"We had a fall out with the booking agency who set this tour up. Not going to mention any specific names because that's just not who we are.

"We will see you soon."

Stray From The Path has issued the following announcement about dropping a forthcoming tour with The Acacia Strain and Emmure:
"Sadly, we have announced that Stray has pulled out of the Emmure/Acacia Strain tour. Its been a ridiculous year for us and the hardest we have ever toured, with something like 44 days off since January, and despite our previous ideas that not being on tour was the worst possible scenario for the band, its caught up with us and severely affected our personal lives at home.
"In our heads, we thought not being on tour was wrong, and that for us, not touring was a cause of cancer, not touring should be avoided, not touring would make our dicks fly off. We have never cancelled anything in our career, so hopefully everyone knows how serious a situation had to be in order for us to feel the need to make this decision.
"There are a lot of people behind the scenes that put work into a tour, promoters, agents, bands, managers, friends and most importantly supporters of our band, that we let down in this scenario, but still thought that it would be better for the future of this band, which is extremely important to us, and we hope everyone mentioned above.
"We will be utilizing this time to finish up writing our next album, and we hit the studio this February with Will Putney, and then hitting the road again immediately after.
"Finally, our apologies to Emmure, The Acacia Strain, Fit For A King, and Kublai Khan, and everyone involved. Sylar will be added to the tour, and our boys in FFAK will be taking our spot. See you all again in early 2015."
Progressive death metal project Vihaan released debut full-length album "Invicta" last month, and now all the tracks can be heard in the Bandcamp player below. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Hailing from the Detroit, Michigan area of the United States, Vihaan has been crafting its sound since the band's inception in 2012 into a mixture of modern progressive death metal, 70's prog rock, and jazz fusion to produce a debut album with a running time of more then 45 minutes across seven tracks.
"Vihaan is headed up by mastermind Lorenzo Piccirilli (Guitars, Bass, Programming, Backing Vocals) while bringing in session members to handle the drum work (Christopher Burrows) and vocals (Anthony Lipari) for the recording of 'Invicta.' Lorenzo and Chris mixed the album, while the mastering duties were performed by Colin Marston (Gorguts, Dysrhythmia, Behold... The Arctopus). Vihaan's logo was designed by artist Travis Smith who has created artwork for many established Rock and Metal bands. (Opeth, Avenged Sevenfold, Nevermore, etc.)"
The album's track listing is as follows:

