Brave The Cold Debuts New Music Video

Brave The Cold, led by longtime Napalm Death axeman Mitch Harris, have released their first-ever music video, the confrontational "Hallmark Of Tyranny," from their debut album "Scarcity." Joined by Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren, the track is an attack on overreaching governments - highlighting financial superpowers, forced vaccines, targeted false flag operations and frequency harnessing of the masses to achieve a one-world government.

"Although it may sound doom and gloom," says Harris, "It’s meant for a positive outcome from creative efforts inspiring change. Inspiration through art is essential in our world, with our need for social interaction, adaptation, individualism and personal transformation. If Brave The Cold doesn’t get your attention, WHAT WILL? It’s time to WAKE THE FUCK UP!"

"All I need is a rock 'n' roll band and somewhere new to play" is one line from "Rock 'n' Roll Outlaw," the first song on the album with which the Australians Rose Tattoo made their eponymous and angry debut. Skalmold Uploads New Live Video

Viking Metal giants Skálmöld will release their second live album and their first as a solo band, 10 Year Anniversary - Live In Reykjavík, on its new release date of October 16, 2020 via Napalm Records.

Today, the six-piece reveals the third video taken off the new live album:
"Árás" leads all the way back to Skálmöld's origins in January 2010, when they recorded their first demo on music cassette, which included only two songs. Ten years later, the Icelanders are on stage at the three days in a row completely sold out Gamla Bíó in their hometown of Reykjavík, celebrating their jubilee with their most dedicated fans.

Menacing vocals, fast riffs and protruding drums underline the impressive evolvement the band took since their first demo - clearly audible and viewable on their new live album, 10 Year Anniversary - Live In Reykjavík.

Skálmöld on "Árás":
"The third track we present to you from our upcoming live album is 'Árás'. This song has always been special to us. It is from our debut album and was one of the very first songs we ever wrote. It has been an integral part of our setlist throughout the years. And in a live environment is where it is at its best, with its slow build-up and big choir parts. It is safe to say that this one is very dear to us. We love it and hope you do as well.

Diamond Head Re-Records "Lightning To The Nations"

Vital, venerated, and vintage, when Diamond Head first released "Lightning To The Nations" forty years ago in 1980, few could have predicted the importance it would carry - and establish - with regards to heavy metal's new wave and sound. Stacked and packed with riffs, Lightning To The Nations would be one of the prime catalysts for a movement known as the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). It would also prove the premier template for a band who would become the biggest rock band on the planet, Metallica. But back then, in their humble Stourbridge, UK home, Diamond Head had no real idea that the seven songs they had recorded for that debut album would have such a reverberation.

The first single/video to be released, "It's Electric," shows levels of fresh energy and the potency of timeless riffage that will blow the doors and socks off all who hear it. On the song, founding member, lead guitarist/songsmith Brian Tatler, comments: "It was written on the 15th of June 1978; it was the forty-fifth song Diamond Head ever wrote. It was kind of our version of an AC/DC song. I had noticed that AC/DC had gaps in their riffs so I thought I would do one in that vein and out came 'It's Electric.' It was fast and exciting and soon found its way into our live set. We had the pleasure of opening for AC/DC in January 1980 and performed 'It's Electric' in the set. I looked over to my left and noticed we were being watched by Bon Scott!"

"It's Electric" was the first Diamond Head song that Lars Ulrich ever heard on the 1980 MCA compilation album Brute Force. "It seemed so right, it seemed so fresh, it seemed so effortless and above all, it seemed so fucking special. Three and a half minutes after the needle hit the record on 'It's Electric' by Diamond Head I was hooked."

"Metallica covered this song on their 1998 album Garage, Inc.," continues Tatler, "Sean and I wrote 'It's Electric' in the key of G but Metallica transposed it to F# to make it easier to play. I have played it their way ever since."

Cryptosis Signs With Century Media Records

Century Media Records are happy to welcome Dutch futuristic multi-metal eruption Cryptosis!
A million miles from the old school fury of their previous incarnation, Cryptosis have a sound that defies expectations and limitations with equal intensity. A dizzying blend of visceral extremity, symphonic pomp and wild, progressive invention.

Elements of blackened death, progressive thrash and grandiose symphonic metal are all present and correct, but Cryptosis have combined them in an exhilarating, unprecedented new form that promises to satisfy on both primal and cerebral levels.

Philipp Schulte, Director Century Media Records Europe comments:
"Getting completely surprised by a new band doesn’t happen very often, but Cryptosis really impressed me. What this young band manages to deliver is nothing but a mind-blowing hell ride through the realm of extreme metal. What Cryptosis do is not only for fans of Vektor, Coroner, Sadus or Demolition Hammer, but generally for everyone who is into death and thrash metal played at high speed on the highest level of aggression and technicality. The usual label hyperbole? If you think so, then check out the song. Welcome to Century Media, guys. We couldn’t be happier to have you with us!"

