Coming together from three corners of the globe, Ascending Dawn arrives with a melodic prog-metal design, fronted by Greek/Cypriot singer Marlain Angelides.
The band's new album "Coalesce" is out now and can be heard below, or downloaded digitally at Bandcamp here. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"The collaboration between Marlain, Mark Weatherley (drums/guitars), Owen Rees (guitars) and Constanze Hart (bass) began in London in 2013. Marlain’s background in rock and pop yielded surprising results when demoing material over the heavily prog-based music. The combination of pop sensibilities and metal riffs create a sound that is anthemic and hard-hitting, and totally unforgettable." More...
Italy's symphonic death metal horde Fleshgod Apocalypse just announced the band will be filming a new promotional video for a track off "Labyrinth." The band comments:
"2014 has been an incredible year for us. We played more than a hundred shows promoting Labyrinth all over the world and had the chance to see amazing things, but more than anything, we've been showed an amazing support by all the fans we had the honour to meet in so many different countries!
"That's why we decided to do something special to thank you all for making this possible: we recently came across some outstanding locations that deeply inspired us and we decided to shoot a new video clip for one of the most particular and representative songs of our last album. This will be our Christmas present, and we already know it's going to be super-classy!"
The third Fleshgod Apocalypse album "Labyrinth" (reviewed here) - released last year via Nuclear Blast - was produced, mixed, and mastered by Stefano Morabito at 16th Cellar Studio.

Metal guitar virtuoso Xander Demos (Sabbath Judas Sabbath, XDB) is happy to announce he will contribute a track to the upcoming Queen tribute album, "We Will Rock You."
Xander will record a cover of the Queen classic, "I Want It All," and the album will be released in late 2015 on Versailles Records.
Xander is also being prominently featured on the upcoming Versailles Records release, "Guitar Wizards Vol. 3 and 4," expected for early 2015 release. The album will feature some of the biggest names in rock and metal guitar, including current/former lead guitarists from Faith No More, Megadeth, Ozzy Osbourne Band, Kiss, Whitesnake, Guns N Roses, KISS, Poison, Alice Cooper Band, and Jeff Healey.
"We're very excited about Xander's involvement with this upcoming Queen tribute," said Xander's manager, Michael Stover of MTS Management Group. "Xander is a huge Queen fan, and when I approached him about it, he said 'yes' before I could even finish my sentence! 'I Want It All' is such an iconic Queen song, and we're thrilled to be given the chance to record it. We're already in talks with several other well-known rockers to be a part of this track. I don't want to give any names away yet, but I know everyone will be blown away once we announce them. Stay tuned for more!"
Today the Greek black metal mavericks from Thy Darkened Shade are streaming the entirety of their second album, "Liber Lvcifer I: Khem Sedjet," which is out now on W.T.C. Productions.
Give it a listen below, courtesy of Metal Hammer UK. The following press release was also issued about the album:
"Bolder and brasher than the Greeks' celebrated Eternvs Mos, Nex Ritvs debut, Liber Lvcifer I: Khem Sedjet' is a sprawling and serpentine work, a daring and diabolical monument to the eternal light of esoteric illumination.
"At the core of Thy Darkened Shade's aesthetic is the band's profound and intensely studied lyricism. As the serpents of Eden, they are both the shining and the shadows, and consequently know the illusions of good and evil since they originate from the source: Or She-ein Bo Mahshavah, the solitary true light. Thy Darkened Shade are those few who have the wisdom to overcome, the sovereignty to become something evolved, in the forms and likeness of their gods.
"Across Liber Lvcifer I: Khem Sedjet's 78-minute runtime, many names are hailed, amongst them - Satan, Loki, Typhon, Set, Ahriman, Lucifer, Prometheus, Kingu - and the band explore myriad routes toward that burning, searing illumination. But as labyrinthine as Liber Lvcifer I: Khem Sedjet is and its pathways at times beguiling and treacherous, here black metal music serves a greater purpose: the Promethean mantras lead Thy Darkened Shade and the blood of Qayin binds them towards acausal freedom." Originally set for a January release, Listenable Records has pushed back the new Hellish Outcast album "Stay Of Execution" to February 3rd, 2015 in North America.
Hailing from Bergen, Norway, Hellish Outcast carves out a metal genre that is usually underrepresented locally. The band has been highlighted as the epitome of brutal finesse, and the sheer aggression and expansive approach to music displayed by the band is proving that Hellish Outcast is a driving force in the next generation of Norwegian metal music.
"Stay of Execution" was recorded in Grieghallen Studios in Bergen: a place where milestone Norwegian black metal recordings were produced, including albums from Enslaved, Emperor, Immortal, Burzum, and others. The new album's track listing is:
1. Partition Of Lust
2. I Can No Longer See The Sun
4. Hunter Supreme
5. Gods Of Fear
8. Stay Of Execution
9. Morbid Attraction

