Thomas Giles Posts Studio Video
Thomas Giles, the solo project from Between the Buried and Me front man Tommy Rogers, has released the first studio video from the recording sessions for new album "Modern Noise."
The video highlights drummer Will Goodyear and his approach to the album, working with Tommy Rogers and Jamie King, and more. "Modern Noise" is scheduled for release worldwide on Metal Blade Records this coming November 25th.
What is "Modern Noise?" The title is merely a statement that reflects what the band is creating. Tommy Roger explains the title and music:
"This record was an outcome of me creating songs while not wanting to over evaluate the music. I wanted to record things that naturally came to me and because of this, the record feels like an accurate extension of myself. I took a more rock approach and really focused on writing simple yet dynamic songs. Lyrically, I feel it's a great mix of storytelling and personal experience. "Modern Noise" is basically just saying this is my current noise on the earth. We all are here for a short amount of time and the noise we make is our memory."

Atreyu Signs New Record Deal
After emerging from hiatus earlier this year, Atreyu played a sold-out-in-minutes warm-up show in its native Orange County, was a featured main stage attraction at both Aftershock and Knotfest, and released a new song titled "So Others May Live."
Now, the band has confirmed even more good news -- its worldwide signing to the Search and Destroy Records imprint as part of the newly-announced joint venture between the label and Raw Power Management and Spinefarm Records. Atreyu's new album, due out in 2015, will be released through Search and Destroy/Spinefarm.
"We're truly excited for this union," said Atreyu drummer Brandon Saller. "Signing with Spinefarm/Search & Destroy will truly allow us to create without restraint. We are looking forward to the future."
Raw Power's Vice President Matt Ash concurred, saying, "Raw Power is proud to be representing Atreyu for management worldwide and we're very excited to move forward with the guys in this fresh chapter of their career."
"We are beyond excited to welcome Atreyu to the Spinefarm Records roster," said Spinefarm Director of A&R Darren Dalessio. "As one of the pioneering artists of the metalcore movement, it's very exciting to see this new album take shape. The new music they are crafting is nothing short of incredible, and there is a real passion and fire within the band right now that is undeniable. We couldn't be happier to be a part of this next chapter of Atreyu's already impressive storied career. Expect great things to come in 2015!"

