As Blood Runs Black Drops Off Tour

As Blood Runs Black has dropped off their current tour. Here's a statment from the band:

"Due to a situation out of our control we are forced to drop off the tour. We were left empty promises and the 'party' booking this tour was full of B.S. and handled things in the most unprofessional way possible. It is in our best interest to step off the tour and focus on booking something small on our own. Dont worry.. we are in talks with some pretty rad booking agents and we will book a tour that runs near your area soon. We will make it up to you guys."

Prejudice Part w/ Bassist, Seeking Replacement

Belgian technical death metal combo PREJUDICE have issued the following update:

"Greco and Prejudice have decided to part ways. This was no slap in our face because we saw this coming since a couple of months! The reason for his departure was that his heart was not in extreme death metal anymore or better said metal in general. He will not stop playing the bass. He will focus on jazzy stuff but not full time in a band anymore. We wish him luck in his further musical career, whatever he’ll be doing."

"We can only thank him for the enormous amount of effort and enthusiasm he's always put in the band the past 2 years. He'll always remain a part of the team, and it sure will be hard to find a replacement. But that will not hold us down for our future plans with the band!"

"Knowing this, the band chose to initially go on as a 4 piece until we have found a suitable replacement for this vacant spot. And as from today, interested bass players can drop us a line at prejudice@pandora.be"

Important requirements are:
- have own gear
- be willing to tour
- permanent motivation
- have a good stage presence, professional attitude

PREJUDICE can offer you:
- Recordings at Excess Studio, Rotterdam for upcoming full length (January 2007)
- band is currently signed to Greek label Sleaszy Rider Records
- tours, mini-tours and single gigs are always being scheduled

You can hear some of Prejudice's material at their MySpace page.

Interview With Corey Taylor

Mandy Feingold of FMQB recently conducted an interview with SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor. An excerpt from the chat follows:

FMQB: This new STONE SOUR record is even more of a departure from your identity with SLIPKNOT than the first record. Is it important for you to keep those two musical identities separate?

Corey: "It is, but it isn't. The reason the album sounds the way it does is because it's actually closer to old-school STONE SOUR than it is anything else. I think when we did the first STONE SOUR album we were just throwing everything together to see what would happen. With this album, we knew we had an audience, and we knew people had really dug the stuff that we put on the first album. So we were like, 'Let's get back to basics. Let's get back to the thought process of, if we write something and we dig it, no matter how diverse it is, we'll put it out.' That's how the album came together, and that's really what this band is about."

FMQB: What do you get out of doing STONE SOUR that you don't get from SLIPKNOT?

Corey: "Everything else, let's put it that way. SLIPKNOT is still very grounded in the metal genre. It's very dark. And that's one side of my personality and one side of the things I like to do. STONE SOUR kind of allows me to do everything else, and that's what's so great about it. I know it's definitely why we put it back together, and I think it's why we have such a blast doing it."

FMQB: Do you think the bands have two different fan bases?

Corey: "I do. I think there are actually three different groups of people. There are people that love SLIPKNOT and don't really care about STONE SOUR. There are people in the middle that like both. And then there are people who really dig STONE SOUR and really don't care about SLIPKNOT. So I've got the best of everything right now. I'm actually in a really good spot. We've got a lot of fans that have made a decision, and that's the thing you want at the end of the day. You want people to either love it or hate it, but not to dismiss it."

FMQB: When you write a song, how do you know if it's for STONE SOUR or SLIPKNOT?

