Into the cults! Svart Records branches out into book publishing with "Isten Fanzine: Don’t Break the Ghost." Svart comments:
"The monumental anthology of this heavy metal fanzine was too good to pass up. The hardcover book is published at long last on December 12, 2014. It’s a definitive marker on a trail of heavy metal fanaticism that began 30 years ago in Tampere, Finland.
"Written by Mattila, longtime Isten co-author Janne Sarna, and American devotee Professor Black, Don’t Break the Ghost is an unreasonable beast. This mammoth of over 800 pages is an exhaustive compilation of things published (and unpublished) under the Isten banner from 1984 onwards. It’s also a story of mad devotion to heavy metal witchery and the lost alchemy of the fanzine: it’s all about the ritual, the sacrifice, the demons. This is a life’s work, presented with all of the evidence."
Says Isten creator, editor, and publisher Mikko Mattila, "Isten has always been characterized by murkiness and a lingering quality. Indeed, it took us nearly five years to do this anthology. It truly is a treasure chest, a time machine, and an open grave.” More...
Blood Harvest Records today announces December 5th as the international release date for the "Awaiting Rebirth" 10" EP from Bones. The label also comments:
"Bones started in Belgium in 2011 with Stef Aertsen, Jeroen De Pauw, and Viktor Walschaerts jamming primitive riffs influenced by old-school death metal acts. After adding Lukas Huybrechts on four-string mayhem, they were prepared. In the autumn of 2012, Bones released a demo tape with focus on quality and passion, recorded live and played with conviction. The first and second batch of demos were quickly sold out, and so a re-release of the tape was done by Morbid Basterd Records and later by Weed Hunter Records. Both these tape re-releases sold out, as well, so finally, Byllepest Distro pressed the demo on 10" wax.
"After releasing the demo, Bones immediately began working on new material, with an increased emphasis on songwriting and atmosphere, resulting in the Awaiting Rebirth 10" EP. A hideous, harrowing thrust of death-drenched decibels, Awaiting Rebirth winds 'n' wends through various corridors of madness, always with an eye on twisting-the-knife songwriting and dangerous, near-combustible execution. Red-eyed and rabid, Bones render this three-song EP a study in classic Metal of Death values, and yet not once falling back on retrogressive cliches. Once again recorded live in the studio, Awaiting Rebirth bursts forth with an organic and authentic sound, every nuance and gnarled note able to be heard in deathly clarity.
"Bones have been very active live in the past year and a half, in both Belgium and abroad, and have performed with Obituary, Nocturnus AD, Morbus Chron, Necrowretch, Master, Sonne Adam, Anatomia, and Undergang, among others. And now, with Awaiting Rebirth, the band are poised 'n' primed to take the death metal scene by force."

1. Awaiting Rebirth
2. Blight Upon Sodom
3. Adulation of the Spheres More...

After a brief announcement from the band the other day, Shadow Kingdom Records has now issued the following official statement about inking a deal with Venomous Maximus:
"We have been waiting so long to tell you this great news and now is finally the time to reveal what's been happening in the SKR camp...
"Shadow Kingdom Records is extremely proud and honored to announce the signing of Houston, Texas’ Venomous Maximus!
"The name of the band reminds us of the classic Gladiator film where Russell Crowe (aka 'Maximus') was nothing short of a complete madman who would die for his family and country without fear or worry of what might happen to him in the process. Venomous Maximus is very much like that in their attitude and approach to playing music with conviction and without any genre barriers. In Venomous Maximus, we have a band that is interested in writing GREAT, memorable songs that vary in length, tempo, and emotion.
"Those whom are familiar with Venomous Maximus’ 2012 Napalm Records release, 'Beg Upon the Light,' know what kind of a treat you’re in for. The band’s upcoming new album 'Firewalker' is a great continuation of their talents. It’s really rare to find bands that have no barriers and just focus on quality songs. More...

Sweden's Deathember has checked in with the following announcement about lineup changes and working on new material:
"Today we start a new chapter! The Deathember going into 2015 will in many ways be a new band, with the same name. A few things have led us to this:
"Our long-time guitarist Rikard Bonander recently left the band, due to personal reasons. There is absolutely no bad blood between us, we’ve had some awesome times together. We, sincerely, wish him all the best in the future!
"Instead, joining us as a full-time session guitarist, is Jerker Österlind! Some of you will recognize him, and all of you will soon know him, by his beard (as you can see from this photo). He’ll be playing on all forthcoming shows, and collaborate with us. We couldn’t be more happy with this, he’s a fantastic guitarist and an even better guy.
"We have some very interesting new sounds in the making, but it’ll be a while before we can show it to you. What we WILL do though, is update you on exactly what we’re doing from now on. We firmly believe, that the only way to break through the news feed frenzy of today, is to give you something genuine, something you actually want to follow. If you care at all about us and our music, we’ll make sure to reward YOU for that." More...