Eyehategod's Mike IX Discusses Self-Titled Album
In May, the sludge lords from Eyehategod released their first full-length in fourteen years. This period wasn’t void of activity. The band released short-play recordings such as a split with Soilent Green, “99 Miles of Bad Road” EP and “New Orleans Is the New Vietnam.” But the band hadn’t released a full-length recording since “Confederacy of Ruined Lives” dropped in 2000.
14 years is a long build towards a record and they needed to make something good. Their self-titled recording proved well worth the wait. The group couldn’t have picked a better title for the record. It is the ultimate EHG recording.
It contains what one expects from EHG—heaping loads of feedback, groove and punk-addled speed. It’s a faster, more aggressive beast. It’s also the final EHG recording featuring drummer Joey LaCaze who passed away in 2013. Possibly their fastest record, it was the perfect medium for LaCaze to showcase his skills—skills that showed him at the top of his game.
Front man Mike IX Williams was in Austin, Texas to play two shows at the Housecore Horror Film Fest. Early Sunday, he played with his industrial band Corrections House and then with Eyehategod later in the evening. We found Williams in the press room with his podcast cohort Perry P. The two had completed another podcast for the Thee Garbage Men show on Core of Destruction Radio. In the following interview, Williams discusses his involvement in various bands including spinning albums on Core of Destruction Radio. He tells us about EGH’s cryptic messages, playing with new drummer Aaron Hill and being interviewed for the NOLA series on Noisey/Vice. More...
Downfall Of Gaia Posts Entire New Album Online
Only a few more days until the official release of Downfall Of Gaia's new album "Aeon Unveils The Thrones Of Decay" (November 10th Europe, November 11th North America) but today you can hear the album in full!
Listen to all the tracks below, or pre-order your own copy through Metal Blade here. Downfall Of Gaia also comments:
"Excited to share our new piece of music finally with the audience! 2014 was a rather quiet year for us. Due to the fact that all of us are spread over two continents we needed some time off the road to focus on our new record.
"Fortunately the wait is over and we can't wait to play this one live! 'Aeon Unveils The Thrones Of Decay' is a concept album about time and all of its relentless sides and deals with the darker sides of life, the struggles everyone has to fight on a day to day base and the fact that time in its majesty is an unbeatable enemy." Arbitrator Posts Drum Playthrough
Toontrack.com has released a drum playthrough video featuring drummer Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork, ex-Devin Townsend Project, ex-Aborted) performing "For That Which May Appease Lions" from his new project Arbitrator.
Arbitrator front man Robert Kukla comments: "Massive thanks go out to the phenomenal Dirk Verbeuren and Toontrack team for putting together this video. As expected, you’ll find nothing but the greatest of top-tier drum performance and sample replacement from these beasts on an absolutely mind blowing piece of blasphemous death metal. What’s more, the samples have been engineered by none other than Colin Richardson. I need not say another word."
Arbitrator is a project that began in late 2010 as the brainchild of Robert Kukla and officially debuted in 2011 with "The Consummate Ascendancy," which featured former drummer Corey Chernesky.
Now, determined to release a full-length to top "TCA," Arbitrator has begun writing the band’s first album with a whole new arsenal of musicians that includes Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork, ex-Devin Townsend Project, ex-Aborted) on drums, Myles Malloy on lead guitar and Connor ORT Linning for programming.
The planned 2015 release will be entitled "Indoctrination of Sacrilege" and will be produced by Sacha Laskow (ex-Divinity, Every Hour Kills), mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy) and featuring album artwork done by Colin Marks (Exodus, Scar Symmetry, Jeff Loomis). Chron Goblin To Record New Album
The Calgary, Alberta-based heavy psych rockers from Chron Goblin are set to make the snowy trek down to Portland, Oregon this February to record a third full-length album with producer/engineer Adam Pike at Toadhouse Recording Studios.
Pike, who met the Chron Goblin fellas when they played to a sold-out crowd at Portland's Stumpfest in 2014, has a mile-thick resume of that includes Red Fang's self-titled debut and albums by Rabbits, Norska, Black Elk, Black Pussy, Diesto, and countless other heavy masterpieces.
Adam Pike comments: "It pleases me to get good word on the return of the rockers of riffs, the smokers of beer, the fondlers of fun, the Calgarians... Chron Goblin. Blood and wine are going to flow on this record. Definitely looking forward to capturing it."
Chron Goblin guitarist Devin "Darty" Purdy comments: “We are thrilled to announce that we have the honour of recording our new album with the very reputable Adam Pike at Toadhouse Studio this February. Adam is a very talented individual who we feel can capture the essence and live energy of Chron Goblin. We fell in love with Portland during our US tour last Spring and couldn’t be more stoked to make our next album there!”
The new album, which will be a follow-up to 2013's "Life for the Living," is set to be released late Spring 2015. Keep an eye out for more details as the new year unfolds. More...
The House Of Capricorn Releases New Video
Today the apocalyptic devil rock troupe The House of Capricorn premieres a haunting new video for "The Only Star in the Sky," available below courtesy of Invisible Oranges.
The track hails from the New Zealand band's third full-length, "Morning Star Rise," set for international release on November 9th via Svart Records (read our review here). Svart also comments:
"Within its nine tracks of doomed rock 'n' roll, the album encapsulates the last three years of The House of Capricorn’s infernal service. Manifested at the bottom of the world, Morning Star Rise is an unholy, antipodean hymn to a looming end, all in the blinding light of the Devil. Drawing from the rowdy darkness of Babylon Whores, the gloom of Type O Negative, and all kinds of scathing black metal, the record is a culmination of rich influences and pitch-black aesthetics, all presented in lurching rock 'n' roll form with honest, Hellish intent."
The album's track listing is:
1. The Road to Hell is Marked
2. In The Light of Lucifer
3. Our Shrouded King
4. Ashlands
5. The Only Star in the Sky

