God Among Insects Issues Update
Sweden's GOD AMONG INSECTS check in with the following update:
"We have absolutely nothing to report so we report just that. No new songs are being written since we won't record a new album before VOMITORY's finished their next one. Some tunes are finished though, demoed and stored away safely. We'll dig them up when the time comes.
In the meantime we'll just do some gigs as they come up and bring some awesome death metal to the people."

Kazaa Settles With Music Industry For 100 Million
The following article was originally posted over at MTV.com:
Kazaa has become the latest rogue downloading service to settle with the music industry.
The Recording Industry Association of America announced on Thursday (July 27) that the peer-to-peer network reached an out-of-court settlement with the major music companies to settle international litigation against the operators of Kazaa brought in the U.S. and Australia.
Kazaa's owner, Sharman Networks, has agreed to pay the world's four major record companies — the EMI Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group — more than $100 million, according to a spokesperson for the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, which brought the action along with the RIAA. Under the terms of the settlement, Kazaa will also introduce filtering technology that will ensure it doesn't distribute copyright-infringing music or movie files in the future.
"This is welcome news for the music community and the legal online music marketplace," said RIAA Chairman and CEO Mitch Bainwol in a statement. "Steadily but surely, we are passing another important marker on the remarkable journey that is the continuing transformation and development of the digital marketplace."
The Motion Picture Association of America announced simultaneously that it has also settled litigation against Kazaa owner Sharman, whose FastTrack network it had previously called the "leading unlawful peer-to-peer file-trading" system.
Since the Supreme Court ruled against peer-to-peer networks Grokster and Streamcast in 2005, saying that companies that promote copyright infringement can be held liable, the days of rogue P2P systems appeared to be numbered. In addition to Grokster going legit, over the past year such services as iMesh and Bearshare have settled with the RIAA, as have other services in Taiwan and Korea.
"A little more than a year ago, the U.S. Supreme Court struck a wise balance between protecting innovation and the rights of creators," Bainwol said. "This meaningful decision has helped bring legal and moral clarity to the marketplace. Services based on theft are going legit or going under, and a legal marketplace is showing real promise."
Last year, the Federal Court of Australia found Kazaa's operators guilty of authorizing widespread copyright infringement. At its peak, Kazaa, one of the most popular P2P networks, had 4.2 million simultaneous users worldwide, according to the RIAA statement. In May 2003, Sharman declared Kazaa the most downloaded software ever, at 239 million downloads.

Heaven Shall Burn Post New Song Online
A brand new HEAVEN SHALL BURN track, entitled "Stay the Course", has been posted online at Lambgoat.com. The song comes off the German band's new album, "Deaf to Our Prayers", due on September 5 via Century Media Records.
The recording of "Deaf to Our Prayers" was once again done at Rape Of Harmonies Studios in beautiful Thüringen. "Patrick W. Engel and Ralf Müller have added their share another time and we cannot picture working on an album without them," the band said.
For the first time, HEAVEN SHALL BURN used Jacob Hansen and his Hansen Studios in Denmark for the mix. "We had a great time in Ribe, the oldest city in Denmark, and worked extremely hard on getting the maximum out of the new songs. Right from the beginning of the writing process we had the vision to record a raw and direct album. I think 'Deaf To Our Prayers' is a lot more brutal than 'Antigone' while still having some mid-tempo passages. Simply 100% HSB!" More...

"All that aside, Jamie King is a crucial dude, the atmosphere he creates makes for a fucking unforgettable experience! We've all had a blast being out here the past three weeks making friends and making the most devastating material we have done to date. The only negative thing I can say about this whole experience: Fuck the mosquitos!!! See you all on the road!"
YEAR OF DESOLATION will hit the road with CERBERUS and FOREVER IN TERROR on the "Cultivating The Masses" U.S. tour upon returning to Indianapolis. The band will then hit the road with label mates BURN IN SILENCE this fall. Dates for that run will be available shortly. More...
Rob Zombie Writing Songs For 'El Superbeasto'
ROB ZOMBIE has told AOL Music that fans won't have to wait for his next studio album to hear new music. "Our in-between record will be the soundtrack for the animated movie I'm doing, 'The Haunted World of El Superbeasto'," he said. "That'll be in theaters in 2007, and we're writing songs for that right now."
Zombie, who produced and wrote the movie, said he hopes to take "El Superbeasto" from comic book to animated film to live action: "I want to eventually turn it into a live-action feature," he said. "But in order to be live action it'd be a big budget, so I wanted to make it animated first." The movie is set to be directed by 'SpongeBob SquarePants' writer and contributing voice Doug "Mr." Lawrence, who, like Zombie, knows a little something about animation.

Ousted "Rock Star" Finalist Slams Supernova Single
Ousted 'Rock Star: Supernova' finalist Jenny Galt has told Tara Merrin of the Edmonton Sun that the 'Rock Star' contestants are not impressed with Supernova's debut single. "A lot of people in the group are skeptical about what kind of music they're playing," says the 29-year-old Montreal-born pop-rocker now based in Vancouver. "(Supernova) say they want to do something fresh and new, but then the first track we got to hear, a lot of people were just like, 'Ew. I'm not sure if I like this.' It sounded just like that same old, boys rock 'n' roll kind of glam thing they said they weren't going to be doing. It was a bit surprising."