Corey: "When I write the music it's pretty much a guaranteed STONE SOUR song, because that's more the style that I write in. With SLIPKNOT, everybody in the band is so good technically in that genre that I just kind of sit back and go, 'You know what, I'll handle the lyrics, it's all good.' I think in the 10 years I've been in SLIPKNOT, I've written four riffs. But with STONE SOUR, it's much more of a hard rock deal. Even the heavier stuff — it's more fluid. That's where my musical style fits in. So when I write something with a guitar, I pretty much know it's a STONE SOUR song right out of the gate. Lyrically, it's a little different. I tend to let the music dictate where I'm going lyrically, so if a song is not my music, then it can go either way. When Paul [Gray] and Joey [Jordison] bring me stuff, obviously it's going to be a SLIPKNOT song. When Jim [Root] and Josh [Rand] bring me something, it's pretty much guaranteed to be a STONE SOUR thing. But when I'm just sitting around writing lyrics that I really don't have anything for, you never know. I may hear something that Paul and Joey have written, and I go, 'You know what, I wrote something about a year ago that could fit with that.' So it's really a crapshoot."

Godheads New Album To Include Bonus DVD

GODHEAD frontman Jason C. Miller has posted the following message on the band's MySpace page:

"I'm excited that [the new GODHEAD album] 'The Shadow Line' is going to be released in one month, and I wanted to tell you about what else is coming with the CD. When you buy 'The Shadow Line' (hopefully on the day it comes out, August 29th) you are going to get a BONUS DVD with it. This will not be a DualDisc or an advanced CD but you will actually get a CD and a DVD. On the DVD will be three music videos and a 25-minute documentary on the band, from making the album to making the video and other behind the scenes stuff. This will NOT increase the price of the package AT ALL and you will be getting both discs for the price of one CD. We wanted to do this for a while and now we finally have the means to do so.

"Thanks for supporting us for so many years. With this album and new label I believe we will finally live up to the potential that weve always had and what many of you have hoped for us. There are SO many factors for a record to be successful, from marketing to touring to timing and more, but it all starts with YOU, our supporters. Your letters have really kept us going when we've gone through dark times, as so many of you have told us that our music has done the same for you. I think everyone wants to make a difference in the world, and I'm glad that in some small way our music has made a difference in your world. Please know I try to read every one of your emails and letters and I truly appreciate every single one. We also plan to tour HEAVILY to promote this record for the rest of this year and on into 2007, in North America as well as Europe and beyond. Our agent is currently booking a package tour that includes two COOL bands that well be touring with. I'm not sure I can announce that yet so I'll keep it under wraps for now. Look for tour dates to be posted in the next few weeks. See you on the road soon!"

GODHEAD will release their new album, "The Shadow Line", on August 29 in the U.S. and September 4 in the rest of the world through new label Cement Shoes Records. The band recently parted ways with drummer James O'Connor due to "personal reasons" and have since replaced him with former LOSER skinsman Glendon Crain. Watch the group's video for their new single, "Trapped In Your Lies", at this location.

Avenged Sevenfold Singer Gets Political

Steve Knopper of Newsday.com eports that AVENGED SEVENFOLD wants to warn liberals about something. The metal band's song "Blinded In Chains", which begins with the line "And we're at it again — I turn around another -- war, man," has absolutely nothing to do with the war in Iraq. Or any other war involving guns and bombs. "If I read it, I'd probably get that interpretation, too. I could probably have done a better job," says singer and lyricist M. Shadows, sheepishly. "I've definitely looked at that song and seen where people are coming from."

In fact, "Blinded In Chains" is about the philosophical war between Republicans and Democrats. The former are excessively closed-minded, says Shadows, 24, and the latter are "a bunch of -- idiots where everyone looks at Michael Moore and does what he says." If from that statement you can't glean the band's politics, consider that AVENGED SEVENFOLD sells American-flag T-shirts proclaiming, "Love It Or Die".

"Most people know we're kind of one of the only bands around right now that will admit that we're Republican," says Shadows, who performs at Saturday's Ozzfest on Randall's Island. "When we went on the [punk-rock] Warped Tour last year — all of those bands, they're not only anti-war, they're anti-everything our country stands for. We were like, ' -- this.' We're going to wear our America shirts.

"Kids would eat it up. They loved it," adds Shadows, born Matt Sanders. He acknowledges he's not especially pro-war. "Ninety percent of those bands are talking -- about [President] Bush to 16-year-old kids who can't vote and are just ranting because it's the cool thing to do. It's one of those things where we went out there and did the complete opposite."