Kolony Giving Away Track For Free Download
After offering the "Echoes" track for download, Kolony is now giving away the song "Sledge That Shit."
Best described as crafting melodic rock metal, Montreal's Kolony believes in doing things a little differently. Boldly combining elements of old school metal, NWOBHM, modern metal, and rock, the band loves fast tempos, melodic vocals, and high-octane music with each track coming from the heart and reflecting the way its members think about the world.
Setting out to write a full-length debut album at the start of 2013, Kolony has arrived at its latest record, "Sledge," an 11 track power adventure produced by Jef Fortin due out on November 14th, 2014.

Corrosion Of Conformity To Play Full "Blind" Album
Vocalist Karl Agell, who sang on Corrosion Of Conformity's 1991 seminal "Blind" full-length, and founding drummer Reed Mullin will perform the LP in its entirety on Sunday, November 9th at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The concert is a benefit show for Katherine Ludwig, former editor of long-running heavy metal magazine, Metal Maniacs, who is currently battling non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Footage of the band rehearsing for the upcoming performance can be viewed below.
Comments Mullin, "I only heard about Katherine's medical problems a month ago, and the minute after, I was on the phone with Karl Agell to see if he'd be into doing a benefit for her. I'm not sure folks today know just how instrumental she was in introducing and exposing your typical 'metal maniac' of the early '90s to so many bad ass bands. A lot of which, like COC, had never been given an audience like that before.
"We had been in fanzines with circulations of maybe a couple hundred, but Metal Maniacs was thousands and thousands! A great advocate for little known underground metal, as well as hardcore/punk bands, she promoted the Blind album to the point where by the end of the year it was on virtually everyone's top ten metal albums of 1991. I can't overstate how important she was to COC's success. Without her, Blind wouldn't have sold what it did. And after that, I don't think it's a stretch to say there probably would never have been a Deliverance album. Katherine Ludwig is wonderful person and I hope we can give back a little for all the goodness she gave us."
A Facebook page has been launched by Alicia Morgan, who worked as Ludwig's assistant and was editor for several issues of the magazine. Writes Morgan: More...

Riwen Streaming New EP
Simple, raw, fast and unapologetic, Riwen is a Swedish DIY hardcore project spawned by Cult Of Luna guitarist/vocalist Johannes Persson. Joined by members of Totalt Jävla Mörker and Sonic Ritual, the band spews forth crusty, punk-infused hardcore bedlam. Elaborates Persson:
"It's a short and simple story: I got fed up with the big productions and long sound checks that comes with Cult Of Luna. So, it's back to the roots of my salad days in Umeå. It's time to make it simple, raw and fast. This is hardcore. I decided to write fourteen songs in fourteen days inspired by the bands I worshiped as vegan straight edge punk kid: Judge, Battery, Integrity, ACME and Damnation AD.
"The Riwen concept is to not spend months in the studio and nitpick over every drumbeat and production details. The musical destruction has to be alive and direct, tailor-made to induce mosh mayhem and walls of death. I hooked up with [vocalist] Fredrik [Lindkvist] and [drummer] Christian [Augustin], both with a past in the crust/grind terror force Totalt Jävla Mörker. One rehearsal sealed the deal and we recorded three tracks in one night about to be released as a ten-inch vinyl on the Norwegian metal label Indie Recordings. Adding guitar player Marita [Jonsson Mätlik] and bass player Christoffer 138 [Röstlund Jonsson; DS-13, AC4, Epileptic Terror Attack, Sonic Ritual etc.] the lineup was complete. And thus, we are ready to slam dance all over the world. Are you ready? Tonight we ride!"

