Hecate Enthroned Releases New Lyric Video

Days before the reissue and first-ever vinyl release of their 2013 record, "Virulent Rapture," British blackened death metal pioneers Hecate Enthroned have released a brand new video for the song "Plagued By Black Death." The lyric video, created by Raf Ortega of Ecliptic Visions, can be viewed below.

"'Plagued By Black Death' was a band favourite off the album and has become a big fan favourite too," explains bassist Dylan Hughes. "Time has shown it to be a true Hecate classic, a song that still remains in our live set. It sits so well with our earlier and latter material as it encompasses all the elements that makes a Hecate track: epic, powerful, emotive and aggressive! This video captures the essence of the song, not just the lyrical content but the ebb and flow of the music, the timing of the piece building into that final passage which is a huge desolate crescendo. Raf, as always, nails these videos as he truly understands the songs and the band and we couldn’t be happier with how this turned out. Enjoy." More...

Norwegian death metal horde Insidious Disease, featuring current/former members from Dimmu Borgir, Morgoth, Nile, Susperia and Napalm Death, has released a new trailer today revealing the concepts behind their first album in a decade, "After Death," that's due out on October 30th with Nuclear Blast. Sonically inducing a depraved and morbid condition of the mind, Insidious Disease will return in 2020 to present their second full length album. Still in the early stages of existence with only their debut album "Shadowcast" (2010) preceding, Insidious Disease are ripe with a hellish energy that seeks to sear its way across the universe of heavy metal. "It’s not supposed to be re-inventing the wheel or anything, it’s just about finding a good groove that we feel comfortable with," explains Silenoz. More...

Accuser Reveals New Album Details

On November 13, Accuser will release their new self-titled album via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of Accuser, a performance video for the first single, "Phantom Graves," can be found below.

Since they began flying the flag for German thrash in the 80s, Accuser have gone on to prove themselves one of the most enduring forces in global metal. With eleven full-lengths behind them, they return in 2020 with their latest masterwork: a blistering collection that captures everything that makes the band so vital, produced by longtime collaborator Martin Buchwalter (who has worked on five Accuser albums) and mastered by Dan Swanö.

"You stay fresh through curiosity," states vocalist/guitarist Frank Thoms. "Writing new songs keeps you fresh, and it is always exciting how things develop and how the listener reacts to them afterwards. This process never gets boring. It is always exciting and invites you to try new things."

The result is a dynamic album that is very much rooted in thrash, but still takes the listener through various moods and styles, further cementing Accuser's status as leaders, not followers. More...

Djerv Shares New Music Video

Acclaimed Norwegian dark rockers Djerv have released a video for their new single "(We Don't) Hang No More." The track follows the duo's comeback single "Throne," which marked their first new music in almost a decade. You can check out the video below.

"It's been really fun doing these tracks, just trying out something a bit different, something a bit more up-tempo and simpler. Not over-thinking it too much." states drummer Erlend Gjerde.

Frontwoman Agnete Kjølsrud says of the single's lyrical theme: "As much as it hurts, some relationships just have to end. When you find yourselves disappointed time and time again, when you expected more but finally realise that things won't change… well, it hurts. But instead of breaking down you just have to deal with it and acknowledge the truth; We don’t hang no more." More...

Insania Signs With Frontiers Srl

Sweden's Insania have announced their signing to Frontiers Music Srl. The power metal band will release their fifth studio album in 2021.

"Dear friends, we are very excited to announce that an agreement has been signed with the Italian record label Frontiers Music Srl for our new album! This cooperation enables Insania to begin production on our fifth studio album. A feeling that we can write great power metal music together again has been growing for some time now. So, when you get an opportunity to work with a well respected label like Frontiers, it would be pure madness to try and resist it. And the truth is that we’ve actually started to write songs for our sixth album as well, so thanks to Frontiers, We Will Rise Again!," says drummer and founding member Mikko Korsbäck.

The first version of Insania was formed in 1992 by drummer Mikko Korsbäck and guitar player Henrik Juhano. Bass player Tomas Stolt was added to the lineup shortly after and a few other musicians were also part of the band for short periods of time. The band started off by playing covers of their favorite bands such as Helloween and Iron Maiden, but were not producing their own music at this point. Eventually Mikko's classmate Niklas Dahlin became the band's second guitar player and they started writing their own tunes. The band then added keyboard player Patrik Västilä to pursue a more melodic style. Mikko took it upon himself to sing, even if he was playing the drums at the same time, as the band had not found a vocalist to match their ambitions.

