Skillet To Release New Album In January
Multi-platinum rockers, Skillet, announced today that their new studio album, "Dominion" (Atlantic), will be released on January 14, 2022. Their 11th studio project, it follows Skillet's amazing track record of two RIAA certified multi-platinum albums, two Gold Albums, five RIAA certified multi-platinum singles, and four gold singles.
Simultaneously unveiling the project's stunning cover art and tracklisting (see below), "Dominion's" first Active Rock radio single, "Surviving The Game", is available now as an instant grat with album pre-order.
The album, produced by Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Papa Roach, Disturbed) with songs written by John Cooper, Korey Cooper, Kevin Churko and Kane Churko, was created 100% remotely between the band's tour dates, home studio in Wisconsin, and the Churko's studio in Las Vegas.
"Dominion is about the celebration of freedom, a liberation from fear - to be who we want to be, say what we want to say, believe what we want to believe," Cooper says. "In some ways it’s a reminder of the God-given rights that we were born with. It’s time to regain some sort of control over our lives and not be a slave to fear. I hope this record is going to make people feel empowered, inspired, uplifted and want to rock their faces off!" More...

Thulcandra Announces First Album In Six Years
Black/death metal veterans Thulcandra are back! After six years of silence, the band’s brand new studio album, "A Dying Wish," will be released on October 29, 2021 via Napalm Records – once again carrying the burning torch of the glorious death metal era.
Since their foundation by Obscura mastermind Steffen Kummerer in 2003, Thulcandra became an indispensable protagonist in the European extreme metal-sphere that reaches way back to the magnificent origins of their genre. Thulcandra are musically and visually shaped by bands like Entombed, Sacramentum and Unanimated, but mainly influenced by genre carving act Dissection.
"A Dying Wish" was produced at Unisound Studio by Dan Swanö, keeping the black flame of Jon Nödtveidt alive and worthy. A Dying Wish transports the listener right into an icy soundscape of a never ending, severe winter. With 10 blood-freezing tracks delivering clashing guitar riffs, epic slow moments driven by atmospheric acoustic guitars and rapid outbursts of dark and raspy screams, Thulcandra creates another record that continues the great legacy of true death metal. Monster Magnet Shares New Lyric Video
Earlier this year, Napalm Records presented the next chapter in psychedelic rock icons Monster Magnet's rabbit hole deep dive, "A Better Dystopia" (out now) – a delightfully (and psychotically) curated collection of 60’s and 70’s proto-metal and late-era psych obscurities covered by the heavy New Jersey legends themselves. "A Better Dystopia" sees the band pay homage to some of their favorite songs of all time, while reflecting on the paranoia, dystopia and revolution of both now – and then.
Today, Monster Magnet releases the lyric video for their version of The Scientists' "Solid Gold Hell."
Frontman Dave Wyndorf says:
"I’m a huge fan of The Scientists and I just love the hell out of this song. It’s hypnotic, dark and sexual with a unique and amazing groove. In a cooler world we’d hear stuff like this blasting out of everyone’s speakers. I’d love to hear Billie Eilish take a crack at this one…"
Regarding the video, he continues:
"Joe Tait’s art is so damned interesting… Where else can one find Hieronymus Bosch, Pam Grier, Cold War Soviet monuments, the Dr. Strangelove war room, astronauts, dinosaurs AND rockers all in the same video?" More...
Aeon Releases "God Ends Here" Music Video
Swedish death metal veterans Aeon today unleash a new video for "God Ends Here." The track comes by way of the band‘s impending new full-length of the same name -- their first new record in nearly a decade! -- set to drop October 15, 2021 via Metal Blade Records. You can check out the clip below.
With 2012's Aeons Black standing as one of the defining death metal albums of the twenty-first century, it has been a long wait for the follow up. In 2021, Sweden's Aeon finally return with its successor, God Ends Here, and in doing so only up the ante with a record that is bigger, harder and stronger in every way. A darker, even more epic collection, it is everything an Aeon fan could want with a few surprises in store, pushing the genre in new directions, and once again asserting that they are one of the most important bands in extreme metal.
The main reason for the gap between records lies in finding the right drummer, having had a few pass through their ranks in the interim, Dark Funeral/Imperium drummer Janne Jaloma now manning the kit. Making his recording debut with the band is also bassist Tony Östman, who joined in 2013, during the touring cycle for Aeons Black. Guitarist Daniel Dlimi, who departed the Aeon fold in 2013, also returned to the band's ranks in 2019, which inspired guitarist Zeb Nilsson to write, having really missed collaborating with him. Combichrist Posts New Single Online
Combichrist are back and unveil their second new single "Compliance," which follows their single "Not My Enemy," the first new music released since their 2019 album, One Fire.
Watch the video for "Compliance" below.
Aggrotech / industrial pioneer Andy LaPlegua proves once again to be a master of electronic brutality; heavy, dark with evil hypnotic loops that drive the listener crazy. 'Compliance' sees Combichrist continue crawling on the rotten surface of mankind, digging the final hole which will swallow up the sick spirit of our civilisation. The listener is going down, slowly, with an inexorable end-of-the-world feeling. More...
Dark Tranquillity To Tour With Ensiferum
After such a long time without concerts, Sweden’s Dark Tranquillity and Finland’s Ensiferum are teaming up for a long-awaited tour with new music to be presented live to fans across Europe.
The tour kicks off April 1st in Sweden’s capital Stockholm and continues through 23 countries across Europe, ending back in Goteborg on May 27th after 53 shows. The special guests for each show will be announced shortly, so keep an eye out for these over the next few months.
Dark Tranquillity frontman Mikael Stanne about the tour: "Let's break the spell of silence and fear together this winter! We couldn't be more excited to go back on the European roads again, and to finally play in front of people, to hang out and to vent all this frustration that's been building inside for far too long. It's going to be incredible to join forces with our Finnish brothers Ensiferum for this as well. Having toured together before and crossed paths many times we look forward to screaming the night away throughout Europe this spring. Can't wait to see you all! Cheers!"
Sami Hinkka, Ensiferum, quotes: "After such a long time of darkness & uncertainty in the live music scene, we are very happy to finally reveal a light at the end of the tunnel! We’ll be joining forces with the legendary Dark Tranquillity for a massive co-headlining tour around Europe. It’s no secret that back in the day, Dark Tranquillity was one of the bands that inspired Markus Toivonen to start Ensiferum and now we are hitting the road with our heroes. How awesome is that?! We are sure that everyone is craving some energetic and ass-kicking live music experiences (we sure are!) and with this line-up, this tour is not to be missed. Get your ticket in advance & help support the return of live music! We can’t wait to see you in the front row!"

