Armored Saint Launches New Live Video
On October 22nd, Armored Saint will release a new CD/DVD, "Symbol of Salvation Live," via Metal Blade Records, to celebrate the seminal album's 30th anniversary. For a preview of Symbol of Salvation Live, a live video for "The Truth Always Hurts" can be seen below.
There are many ways to celebrate the anniversary of an important release in a band's career, and for Symbol Of Salvation's thirtieth birthday - an album vocalist John Bush refers to as Armored Saint's "cornerstone record" - comes Symbol Of Salvation Live. A combination live album and video of the band playing the album in its entirety at New York's famed Gramercy Theatre during their 2018 tour, it captures the power, diversity and peerless songwriting contained within it. "I felt like showing 'Symbol' in another light was a great homage to the record itself," states bassist Joey Vera. "Also, having all the fans be there and part of that event is a way for us to say 'Thank you!' For, without them, we can't do any of this in the first place." More...
1914 Shares "Pillars Of Fire" Music Video
Ukrainian WWI experts 1914 continue to reflect the gruesome tales of World War I, its soldiers’ fate, their death, fear and feats to be never forgotten on their sinister new epos, "Where Fear And Weapons Meet," out October 22, 2021 via Napalm Records.
After revealing their massive first outburst, "...And a Cross Now Marks His Place," featuring none other than Paradise Lost icon Nick Holmes, the blackened death/doom metal frontrunners now reveal another scorching new track, entitled "Pillars of Fire (The Battle of Messines)." The second single depicts The Battle of Messines in 1917 and starts off with an atmospheric introduction, drawing the listener deep into the album’s theme. Just within the blink of an eye, it erupts into a massive blackened death/doom outburst – freezing the blood in every vein.
Hptm. Ditmar Kumarberg comments:
"This song describes the terrible events of the Battle of the Messines Ridge that occurred from June 7-14, 1917 in Belgium, one of the most insane episodes of the Great War.
"Subjects of the British crown and ANZAC dug a huge tunnels under the German positions, packed them with hundreds of tons of explosives and blew them up. In one second, in just one moment, about 10,000 people died. They were simply torn to pieces. The human brain is always subject to non-trivial approaches to kill each other. The title of the track is a direct reference to the wonderful book by Jan Passingham - 'Pillars of Fire: The Battle of the Messines Ridge', also the movie 'Beneath Hill 60', and memories of the participants of this event. Some eyewitnesses described the scene as "pillars of fire", although many also acknowledged this was indescribable." More...
Omnium Gatherum Releases New Music Video
Today Finnish melodic death metal force Omnium Gatherum present their new single and video "Reckoning" taken off their upcoming album "Origin," which will be released worldwide on November 5th, 2021 via Century Media Records.
Like the previously released single "Paragon" the video for "Reckoning" was also directed and produced by Owe Lingwall, Dreamday Media.
The song will be available on all digital platforms as of now.
Watch the video for "Reckoning" below.
"‘Reckoning’ is a certain powersong or an uplifting song which we needed to rise from the depths of a past year, and it was the last song we wrote for the new album. Adult oriented death metal at its finest glory, that dark and shiny place where Def Leppard and death metal meets. Death Leppard, maybe? The music video saved a warm memory from a very hot summer day in my hometown of Kotka, where we played at the rocks of the beautiful island of Rankki. Lying on the rocks zipping cold beer and driving with the boats at the sea. Kotka isn’t that far from Miami, except geographically, haha." Markus Vanhala states.
Jukka Pelkonen comments:
"This song is clearly and absolutely about a situation where someone is really trying to mess things up and goes about doing it in secrecy. ‘A Story’ about an individual who is so messed up that he/she turns against the people who really matter. This is a certain way to ruin, yet the one doing so denies all responsibility ‘avoiding only the truth’…" More...
Mass Worship To Release New Album In February 2022
Despite spending a big part of 2020-2021 locked inside, writing and recording new material, Stockholm based Mass Worship did complete a highly successful tour in support of Polish death metal legends Vader. Meanwhile, Mass Worship are primed and ready to unleash their second full-length assault. Due for release on February 4th, 2022, "Portal Tombs" is a terrifying but electrifying exploration of the gloomy depths of human nature: a monolithic manifestation of the musical force that is Mass Worship. Drawing inspiration from bands such as At The Gates, Mastodon and Meshuggah, Mass Worship could be likened to many bands, but somehow forge their musical identity into something exceptionally distinctive and transcendent, and with enough confidence and conviction to win over even the most orthodox fans of the genre.
Enter the "Portal Tombs" and check out the first track and video below.
The video was directed and produced by Miles Skarin of Crystal Spotlight and Mass Worship while the song features guest vocals from Mark "Barney" Greenway (Napalm Death). The band comments:
"We as humans are approaching a state where we don’t believe in anything, and we can’t seem to envision any alternatives. Our elected leaders are merely there to sustain a seemingly perpetual status quo, and to grab whatever opportunity they can to shift our focus away from what’s important. What happens behind the scenes is a slow and steady collapse of our financial, political, ecological, spiritual and cultural world. We’re all perfectly aware of where we are heading, but we can’t seem to envision any alternative -- it’s far too late, and far too terrifying to try to stop what has been started. ‘Portal Tombs’ symbolises that Death is the only true way forward. Mass Worship is an attempt at putting the current state of humanity’s affairs and suppressed emotional state into music and words. We want to capture the fears, the pain, the uncertainty and the total disbelief in the future of mankind. As we spiral towards an abyss of our own making, Mass Worship is the soundtrack that will resonate loudest of all." More...

Obscura Posts New Music Video Online
The virtuosos of Obscura strike again with a third single, taken from the upcoming album "A Valediction," which is set to be released on November 19th through Nuclear Blast Records.
This time they reveal the probably most brutal and darkest track from the album - "Devoured Usurper."
Band leader Steffen Kummerer comments: "Merciless, moldered and putrid alike – 'Devoured Usurper' showcases a crude abrasive side to shake some bodies at live shows in the near future. With utterly brutality the song depaints an inevitable reckoning and underlines the death metal roots of Obscura."
And once again the band worked with Mirko Witzki on the video, who also produced "Solaris," "A Valediction" and previous videos for Obscura.
Steffen reveals: "We recorded the music video at famous Stress Studio in Graz, Austria, where also drums for the new album have been tracked. We preprare our live shows and assemble parts of our production in this unique environment before we embark on upcoming tours." More...

Rage Frontman Talks New Album "Resurrection Day"
Album titles are a funny thing. Sometimes they sum up the music within perfectly, sometimes they just sound cool and sometimes they're a fitting metaphor for where the band are in their career at the time. This is particularly appropriate for Rage, whose new album, "Resurrection Day," sees something of a rejuvination for the German veterans, following a mixed reaction to their recent output and a change in lineup. The album is comprised of the high energy metal which earned the band a loyal following and may well be their best album for decades, displaying traces of power, speed and at one point, even folk metal, painting a varied picture of what makes the genre so intriguing.
To find out more about this amazing album, the changes Rage have gone through over the past year and more, I caught up with vocalist Peter "Peavy" Wagner, the sole original member and driving force behind the group. You can watch the interview in full below. More...