In 1997, the band approached singer David Henriksson to join the band. The match between the band's ambitions and David’s vocals were a complete match made in heaven. The band felt complete now and sought to find a way to reach a bigger crowd. Later, the band was offered a deal with House Of Kicks (later known as MNW and then Sound Pollution) and their debut album, "World Of Ice," was released in 1999. The band would go on to release three more albums over the course of the coming years while enduring some lineup changes.

The band's current line-up consists of Mikko Korsbäck (drums), Tomas Stolt (bass), Niklas Dahlin (guitar), Ola Halén (vocals), Dimitri Keiski (keyboards, background vocals), and Peter Östros (guitar). Energized and inspired, they will release their fifth album in 2021.

Static-X Releases "Dead Souls" Music Video

Platinum selling, International recording artists Static-X have released a new music video for the song "Dead Souls," from their 7th studio album, "Project Regeneration Volume 1," out now. The video was directed by Wombatfire (Hellyeah, In Flames, Hollywood Undead, Tech 9) and the song features guest vocals from Ministry’s Al Jorgensen. You can check it out below.

"This song has become one of my favorite tracks on the record. We had no intention on doing a video for it initially, but it came out so good, we had to do it. I'm so grateful to Al Jourgensen for singing on the track with Wayne. Ministry was a big influence on us, and I know Wayne would've been just as stoked as I am to have Al sing on one of our records. I think the video fits the song really well. It's dark, creepy, with just a touch of humor." - Tony Campos More...

High As Hell To Release Debut Album In November

Melbourne bruisers High As Hell crashed onto the scene a couple of weeks back with their monstrously huge debut single, "House Of The Holy." Today, the band deliver an equally abrasive knock-out punch with the release of the music video. Watch below.

Frontman and riff lord, Dave 'Fazz' Favazza says of the clip: "Hell Awaits!!!! 2020 isn't just the year where the whole world fell to its knees and turned to complete shit, it is also the year 3 metal heads snuck into and old abandoned house of prayer to film their debut film clip for YOUR enjoyment!

"We had such a great time making this video, from thrashing it out in an old bluestone church to tying Fazz to a crucifix over a 160 year old burning baptism pit of fire. Yeah, yeah we know this concept has been done before, but it hasn't been done for a long time so hopefully some of you younger cats get a taste of what old school fat, crunchy metal is all about.

"If we weren't already goin to Hell, we certainly are now after making this video... So here it is guys and gals 'House Of The Holy'... We hope you enjoy it, we had loads of fun making it."

"House Of The Holy" is the first single from High As Hell's debut album, "Razorblade Dream." The album will be released on November 6 via Dinner For Wolves. More...

The Unguided Vocalist On New Album "Father Shadow"

It's always a risk when members leave one band to form another. Sometimes they eclipse their former outfit, sometimes it goes nowhere, but it's always interesting to see where the project goes. So it is with Falkenberg's, The Unguided, which was formed by three members of Sonic Syndicate in 2010. Ten years and five albums later, with a vast story being told both in the music and behind the scenes, no one can say that The Unguided hasn't been a success.

On October 9th, The Unguided will unleash their fifth full length album, "Father Shadow," which continues the story which began on their debut, "Hell Frost." To find out more about the concept, as well as the recording, lineup changes, the effect of the pandemic on the band and much more, I spoke with co-vocalist and founder Richard Sjunnesson. You can listen to the interview in full below. More...

Elixir Unveils New Bass Player

New Wave Of British Heavy Metal veterans Elixir has announced that they have recruited former Solsikk bass player Mark Mulcaster into the band. Elixir guitarist, Phil Denton, explains:

"Mark was on our wanted list in the summer of 2019, but unfortunately was away on holiday the weekend that we held auditions. From the batch of bass players that we did audition that weekend, we were very impressed with Luke Fabian’s energy and style, and he was subsequently chosen to record the new album with a view to joining permanently.

"However, with the album recorded, we felt that Mark deserved a chance to show what he could do, and after a very good rehearsal session, we had to make a difficult choice. Luke did a fantastic job recording the album, and his energy and style shone through on those recordings. However, when it came to playing the old material, we felt that Luke was imposing his own style on the songs just a little too much. Whilst this isn’t particularly a bad thing, we found that Mark had a sound closer to (original bass player and founding member) Kevin Dobb’s, and played the songs closer to their original versions.

"On reflection, we felt that our fans would appreciate hearing the old stage favourites in as close a form to the original recordings that they know and love as possible. It was always our intention to continue Kev’s legacy in the best way that we possibly could, and feel that Mark is the man to help us do that.

"Therefore, we took the decision to go with Mark for all future live shows and recordings.
We thank Luke for his great contribution on ‘Voyage Of The Eagle’ and wish him all the best for the future, and welcome Mark to Elixir."