1. Nature Calls Us Back
2. Values

Enslaved Issues Third Studio Report
Checking in from Duper Studios in Bergen, Enslaved's Ivar Bjørnson offers up the third installment in the seven-part "Diary of Mad Men" series shedding insight into the band’s upcoming as-yet-untitled thirteenth studio album, set for an early 2015 release. Ivar comments:
"This will be a killer album. I am already willing to stake a lot on that. As the last time with 'RIITIIR,' the first line of defense / attack is made through me, Grutle [Kjellson, vocalist & bassist] and Cato [Bekkevold, drummer] recording our guitar, bass, and drums live in the big Duper room, complete with the ceiling covered in old wooden doors for max room effect.
"I have to admit I’m starting to feel the effect of working around the clock (there are also things to be done at the home studio, office, and around the house in-between the sessions), but it doesn’t matter how tired the body gets as long as the mind is on fire!”
About this upcoming new release, band members have previously stated: “The high level of energy in the songs reflects both an inspired and an ever-harder working band that keeps pushing their own and their associated genres’ limits.”
This new album will follow the "RIITIIR" album from 2012 (reviewed here). Main recordings for the as-yet-untitled release are taking place at Duper and Solslottet Studios in Bergen, Norway with additional recordings done at Conclave & Earshot Studios (presided over by Enslaved members Larsen and Ice Dale), and Ivar Bjørnson’s Peersonal Sound Studios.

"The new album contains 11 tracks and was produced by Michael Hansen at Phon Studio and mixed/mastered by Jacob Hansen (Primal Fear, Volbeat, Anubis Gate, Pretty Maids) at Hansen Studios."

Tera Wray Comments On Wayne Static's Death
Three days ago Wayne Static's publicist issued a brief statement indicating Static's cause of death was not drug related. The following is an additional response from Tera Wray Static to friends and fans:
"Today is my husband’s birthday and instead of celebrating his 49th year of life, we are grieving his short 48 years. It has come to my attention that many have questions and opinions about the cause of the death of my husband in which I now find is necessary to further respond.
"Wayne was not taking drugs, if anything he was a drinker, and did not OD. The autopsy will be done by this weekend at the soonest, however for some of the test results it will take up to 6 months to get the actual death certificate finalized. I hope that the results I am given will have some insight, but they told me what I will receive this weekend will be deemed incomplete until all tests are back.
"We can all have opinions as to why – We all know that both Wayne and I had abused narcotics with alcohol in the past, which I am sure took a toll on his body, heart and soul. We were packing to travel on tour and were to leave that night, but it was Halloween and we decided to leave in the morning with our animals. I wish we had traveled that night then maybe had he fallen ill we could have gotten to the hospital. I will never know.
"I find it disrespectful to our families and myself for negative spins that are being posted. For Wayne’s music peers to take it upon themselves to make comment about us, when they are not part of our daily lives or know us outside of tour and music, just to grab a headline to get themselves at the top of the gossip page is disgusting. This is not about you or what you feel is your expert opinion on people you have no relationship with, so shame on you – Do not act like we liked your band either. Wayne was a good soul and he is gone – That is what we do know. Please show some respect to him and his memory - We thank all that have left kind and positive messages in support of this terrible time - I am sure Wayne misses you too."

United Progressive Fraternity Posts Lyric Video
Australian progressive act United Progressive Fraternity, formed from the ashes of respected rock act Unitopia, issued a lyric video for the new track "Intersection." The song appears on the upcoming debut album "Fall in Love With the World," which is set to drop on November 24th through InsideOut Music.
Band leader Mark Trueack had this to say about the track: "It was back in late 2013 when Sean and I were working on the concept for 'Turn Left' which was to be the next album for Unitopia, and where this track was born. The original idea was tell the story of direction and understanding the decisions that we must take in a world that is confused, always asking ourselves if we are on the right path. As always in life there is something standing in the way and from that we must learn to overcome the problems we face. The original arrangement had a heavy ELP/Moraz-type piano but I felt it was too cliché and not original to the sound that we were looking for. Matt and Marek soon came up with a brilliant duet for this section which enhanced the piece and gave it its own originality. 'Intersection' is a musical journey of hope and vision."
The full track-listing can be found below:
1. We Only Get One World (Overture)
2. Choices
3. Intersection
4. The Water
5. Don't Look Back - Turn Left

