Each week we check in with metal bands across the genre spectrum to get their most memorable Pit Stories from live shows.
Today Indestructible Noise Command guitarist Erik Barath shared this tale of the bat wing being invented in Long Island and a fan taking advantage of pain to try to make off with free merch:
The craziest pit story is probably the time we played at the Sundance in Long Island. It was Dennis' birthday and some dude jumped on stage with nothing but a sock on. He dove on top of the crowd, lost his sock and ended up bat winging a bunch of fans. I think he invented bat winging that night.
Another dude dove off the stage, smashed his head and passed out. Our manager took him back stage to recover and when he went back to check on the dude, he found the guy stuffing his pants with our merch. Dennis got wacked in the mouth with the mic stand, chipped his tooth. Fun night overall.
I.N.C. just released fourth album "Black Hearse Serenade" on Ferocious Records, as well as a music video for the track "No Turning Back," which was directed by Thomas Mignone (Slipknot, System of a Down, Mudvayne), and starring Michael Rodrick from the TV show "24." Transmission Entertainment delivered its ninth installment of the Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas. Four stages offered a variety of sounds from Hip-Hop and Electronic (Blue Stage), to Indie Rock (Orange Stage), Comedy (Yellow Stage) and Rock (Black Stage). Additional shows were held at clubs around the city as part of the FFF Nites. A ring was set up to watch wrestling. Next to the ring was a skate ramp for Pro BMX bikes and pro skaters. Games such as bean-bag tosses and Shiner bottle cap checkers were also in place. A movie screen besides the stage was a new addition that made viewing each band much easier, especially for shorter fans. Bean bags and rut sacks were located around trees so one could lay in the shade on a soft object. More...
Sonic Syndicate just posted the fourth video blog from the band's recently concluded "Diabolical Tour Of Art" headlining trek.
Take a look behind the curtains in the player below. Be sure to also check out the previous episode at this location.
The tour led the band through Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic, supporting the group's brand new self-titled album, which was released back in June. The album has hit the official album charts in Germany (#36) and Austria (#74).
Furthermore the band has also been confirmed to support label mates Machine Head on these dates through Scandinavia:
29th Nov - Store Vega, Copenhagen Denmark
30th Nov - Sentrum Scene, Oslo Norway
1st Dec - Arenan, Stockholm Sweden
Commented singer Nathan James Biggs: "If I could pick any band in the world to share a stage with I guarantee MACHINE-Fuckin-HEAD would be in the top 3! These shows are gonna be insane and we get to roll out the most brutal tracks from our new album, really let loose on stage, and on our home-turf no less! Knowing Rob Flynn is going up after us is really gonna push me to kill it every night as he's one of the best frontmen in the business. Both SONIC SYNDICATE and MH fans should be psyched, this tour will be one of the most devastating runs to hit Scandinavia, ever!" More...

The Banner today offers up another track off forthcoming new album, "Greying." Stream "Unbaptized" below, thanks to Alternative Press.
The Banner frontman JSS comments: "'Unbaptized' just barely didn't make it onto our previous album, 2008's 'Frailty.' After simmering for a long time I chopped off the second half and tried to crank in as legit a thrash part as I could muster, to counterbalance the ignorance of the beginning. The lyrics are a fairly common theme for me, more or less about my growing feeling of disconnection with the places that I once felt most at ease."
The Banner's third full-length album (and first in six years), "Greying" hits stores December 9th on Good Fight Music. The album was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Will Putney (Body Count, The Acacia Strain) and Randy Leboeuf. See the band live on these dates:

The organizers of the Roadburn Festival 2015 have issued the following statement about a special show from Anathema:
"It is our honour to announce that Anathema will headline the Sunday date of the 20th edition of Roadburn Festival, at the 013 venue on April 12, 2015 in Tilburg, The Netherlands, with a special performance that will span the innovative British band’s 25-year career, and include special guest appearances by former bassist and songwriter Duncan Patterson and original singer Darren White. The Roadburn show will be one of just a few dates that will make up Anathema’s short 2015 ‘Resonance’ tour.
"Anathema have steadily built a loyal following worldwide, and their career trajectory is unlike that of any other band in the last quarter century, and will be reflected and celebrated in reverse chronological order at Roadburn 2015. Starting with the anthemic progressive rock of their recent work (2012’s classic Weather Systems and 2010’s We’re Here Because We’re Here), the performance will gradually move back in time through the more gothic-oriented material of 1998’s Alternative 4 and 1996’s Eternity, all the way back to the pioneering work of 1995’s The Silent Enigma and the 1993 debut Serenades, with Patterson and White joining the band onstage for an historic reunion. Ex-Sepultura drummer Igor Cavalera "really hopes" that the group's classic lineup can one day reunite, but says that there are no concrete plans for him and his brother Max to rejoin their former bandmates.
Igor left Sepultura in June 2006 due to "artistic differences." His departure from the band came five months after he announced that he was taking a break from Sepultura touring activities to spend time with his second wife and their new son (who was born in January 2006). In 1996, Max left Sepultura after the band fired Max's wife Gloria as their manager.
Asked by Metal Wani if there is any chance of a reformation of Sepultura late '80s/early '90s lineup — featuring Igor and Max alongside guitarist Andreas Kisser and bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. — Igor said: "I hope so, but there's nothing solid. The only solid thing right now, it's what I do with Max, and it's Cavalera Conspiracy. Like, the whole Sepultura thing, it's something that we don't know if it's gonna happen or not. To be honest, I really hope one day we can do this in a very cool way." More...