"Beyond The Red Mirror" will be the title of the tenth studio album by Germany’s Blind Guardian.
Four-and-a-half years in the making, the follow-up to 2010’s "At The Edge Of Time" (reviewed here) is scheduled for release in Europe on January 30th, 2015 and February 3rd, 2015 in North America.
Recorded at Twilight Hall Studio in Grefrath, Germany and produced by Charlie Bauerfeind, "Beyond The Red Mirror" showcases Blind Guardian's collaborative work with three different classical choirs: one from the Czech Republic (Prague), one from Hungary (Budapest), and one from the United States (Boston). Two grand orchestras - each featuring 90 musicians – also lend their brilliant talents to the new recordings.
Transporting listeners via a mysteriously powerful red mirror into an otherworldly dimension that includes tyrants, gods, and the Holy Grail, the ten songs comprising the album's story lines revolve around the young protagonist we first met twenty years ago in the 1995 tracks “Bright Eyes” and “And The Story Ends.”
“A story between science fiction and fantasy,” explains Blind Guardian vocalist & lyricist Hansi Kürsch. “The story begins with our 1995 album, Imaginations From The Other Side. The two worlds described therein have changed dramatically for the worse since then. While there used to be several passages between the worlds, there is only one gate left now: The Red Mirror. It has to be found at any cost.”
Asked to describe the band’s guiding principles for the creation of this new release, Blind Guardian guitarist André Olbrich shares: “We want to surprise and impress with our music. Nowadays, music tends to be arbitrary and predictable. But we want to keep developing our music.” More...
After cancelling a tour with Epica and Children of Bodom to finish work on new album "Bloodstone & Diamonds," Machine Head has announced a replacement tour (unsurprisingly with no support acts attached this time).
Machine Head will headline the North American tour in January with no openers or even local bands performing, instead offering up a two-hour set each night.
"We’re doing ‘An Evening With’ Machine Head Meaning: it’ll just be us, folks,” commented guitarist/vocalist Robb Flynn. “We are really excited about the idea, playing longer sets, throwing in some deep cuts, and just having our own world. Promoters in the U.S. seem really stoked about it, some have said it feels like ‘an event’.”
In regards to the band’s decision to only headline for this touring cycle as well as no longer play festivals, Flynn elaborates: "We’re not trying to have a good time with a bunch of people who don’t know who we are. If Machine Head throws a party, big or small, we don’t want a bunch of ‘strangers’ there. This is about us and you guys, the die-hards! The Fucking Undesirables! We don’t care about the others out there. We’re here and we’re not going anywhere, if those people want to be a part of this, they know where to find us. So for the time being, and maybe ‘forever’ we’re done reaching out for them." More...
After apparently reading some negative reviews of new album "Suspended At Aphelion," While Heaven Wept decided to give Wintersun a run for its money in the category of unnecessarily long Facebook rants.
Clearly not understanding the difference between facts and opinions, While Heaven Wept has issued the following statement about claims the band's new album is uninspired and lacking in creativity:
"The longer we exist, the more albums released, the more we achieve, the more visible we are, the more we are scrutinized…this all comes with the territory, and we certainly do not expect accolades, nor are we delusional; While Heaven Wept is not and has never been for everyone…in fact, it’s never been for anyone other than myself and the people who these songs are about - our lives, our stories…but, it does have a deep meaning for the musicians involved, as well as those out there who can empathize/had similar experiences. It’s NOT for everyone, and I fully expect that there will be those who actually loathe what we do. Honestly, that is neither my concern, nor my problem…and I would rather be polarizing than condemned to some grey area. I appreciate that there are those who truly love what we do as much as those who despise it - not too fond of the few falling in the 'middle of the road,' but the world doesn’t revolve around WHW or myself.
"What I intend to address here are some allegations and criticisms that are simply 100% false; you see, it’s one thing to say 'I just don’t get it' or 'I don’t like this band or their music'…that’s fine, especially when this is bolstered with sound reason…but it’s a completely different thing to throw out statements that seem as though the reviewer has some supernatural insight…speaking of inspiration (or lack thereof), or suggesting that what we do is in fact 'middle of the road' as far as degrees of creativity. And of course, there are those who can’t give up ghosts, or simply don’t bother to listen to the albums the way they were intended to be heard…or hemmed up with 'ideas' of what something should be versus what it actually is. Or isn’t. I’ll attempt to address some of this as well. For the sake of clarity, all of this is in response to feedback we’ve received, heard, and witnessed over the course of the unveiling of Suspended At Aphelion, but I will offer some insights into 'the bigger picture' as well.
"Allow me to address the fallacies and untruths first: More...

South Australian thrash metal quartet Alkira today releases an official film clip for "Submission Therapy," the first single from debut album “Juggernaut.”
Speaking about the video, drummer Ryan comments: “It is silly…very silly. The song is themed around the ideas of domination and submission in a number of different contexts, both forced and voluntary. We threw a few ideas around and then our film guy Brett Hookham ran with it. We're stoked with how it has turned out so hopefully it gets a few laughs!”

Decimating Paris-based sludge/hardcore outfit Cowards has completed the final stages of preparation on a second full-length helping of callous and remorseless hymns of self destruction, and is now ready to contaminate the planet with "Rise To Infamy" this Winter.

Bassist Jonathan Athon from Black Tusk passed away this weekend after being in a motorcycle crash, and since then many bands from across the metal community have commented on how Athon impacted their lives.
Skeletonwitch shared this story about Black Tusk:
"Many years ago we left Ohio, bound for Savannah, GA, to tour with some new friends in a band called Black Tusk. In a now legendary move (that we will never let him forget) Andrew from Black Tusk booked the shows on the wrong calendar year! This resulted in about 5 days off in a row while things got sorted out.
"Andrew, James, and Athon rolled out the red carpet (and about 500 beers) and let us move in to 'Black Tusk Manor' for those 5 days. We've been family ever since.
"Yesterday we lost a brother. Athon, we miss you. We will carry your music and the many, many, memories with us forever. Our thoughts are with Andrew, James, Athon's family, and the entire creative community in Savannah, where Jonathan Athon will be sorely missed." More...

