Soilwork Explain Aggressive Fest Cancellation
SOILWORK vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid has posted the following message on the group's official web site:
"Maybe some of you guys have seen on Blabbermouth that we've cancelled the show on 'Aggressive Music Festival' in Glen Falls, NY. It came to our knowledge yesterday that our drummer Dirk Verbeuren can't make it to the show since he's playing a festival in Finland (Tuska Open Air) with his other band SCARVE and somehow his flight got cancelled and there was no other flights available that day … This really sucks and we really want to appologize for this, especially for such short notice..
"Mr. David Witte (ex-BURNT BY THE SUN etc.) will fill in for Dirk on the first show on Ozzfest. We're rehearsing right now and he's really doing an awesome job…
"We'll see you in Boston on Friday!!"
As previously reported, New Jersey's GOD FORBID will be taking the place of SOILWORK at the second annual Aggressive Music Festival, set to take place on Saturday, July 16 at the Glens Falls Civic Center in Glen Falls, NY.
SOILWORK are currently promoting their latest CD, "Stabbing the Drama", available now on Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Figure Number Five" was recorded at Fascination Street studios in Örebro and Dug-Out Productions in Uppsala, Sweden with producer Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES, STUCK MOJO).
Waylander Stage Mini-Reunion At Day of Darkness
Long-running Celtic metal act WAYLANDER were reunited with former band member and editor of Ireland's Metalworks magazine, Martin MacCormaic, for a memorable set at the fourth installment of Ireland's Day of Darkness festival on July 9. MacCormaic, who left WAYLANDER in 2002, took to the stage to attend to tin-whistle duty as the band performed in front of a frenzied crowd. Also performing at the festival were doom titans MOURNING BELOVETH, whose powerful performance on the day included tracks from the band's recently released third album, "A Murderous Circus". The festival was headlined by black metal legends ROTTING CHRIST. The four-piece celebrated their first-ever performance on Irish soil and delivered a rousing performance that served as a fitting end to the days proceedings.
The full lineup for the one-day event was: ROTTING CHRIST, DESASTER, MOURNING BELOVETH, SCAVENGER, WAYLANDER, CARNUN RISING, PRIMAL DAWN, DEVILMAKESTHREE, WRECK OF THE HESPERUS and GROUND OF RUIN. Photos of the event can be seen at dayofdarkness.com.

Single Bullet Theory Album Update, Seeks Drummer
Guitarist Matt DiFabio of Single Bullet Theory has sent out the following message to all fans, and those wondering what the band has been up to in recent weeks - an open appeal has also been issued as the band continues to hunt for a permanent drummer:
"Just wanted to send out an update on what's up with SBT as of late. We are in pre-production for our next yet to be titled release. We have thirteen brand new songs written and are currently in arrangement mode. Thank god for the line 6 rifftracker, the best writing tool I have ever come across."
"All I can say is that this cd is by far our best work to date. With every record, sbt expands our dynamics and I can 100% say that this cd will be no exception. The heavy shit is still very present but there are "hooks" that are infectious."
"The addition of Dan Loughry on guitar has been a breathe of fresh air and his input will without a doubt be a blessing on this next cd. The dude is a monster player and prolly the cleanist rhythm player that i have seen."
"We are still looking for a permanent drummer who can tour. We are working with John Sasso (original sbt drummer on Route 666) as well as Jason Dunkerly (studio drummer who played on behind eyes of hatred) but neither of them can commit to doing this on a full time basis. So, if anyone out there wants a shot, get in touch. thebullettheory@aol.com. Those who live near Philadelphia will be more openly considered. " More...

Rob Zombie Comments On Playing The Second Stage
Launch Radio Networks reports: As Ozzfest 2005 kicks off today in Mansfield, Massachusetts, former main stage performer ROB ZOMBIE will headline the festival's second stage for the first time. Zombie told Launch that getting close to the fans on the smaller second stage has been on his mind for a while. "That's been something I've wanted to do for like — I remember I first mentioned that about three years ago to Ozzy, and he thought it was a crazy idea and he kept begging me not to do it," he said. "Even this year, they tried to get me back on the main stage, but I didn't want to do it. Ozzfest is a fun vibe, but you always feel like the second stage is having all the fun, 'cause main stage is a very uptight situation. Basically, you know, if I'm gonna do it, I want it to be fun."
Zombie's touring band this summer features former MARILYN MANSON guitarist John 5, longtime bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson and ex-ALICE COOPER drummer Tommy Clufetos.
The Ozzfest 2005 lineup also includes BLACK SABBATH, IRON MAIDEN, MUDVAYNE and, on the last eight dates, VELVET REVOLVER.
Zombie isn't supporting a new album this summer, but he is promoting his second effort as a screenwriter and director. His highly anticipated horror movie, "The Devil's Rejects", arrives in theatres on July 22.