Destiny Announces New Single, Music Video
Swedish metal act Destiny announced the split with keyboardist Carl Dahlberg, who was unable to commit the time the band required. No replacement has been announced as the band mulls over whether to continue as a four piece.
The announcement reads: "After two years in the band keyboardist Carl Dahlberg leaves the Destiny. Carl was unable to commit the necessary time Destiny needed, so he and the band decided to part amicably. Destiny would like to take this opportunity to thank Carl for his input and help during his time in the band as well as wishing him all the best with his future musical projects.
"We have not yet decided if we will go on as a four piece or if we should look for a new keyboard player or guitarist. The ideal would probably be to find someone that can handle both keyboards and guitar, says the bands founder and bassist Stefan Björnshög.
"Anyone interested in the position can contact the band through the official Destiny Homepage at this location."
In addition, the band announced the impending release of the first studio material in nine years - beginning with the first single "Living Dead." A music video was just filmed by Greenworks Television for the track, which is expected by the end of the year. The single will mark the debut of vocalist Jonas Heidgert (DragonLand) and former Nostradameus guitarist Michael Åberg.
"Living Dead" will appear on the long awaited return album "The Incompatibility of Philosophical Terminology," which was originally planned for the 30th anniversary in 2012. The album is now set for release in 2015 as a "33rd anniversary" release and will be given a new title with new cover artwork. The original cover -created by Mats Gustafson - will be used for the digital single of "Living Dead."
More information on the single, video and new album are expected soon. The latest lineup of Destiny is:

Conquer Divide Posts New Single "At War"
"At War" is taken from the all-female metal act's debut album, which is set to drop in 2015 via Artery Recordings.
States drummer Tamara: "We are all girls, and you cant hide that, but we want people to focus more on the quality of the music."
"It wasn't an easy thing finding girls who not only were passionate about this type of music, but could play it well." So after years of looking in the States, they were forced to look all over the world, auditioning over 200 girls. They are subsequently based in two countries, the United States and England, but this hasn't slowed them down any.
Vocalist Suzie: "We were especially lucky to find our guitarist Izzy, who shares the same vision we do. We found out quickly how much of a rarity dedicated and talented female guitar players are." The band concluded that they couldn't let distance be a factor when putting the lineup together.
"When I was contacted by the girls I instantly knew it was perfect for me, not everyone gets the chance to work with such like-minded musicians," Izzy adds.
Conquer Divide's debut album is being helmed by producer Joey Sturgis, well known for working together with acts like Asking Alexandria, Of Mice & Men, Blessthefall. The lyric video for the song "At War" can be streamed below.
9Electric Posts New Track Featuring Wayne Static
In the aftermath of Wayne Static's passing, 9Electric has uploaded a new mix of the song “Destroy As You Go.”
Says the band: “Today would have been Wayne Static’s 49th birthday. For all the fans of Wayne Static who are mourning his untimely passing as we are, we offer the gift of the song “Destroy As You Go,” on YouTube.
“We recorded the song in late 2010, before we had played our first show in 2011. Wayne was gracious enough to lend his voice to the track and he and his wife Tera even had a bit of a laugh at how reminiscent the song was to Static-X’s sound. It was such a fun day in the studio recording the song as the video below illustrates. In 2012, Wayne took us out on the road and even jumped on stage a few times to rock ‘DESTROY’ with us! Wayne believed in 9E from the very start and we will always be incredibly grateful for the opportunities that he gave our band.
“Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers, as they are suffering during this time of mourning. We need to come together as a family to say happy birthday, thank you and goodbye to an icon and a kind man that we were lucky enough to call a friend.”