After having worked with the band for several years in the United States already, it is with great pleasure that Nuclear Blast Records can officially announce the worldwide signing of Great Britain's Cradle Of Filth. Iconic vocalist Dani Filth had this to say on the subject:
"Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger has been trying to snare the band ever since I flew over to see him way back in 1996 as a viable label option, after we left Cacophonous records. He barely missed out due to the close proximity to the band of Music For Nations, the label that Cradle stayed with until 2001. Now, not only do Nuclear Blast have offices all over the world, but the one in London is actually dead opposite to the old MFN building! Which is weird!
"For the full frontal assault we have planned for the awesome new album, Nuclear Blast are the perfect war stallion to carry us screaming into the heart of the next chapter of COF's dark, enigmatic history. Next year is going to be a massive year for the band and the black flags start flying here, with the announcement of our unholy union with Nuclear Blast who have already done great things with my Witch County band, Devilment."
Cradle Of Filth just returned from a successful run through Russia and will hit the studio to begin recording the successor of 2012's "The Manticore And Other Horrors" (reviewed here) later this month. More...
Shadow Kingdom Records will reissue "Out of the Abyss," the seventh full-length release from Manilla Road, on January 13th, 2015.
Originally released in 1988, guitarist/founder Mark “The Shark” Shelton describes the album in the reissue’s liner notes as having “some of the most brutal material that MR has ever done." Shelton goes on to say that “it was the last album in an epic quest by Randy, Scott and I to be as fast and furious as possible with some of the songs…and most of the topics were quite dark and based on Cthulhu mythos or other horror and mystery directions.”
Shadow Kingdom Records’ Tim McGrogan had this to say: “Most fans think the golden era is Crystal Logic through Mystification, but we encourage fans to spend more time with this album. The first thing that’s interesting about this album is that it originally contained one of Manilla Road's greatest epic songs ever, 'The Book of Skelos.'
"The song was dropped off of the album for some unknown reason (that would be a good interview question for Mark Shelton), and later appeared on a different pressing of The Courts of Chaos and we’re not entirely sure that song even made it to the first pressing of that album either.
"Strangely enough if you’re familiar with that song and can imagine that song being a part of this album, Out of the Abysswould arguably be one of the best Manilla Road albums and would have expanded and been part of what’s now considered their classic era. The album is dark, evil, thrash-y heavy metal with some killer King Diamond-esque vocal screams. Without a doubt Out of the Abysshas some of the fastest, most intense Thrash Metal not only on any Manilla Roadalbum, but of any 80’s thrash metal album.” More...

Pitch Black Records today welcomes Cyprus-based black metal band Stormcast to its artist roster. The label comments:
"Formed in 2007 in Nicosia, Cyprus and influenced by the status of society and people’s own personal struggle, Stormcast sought to write music to express them and create something that defines them.
"Following a 4-track promo in 2009 and a 3-track promo in 2012 the band’s debut album is now ready to be unleashed! The band has extensive live experience, having performed at MetalDays Festival and having supported acts such as Rotting Christ, Sabaton, Stratovarius and Nightstalker among others.
"Through writing and experimenting with its own material, the band slowly found its style of music; that of atmospheric black metal. Blending touches of symphonic metal as well as gothic and melodic death metal and a subtle dose of doom, Stormcast have created a unique style and sound that they can truly call their own. The band members are passionate and determined and this is clearly evident throughout their work." More...
Philadelphia-based black metal band Malphas is prepping a new EP titled "The Conjuring" for release, and today we're stoked to bring you some symphonic darkness ahead of the release date.
Check out our exclusive premiere of the new song "Shards Of Truth" below, and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments section.
Founded in 2012 by Paul DeSanctis and Eric Dunleavy, accompanied by Dave Guglielmi and Damian DiFrancesco, Malphas conjures malevolent sounds straight from the Scandinavian scene.
The four piece comes together with a healthy blend of melodic death, black, and power metal, with additional occasional touches of prog and jazz, Malphas is a well-rounded and innovative display of modern heavy metal.
The band's lyrics are written as a concept story revolving around Malphas, the 39th goetic spirit in demonology. Malphas serves as the grand president and general of hell; commanding forty legions of demons and appearing before conjurers in the form of a crow.
Cover artwork for "The Conjuring" was designed by Alec Pezzano. "Malphas approached me with some existing artwork and just asked for my professional opinion," Pezzano remembers. "After explaining to them what I thought and what they should be looking for, they asked if I'd do the artwork for them. The only initial info they gave me was they wanted a crow, a Satanic sort of temple setting, and the color blue. I took the concept and ran with it, putting my own spin on the elements they gave me. I took it a step further after hearing the title and thought of the crow as an omen or spirit guide, a bringer of darkness—hence the glowing talisman."
The EP's track listing is as follows:
1. The Conjuring
2. Shards Of Truth
4. Visions Of The Burning Darkness
5. Heaven's Fall More...
