More Info On Dark Funeral, Enslaved Tour

Candlelight Records recently announced its second North American label tour package. Set to kick off January 9 Candlelight II: Phoenix Rising will feature the long-awaited stateside return of Dark Funeral (Sweden), Enslaved (Norway) and introduce newcomers Abigail Williams (USA). The tour will visit 20-plus cities before concluding on February 4.

Dark Funeral guitarist/founding member Lord Ahriman says, "since we announced the first European tour dates for our latest album Attera Totus Sanctus earlier this year, there has been a constant and completely overwhelming flow of mails from the US and Canada asking when the hell we will tour North America. Well finally dates are being booked! Last time we toured the US supporting Cannibal Corpse in 2002 we had a blast. Everyone we met during that tour was really cool. The crowd was totally awesome. It'll be killer to finally return overseas! I have the feeling that this is going to be one hell of a tour and we hope see you in January!"

Enslaved guitarist Ivar Bjornson adds, "I have awaited this moment since I don’t know when and now it is official: an extensive Enslaved tour in North America is becoming reality. We have been working every possible angle of getting over to present our music for years. We are looking forward to seeing each and every one of you at the shows. You won’t be disappointed; neither will we."

The tour continues Candlelight's growing commitment to the live forum. Recent Candlelight artists to visit the US include Vader (Poland),Destruction (Germany), and Emperor (Norway). This fall Candlelight will present tours from Dismember (Sweden), Epica (Netherlands), 1349 (Norway), Sahg (Norway), Daylight Dies (USA) and Witchcraft (Sweden), with additional festivals and tour announcements to soon follow.

Dates and ticket on sale information for Candlelight II: Phoenix Rising will be announced shortly. The first date to be revealed is as follows:

January 9 - Springfield, VA @ Jaxx

Boy Sets Fire Calling It Quits

Boy Sets Fire will be breaking up this fall. Formed in 1994, the Delaware band has previously released material with Initial Records, Victory Records, Wind-Up Records, and Equal Vision Records, among others. Here's a statement from the band:

"Dear friends, it is not with a heavy heart that we write these words but with a head held high. We wanted to collectively inform you that Boysetsfire has decided to retire. Thank you all for your support and belief in us over the last 12 years... please know it meant the world to us. Boysetsfire for us was always a vehicle for changing the world and we believe that change comes about by starting with yourself, so instead of awaiting certain things to come our way, as always we decided to take our destiny in our own hands. We're not sure which path each of us will take from here on out, but we plan to continue following our dreams... we will play all the shows of our upcoming European tour and possibly one or two last shows on the East Coast sometime this fall (we will keep you posted on this). Good-night."

John Tempesta To Fill On Testament's Tour

Drummer John Tempesta (ex-WHITE ZOMBIE, TESTAMENT, EXODUS, HELMET) will rejoin his former TESTAMENT bandmates on August 25 when the band play the Kaliakra Stadium in Sofia, Bulgaria. He will be filling in for Louie Clemente, who has been absent from the recent dates due to medical reasons.

Mustaine On Gigantour 2

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message on the "Forums" section of the Gigantour web site:

"Welcome to Gigantour 2006! I doubt I will get to meet many of you, but just know that I look forward to those of you that I do meet.

"I am very proud of the bands that I have chosen this year. And although some of us are similar, most of us aren't. One thing is that the guitarists are what makes me the proudest!

"To stand among the next generation of lead guitar heroes is thrilling, and while some may doubt the validity of what I am going to say, I look forward to seeing if I can learn anything from these excellent musicians. Old dogs can learn new tricks.

"I also want to keep an eye on all of the vocalists, especially the dude from THE SMASHUP, he has to sing in at least four or five different charachters when he sings — hella kewl!!! Knowing me, it's prolly all of the band taking turns and I'm just completely fooled.

"So, that's it for now. Come back soon, come back often, come out and see us on Gigantour 2006 North America, unless you are in Australia, then stay there and we'll come to you for Gigantour 2006 Australia, fondly called G.2006.OZ.

"Thank you for being part of my dream, part of this tour, part of our scene, and I will be watching you!"

The second edition of MEGADETH's Gigantour festival trek, which bowed last summer, will begin on September 7 in San Diego, California and feature LAMB OF GOD, OPETH, ARCH ENEMY, OVERKILL, THE SMASHUP, INTO ETERNITY and SANCTITY in addition to the headliner.

MEGADETH will release a new studio album, called "United Abominations", on October 31 via Roadrunner Records.

A CD of the first Gigantour will be out on August 22, while a DVD arrives on September 5.

Bury Your Dead Comments On Albums Success, New Vid

Fresh off of a stint on the Strhess Tour, alongside Shadows Fall, Poison the Well and more, BURY YOUR DEAD’s July 11th release, “Beauty and the Breakdown” (Victory) charted #129 on the Billboard 200, selling 7,039 copies in its first week. This record is the brutal follow up to the very successful Victory Records release, “Cover Your Tracks” which has sold 90,000 copies to date.

Regarding the release and charting of the album, guitarist Slim states, “If you had asked me when I started this band 5 years ago if anything we have accomplished by now would have happened I would have said Fuck off you're out of your mind. This is just another one of those things. I just like to think, what would M otley Crue do ?"

On top of the new record being released, the band are busy regarding their first music video from the new album, for the track “House of Straw”. Slim comments, “We shot a video this past Sunday (July 23) in DC with Joseph Pattersal (Darkest Hour) for the first single on our new record, “House of Straw.” Things are looking awesome and will be getting wrapped within the next few days. It’s along the same lines as our layout and looks cool as hell. We feel this video is the equivalent of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” but with way less fog. Holla”

To date, Bury Your Dead’s “Beauty and the Breakdown” has sold a respectable 10,745 copies in the 2 weeks since its release.

Drummer Mark Castillo compliments with, “Thank you to everyone who went out and actually bought the new record. We appreciate it and without all of your support we wouldn't be 129th best seller in the country an on the Billboard Top 200 Chart. Thank you. “

More News On Possibility Of New Ozzy Albums

Former BLACK SABBATH frontman OZZY OSBOURNE is working on two new albums and the first one could be ready by February.

"I don't want to release an album if it's not a great album," the 1970s heavy metal pioneer said in an interview in New York on Friday, declining to give many details about the album.

"I primarily write an album for myself, and if the world likes it, great," he said. "I'm just hoping that I can get a good couple of albums out."

Osbourne was cautious about when the album would be ready, but his wife, Sharon, who is also his manager, said "hopefully" it would released in February.

The self-proclaimed "Prince of Darkness" said he was working on the two albums with guitarist ZAKK WYLDE, whose band BLACK LABEL SOCIETY is one of the main acts in Osbourne's annual hard-rock traveling festival, Ozzfest.

"I can't say anything about the songs," Osbourne said at an event in New York to launch a Hard Rock Cafe T-shirt to raise money for his wife's cancer charity.

Osbourne, a recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, said he was enjoying playing on the smaller second stage at Ozzfest this year because it allowed him to get closer to the audience.

"I look at the audience sometimes and I go 'Do they ever grow up and get older?"' he said, expressing some surprise at his enduring popularity with a whole new generation of fans.

"They come, they like it, and they bring their friends. It's weird," he said, adding: "I'm not complaining."