Today Cryptosis release the single "Decypher." Check out the video below. More...

Hjelvik Unleashes "North Tsar" Music Video

Today, new Norwegian blackened Viking heavy metal band Hjelvik have released their first ever single "North Tsar," accompanied by a video. The track is taken from their debut studio album "Welcome To Hel" that will be released on November 20th 2020 via Nuclear Blast.

Hjelvik is the new solo band of ex-Kvelertak frontman, lyricist and co-founder Erlend Hjelvik. After touring worldwide with some of the world's greatest bands such as Metallica, Slayer and Ghost, earning four Norwegian Spelleman awards along the way, Erlend parted ways with his band mates in 2018 and has spent the last two years songwriting and creating Hjelvik's first album.

Front-man Erlend Hjelvik comments: "It feels great to finally give people the first taste of what's to come with this awesome video for 'North Tsar' that the talented guys at Grupa13 created for me!"

Erlend adds: "It was a cool experience, the day corona-restrictions lifted, I took the first flight from Norway to Poland and we shot the whole video in one day in a Viking village called Jomsborg. Grupa13 did an excellent job with their team including well-trained Viking re-enactors, an amazing SFX crew and even brought in wolves and a huge raven. It was an intense and efficient shoot. It felt crazy to be standing in the middle of a Viking battle while performing my song, especially since the village was open to tourists who appeared midway through to stand there, gawk and take selfies… making the experience slightly more bizarre! Nonetheless, I had a great time and I’m extremely pleased with the result!" More...

Growth Reveals Debut Album Details

Australian metal trio Growth are to release their debut LP, "The Smothering Arms Of Mercy," on 4th December, via Australia’s progressive music specialists Wild Thing Records.

In celebration of the news, the band have streamed their first single, "Something Follows," which you can check out below.

Growth will release a trilogy of albums that explore the very human aspects of connection, trauma, despair, and the fragility of hope.

Even the strongest pillar caves. Even the iron heart shatters. Growth's debut release, "The Smothering Arms Of Mercy," is the first in their narrative trilogy that details in honesty the extremity of recovery from mental illness. Mercy delivers a ferocious depiction of suffering, designed to draw the listener in with the Barnes brothers' paralysing and traumatic vision, suffocating and vulnerable all at once.

Self-recorded, produced and engineered in Australia, with drums engineered by Troy McCosker (Ne Obliviscaris),and mixed & mastered by Fredrik Nordstrom (Opeth) in Gothenburg, Sweden, the landscape presented in "Mercy" is nightmarish-dense with jarring time signatures, grinding abrasiveness, and wistful post-metal passages, and led by the visceral howling of vocalist Luke Frizon detailing a vivid story of hope and loss drawn directly from lived experience. Legendary death metal pioneers Benediction from Birmingham, UK release their second single "Stormcrow" today. "In many cultures the crow is seen as a harbinger of doom and a bad omen - this song deals with that," Dave Ingram comments.

The video was shot on abandoned wasteland somewhere in the outskirts of Sheffield, in the North of England. Directed by Dan Hart / Light Engine Films.

As anyone who’s done one will know, it’s take after take after take, and as you can see it was a blisteringly hot day too. We did have passers by, joggers, dog walkers and they were stopping to check out what was going on and that’s the closest we’ve managed to a live gig this year!"

Unearthing the Metal Underground: Exaugurate

Buried in the belly of America’s deep South is the interesting death metal entity known as Exaugurate. The new project is comprised of members, past and present, of Hollowed Idols, Ectovoid, Ritual Decay, Cemetery Filth and Seraphic Entombment. Exaugurate is steeped in the spirit of classic death metal without being riddled by the cliches and tropes of the en vogue “old school death metal” scene. While Exaugurate summon’s the filthy spirit of genre progenitors Autopsy, whilst occasionally churning out Immolation-styled riffs and squeals, the band’s label, Rotted Life Records, rightfully likens them to dank, brooding, post-2000 death metal bands like
Dead Congregation, Grave Miasma and Cruciamentum.

Speaking of Cruciamentum, that act’s main-man, Dan Lowndes, actually provides excellent lead work on “Ascendant Beyond Carrion,” the final song of Exaugurate’s outstanding, four-song debut EP “Chasm of Rapturous Delirium.” Lowndes also mixed and mastered the release. “Chasm of Rapturous Delirium” stands out because Exaugurate clearly focuses upon substance and song-craft above all. With plans for a full-length album in the works, and the expressed desire to perform live and tour once such efforts are realistic, Exaugurate is clearly a new death metal band worth your attention.
