Belphegor Sign With Nuclear Blast Records

Austrian death metallers BELPHEGOR have inked a del with Nuclear Blast Records.

Commented vocalist/guitarist Helmuth: "BELPHEGOR are proud to have found a new partner with Nuclear Blast for our upcoming album. Over eleven months we've been working on 'Pestapokalypse VI'. Deceased Guitarist Steps Down From Touring

Virginia-based old-school thrash metallers DECEASED have posted the following message on their official web site:

"After 16 years with the band, Mike Smith [guitar] has made the decision to step down from playing shows with us. He will continue to be an active member of DECEASED in other areas, though, writing songs and recording. He is still committed to the band 100%. However, increased responsibilities with his job and raising a family have brought about this difficult decision.

"Mike's live replacement will be Shane Fuegel (BIONIC MAN, DRUGS OF FAITH), a longtime local friend of the band and a great guitarist. Really, we can't think of anyone better for the job than Shane. Mike's last live shows with DECEASED will be Saturday July 22nd in Parma, Ohio and Saturday July 29th at CBGB's in NYC.

"We will miss Mike's presence with us on stage, but realize that things change in life and ultimately, you have to do what's best for yourself. The weird travel on..." More...

THE HUMAN ABSTRACT initially caught the attention of Hopeless Records after recording a two-song demo and hitting the local venues with a relentless do-it-yourself attitude and intense and unbridled live shows. Influenced by American and European metal, the band draws inspiration from progressive and classical music creating an extremely creative style that is as much technical as it is powerful.

Tiamat New Album Out Soon

TIAMAT frontman Johan Edlund has posted the following message on his official MySpace page:

"Lots of people are asking us what we're up to and when they can expect a new TIAMAT album or at least a LUCYFIRE [Johan's other project] album... The answer to you all is: soon!

"Honestly, we're working on new TIAMAT songs at the moment and the plan is to have a three or four song demo ready within the next couple of weeks. With this demo we're gonna try to fool some cash off a record company and then we're pretty much set for recording a new album! I'd hate myself if we wouldn't at least start recording the damn thing this year! The release date we'll have to leave to the sharks! I've got some new LUCYFIRE songs written aswell. Anybody wanna release the disaster, let me know (aka send me a check)!!!

"Yep, we are alive! If you still doubt us, get your ass over to Ukraine the 13th of August and we'll prove it!"

Subsonic To Film New Video

SUBSONIC, the solo project of former CELTIC FROST guitarist Ron Marks, will shoot a new video in Chicago between July 28 and August 3. The video will once again be directed by Jason Meudt. No further details are currently available.

In other news, Marks recently posted the following message on his MySpace page:

"I've just returned from a great trip to South Africa which was not only an incredible experience personally, but also inspirational from an artistic standpoint as well. There's no way someone could visit there and not feel its impact. There's a wildness and a freedom about Africa which doesn't exist anyplace else I've been. It revealed just how controlling and paranoid life in the U.S. has become and how that can envelop even a self-proclaimed individual like myself. Musically speaking, this trip couldn't have come at a better time and I'm looking at the next SUBSONIC release through new eyes. Back into the studio I go with a fresh kick in the ass. Can't be bad..." More...

Into Eternity Reveal New Album Title

Regina, Saskatchewan-based progressive metallers INTO ETERNITY have set "The Scattering of Ashes" as the title of their new album, due this fall via Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2004's "Buried in Oblivion" was recorded at Touchwood Studios in Regina and was mixed by Andy Sneap (NEVERMORE, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY).

Regarding the direction of the new material, guitarist/vocalist Tim Roth had previously stated, "So far, I think it is a mix between 'Dead Or Dreaming' and 'Buried In Oblivion'. For this album we kept some things a bit more stripped down. Now we won't have five vocal harmonies going at once. The band decided that we want to sound more like we do live, so we stuck to two-part vocal harmonies. It still sounds killer though and I'm sure people will dig the new melodies. Stu [Block] did a great job singing on this album. He has five different voices that he can change back and forth from. Wait to you hear some of the notes he hits!"

INTO ETERNITY's new CD will mark the group's first release with Block, who was previously a member of Vancouver's OMEGA CROM. The band's third album, "Buried in Oblivion", was released in February 2004 through Century Media Records.

Check out pictures of INTO ETERNITY recording "The Scattering of Ashes" at Touchwood Studios at this location.

Lustmord Joins Hydra Head Roster

Hydra Head Records has officially added Brian "Lustmord" Williams to their roster. According to the label, "if you don't know who Lustmord is, it's time to do some research... The first release will be a limited CD containing a lengthy track made in conjunction with Melvins' Buzz Osborne.