Argonauta Records has checked in with the following announcement about inking a deal with Last Minute To Jaffna:
"We’re proud to announce that post metallers Last Minute To Jaffna is the new huge band in the Argonauta Records roster!
"Born in Torino (Italy) in the mid of 00's, Last Minute To Jaffna released their first EP in 2006, allowing them to tour in their country and abroad. With their 2008 debut album 'Volume I' they marked a better refinement of their own music style, also touring intensively throughout Europe, even opening for Isis at Torino’s main independent festival.
"2011 marked an important step in the band’s history: after playing an unplugged gig opening for Neurosis’ Scott Kelly they decided to record some old tracks and some new ones with acoustic guitars, clean voices and other odd instruments, helped by Fabrizio Modonese Palumbo of Young God Records’s act Larsen. The result was 'Volume III,' which finally came to light in 2014.
"Now, the new album 'Volume II' is set to be released by the beginning of 2015, and it is anticipated as a blast of heavy and atmospheric post metal sonorities, recorded and mixed by Lorenzo Stecconi (Ufomammut) and mastered by Collin Jordan (Yob, Corrections House, Minks)."
The PA metal beard warriors from Black Crown Initiate have debuted another music video, this time for their single "The Fractured One," taken off new LP "The Wreckage Of Stars."

Black Crown Initiate will round out the year supporting label mates Crowbar and Unearth this December followed by a heavy hitting run with Napalm Death, Voivod, Exhumed, and Iron Reagan early next year.

Abhorrent Decimation today confirms material for the band's debut album is complete. Vocalist Ashley Scott had this to say:
“I’m delighted to say as far as writing is concerned we are finished, done and dusted – we spent most of last weekend polishing up the pre-pro demos and now we are all booked in to the studios to record our own individual parts.
"Something is mutating, it’s been a tough process to tell the truth, testing at times. I would be surprised if any band said it was easy and that they can just churn the material out, without incident. We focused heavily on what aspects of the 'Infected Celestial Utopia' EP we wanted to elaborate on, traits we wanted to eradicate, new influences we wanted to let in etc.
"The concept for this record had been in my mind for sometime, I knew the visuals I wanted to create and the story I wanted to tell with it. It can’t go unmentioned that our guitarist Dave [McKinney] again has an absolute integral role to play in the making of this album. I’m glad to say however we all have had a part to play, [Will] Cooke has some riffs in there, [David] Archer has some compositional input on a few of the tracks as well as composing all the intro and interlude arrangements. In the main, a real team effort. More...
The Australian metal visionaries from Ne Obliviscaris have seen their new album "Citade"' debut at #42 on Australia's top 50 charts and #12 on the Australian Artist Album Chart category.
The ARIA (Australian recording industry association) chart, Australia's equivalent of North America's Billboard, sees the band positioned alongside international recording artists ranging from Foo Fights to Slipknot, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and more.
Regarding the charting, the band comments: "When you play in a band like ours and release an album like 'Citadel' charting in the mainstream pop charts is not something you ever really consider so this is a bit surreal to us. A massive thank you to all our Australian fans for your support and buying our new album. We can't wait to share all these new songs with you live when our Australian tour kicks off next week!" In a recent press statement, UABB’s Danny Leal mentions, “It was amazing doing a video with Ice-T. He is such an inspiration. To be able to have him in a UABB video is a true honor. We hope everyone enjoys and parties to our remake of 'Turn Down For What.'"
Experimental, avant-garde rock outfit 6:33 will release "Deadly Scenes" this coming January 12th (Europe) and January 13th (North American and digital) via Kaotoxin Records.
Today we're bringing you the exclusive premiere of the artwork, track listing, and a teaser trailer, which can all be found below. Kaotoxin Records also comments:
"A cemetery on a cold Halloween night… A tomb opens. A wicked and deformed little corpse rises. Old blood on his decomposed face forms a clown-y red nose… His parents lay dead in the graveyard… Devin Townsend, Mike Patton, Tim Burton… Eating their rotten flesh, the undead little one, mouth full of remains, rise his head to the Moon and screams: 'Cowabunga!' 6:33 rise again!
"After the success of the self-released second full-length, 'The Stench from the Swelling (a true story)' – a collaboration with CinC / Carnival In Coal & We All Die (Laughing) singer Arno Strobl – the band is back with 'Deadly Scenes,' a cinematic masterpiece of titanic proportions featuring nine tracks of totally twisted yet absolutely catchy Rock’n’Roll hymns you won’t be able to stop singing all day long after the very first listen!
"The band’s technical ability is mind-blowing, yet it’s never used to show off, but to explore territories that without their songcrafting magic would never fit together. A Frankenstein-ish nightly creature dressed in a grotesque clowny costume: as funny as scary, as ridiculously wicked as fascinatingly twisted.
"Experiencing a 6:33 album is like being on a bad LSD trip playing a Devin Townsend album while watching Tim Burton’s 'Corpse Bride'… and it’s all legal! Will you dare it?"
2. Ego fandango
3. The walking fed
4. I'm a nerd
5. Modus operandi

