore with 'Archangel'! An ancient tale of the fall of the angel Lucifer Morningstar was interpreted as a Greek tragedy in John Milton's seminal 'Paradise Lost', and it is from this perspective we tell a brief yet momentous story of greed, betrayal and overblown pride - an all too familiar and contemporary theme. Amaranthe's first collaboration with Poland's visual grandmasters Grupa13 took us from abandoned and ghastly factory halls in Wroclaw to the derelict ruins of Swiny Castle among the Polish mountains. Light up your incense, fill your goblet and delight in a darker shade of Amaranthe!" More...