Cynic To Release New Album In November
Progressive metal legends Cynic will be releasing its highly-anticipated new full-length, "Ascension Codes," on November 26 via Season of Mist! Cynic's "Ascension Codes" is a remarkably far-reaching work, and if nothing else, a clear indication that they have landed in a place of mastery. The album, paradoxically, acts as both swan song and rebirth. The band is now sharing the mind-bending first single, "Mythical Serpents," which can be heard below!
Track six, "Mythical Serpents," is imbued with propellant adventure, exciting peaks and valleys that tug at the heart while its mathematical sequences challenge the head in a dizzying push/pull dynamic. It’s that quintessential Cynic approach of kaleidoscopic intensity and mannered discipline. "Ascension Codes" was mixed and co-produced by Warren Riker, who worked with Aeon Spoke, Cynic in the Traced in Air era and mixed Paul Masvidal’s solo acoustic trilogy.
Cynic mastermind Paul Masivdal comments: "I invite you to sit back, close your eyes, and listen to 'Mythical Serpents' as a fully realized piece of music. No phones or screens necessary, just the power of sound communicating directly into the ears of your heart. In the coming weeks, Cynic will be revealing further details on the constellation that is 'Ascension Codes', including a 'Mythical Serpents' animated video, featuring the artwork of Martina Hoffmann & Robert Venosa. Stay tuned."
Michael Berberian, president and founder of Season of Mist, adds: "I have, by now, released close to one thousand albums. None have been more dramatic, none have even been more difficult than this one. I can’t listen to Ascension Codes without goosebumps, a mixed feeling of pride – because it’s a musical milestone, but it also contains a lingering layer of sadness. I hear Paul’s pain on this record. I can feel it, I can touch it. But it’s transcended. 'Art is to console those who are broken by life,' said Van Gogh. Here is a demonstration of that." More...
Unleashed Reveals New Album Details
Three years after the release of "The Hunt for White Christ" (2018), iconic Swedish death metal legends Unleashed return with their new studio album, "No Sign Of Life," out November 12, 2021 via Napalm Records – once again setting the ultimate standard of death metal!
The Swedish crew is led by founding frontman Johnny Hedlund, and features drummer Anders Schultz and two guitarists Tomas Måsgard and Fredrik Folkare – delivering and defining supreme death metal for over 32 years. On No Sign of Life, the band formed of Viking descendants transports the listener straight into an outraging battle with 11 forceful tracks that revive the essentials of death metal, facing the sheer brutality of war. UNLEASHED are back to defend their throne, forging another uncompromising musical weapon that continues the marvelous legacy of Vikings.
To satisfy the bloodthirst, Unleashed just released their staggering brand new track from "No Sign Of Life," entitled "The King Lost His Crown," alongside a sharp lyric music video. The track dives right in without mercy, dominated by destructive guitars, blasting drums and the well-known chunky and brutal screams of genre-carving vocalist Johnny Hedlund.
Johnny on the first single:
"In the aftermath of the battle of Jorsala, where the Midgard Warriors stood victorious, White Christ is now being hunted from the once so holy city. The enemy flees towards the desert, and his armies are about to lose faith in their leader. It seems that the king lost his crown." More...

Endure The Affliction Debut "The Reckoning"
Endure The Affliction is rounding off 2021 with a brand new EP, Evolve, on October 15th. Endure The Affliction embody the hallmarks of melodic metal while embracing their Louisiana roots.
Formed in late 2018, members Tim Keith (Lead Vocals), Deion Lanthier (Co-Lead Vocals/Guitar), Brett Dronet (Guitar), Byron Vollmer (Backup Vocals/Bass), Kyle Roberts (Drums) exploded onto their local Louisiana scene with the powerful, yet subtly emotional riffs and soaring vocals that define their sound. Overcoming hardship being their music's driving message, listeners find themselves relating to these musicians on a range of sensitive, but very real topics that many people struggle with daily.
The band had the following to say about "The Reckoning."
"This song deals with still loving someone that no longer loves you back. Sometimes we don't realize the consequences of our actions when we are in a relationship. It's easy to do damage to a relationship until it's beyond repair. So then the day comes when you realize it's over, and now you have to deal with that reckoning."