On the eve of returning to the stage in the band's native Switzerland after an absence of more than two years, and two weeks before embarking on a tour of Europe with At The Gates, Swiss avant-garde extreme metal act Triptykon is debuting a new visualization for a track off the “Melana Chasmata” album (reviewed here).
See the video for the album’s opening track, “Tree Of Suffocating Souls," in the YouTube player below. The video was directed by Philipp Hirsch (who previously worked with Triptykon for the "Shatter" and “Aurorae” video clips).
Triptykon singer/guitarist Tom Gabriel Warrior comments: "In producing this footage, we have elected to once again work in partnership with long-standing Triptykon collaborator and director, Philipp Hirsch, in Leipzig, Germany. As intensely minimalist as Triptykon's approach and music are, as perfect and passionate was Philipp in creating images which combine such minimalism with the required darkness. The night during which most of these images were created was, for many reasons, a truly extraordinary night none of us shall ever forget." More...
Ahead of a U.K. headliner tour kicking off in Nottingham next Monday, The Defiled just released a brand new video for the song "Five Minutes," which is available below.
Featuring the newly recorded, full band version of the acoustic song that originally appeared on album "Daggers," "Five Minutes" combines footage shot during the band's trip to Greenland (where The Defiled performed a live set on an iceberg), cut with tributes from fans who have lost loved ones. The band comments:
"Five Minutes is probably our most emotional song, and the one most personal to me. We didn't originally plan to film a video for this, but when we were out in Greenland we had the opportunity to film the performance part. Despite the breathtaking beauty of our surroundings, that wasn't enough to really convey the deep emotions of this song, so as a song that deals with loss, we asked our fans to share their stories with us, and offered them the chance to pay tribute to their lost loved ones. The feedback was overwhelming - in more ways than one - and you couldn't help but be touched reading all the stories the 'defilers' shared with us.
"The day of filming was an emotional rollercoaster - bittersweet. So much sadness in the air, but also therapeutic at the same time. I think everyone there felt the same. It's easy to look at people like us - metalheads, goths, whatever you want to call us - and think we are morbid people obsessed with death, that death is something we welcome, but just 'cos we wear black it doesn't make us immune to grief. The pain one feels when losing someone close is universal, and something no one is exempt from.
"I want to thank all of the defilers who came along to take part in this. You are all beautiful, brave and have helped us make our best video yet - thank you"" More...

Brazilian metal act Angra announced that the band's new release, and first album to feature vocalist Fabio Lione (Rhapsody of Fire) and drummer Bruno Valverde (Kiko Loureiro), will be entitled "Secret Garden." The album is the first release in four years ("Aqua" in 2010) and will be released by JVC in Asia on December 17th, via Universal Music in Brazil and Edel Music in Europe both on January 16, 2015 and then later in USA, Canada and Russia (date TBA). A lyric video for the first single "Newborn Me" can be heard below.
The eighth studio album brings what the band has called "a true renewal in the style of the band." With production by legendary producer Roy Z (Judas Priest, Bruce Dickinson, Halford), "Secret Garden" was recorded and produced in Sweden by Jens Bogren (Kreator, Arch Enemy, Opeth). "Secret Garden" brings together everything that has made Angra one of the biggest bands in the world, with contemporary and inspired compositions.
The album's artwork was created by Rodrigo Bastos Didier and designed together with guitarist Rafael Bittencourt, and represents the album's dream part of the story, the entrance to the secret garden. Visually, it represents a significant change, exploring textures and nuances that escape the digital arts today.
One of the great strengths of the album is the variety of guests, among which are singers. Epica's Simone Simons appears in the title track "Secret Garden", and the Metal Queen Doro Pesch appears in an exciting vocal duet with Rafael Bittencourt in the song "Crushing Room". I
The track list for the album is:

4. Storm of Emotions
5. Violet Sky
