Razor Crusade Call It Quits

Hardcore/rock outfit Razor Crusade have now disbanded. Vocalist Ivo Jansen "suffers from too many problems with his voice" and has been forced to step down to avoid permanent damage. Rather than replace their singer (as they did in 2003) the group chose to call it quits. During the past three years, Razor Crusade has released material with Deathwish Inc. and Relfections Records.

Nonpoint Ready Fourth Album

Ft. Lauderdale-based NONPOINT have set "To the Pain" as the title of their fourth album, due on November 8 via Bieler Bros./ Lava. The group's drummer, Robb Rivera, recently had the following to say about the songwriting process for the new CD: "As far as the new record, shit is coming along greatly. Painful but great. It is not easy to write a new record. We have at least 15 songs with plans to write more in the next month. This month we are going to finetune them and fix them up real good. Stuff has a 'Statement' vibe in the sense that all the songs have their own identity. We will be in the Northeast once the new record is done and over. We will throw again for all of you live."

Municipal Waste Finish Album, Post MP3 Online

Richmond thrash-core kings Municipal Waste have finished work on their debut album for Earache. Entitled 'Hazardous Mutation', The Waste's new album was recorded in the band's hometown of Richmond, Virginia, by Corey Smoot (aka Flattus of Gwar). 'We are very excited about this record and we feel its by far our best material to date,' states frontman Tony Foresta.

'Hazardous Mutation' features the debut of new drummer Dave Witte (Burnt By The Sun, Discordance Axis), and is highly recommended for fans of 'crossover', particularly old DRI. (Also recommended for fans of beer bongs, Ocean Pacific couture, and wizards.) 'Hazardous Mutation' features cover art by the one and only master of all thrash artwork, Ed Repka, best known for his work for Megadeth.

'Hazardous Mutation' hits US stores Sept 20 (Aug 29 in the UK/Europe). In the meantime, you can check out an advance mp3 here and look out for The Waste on tour -- they're currently wrapping up an East Coast US tour with Coliseum but they'll be hitting the road again and again in 05 to spread the 'Mutation' across the globe.

Cradle Of Filth Have Seven Songs Finished

CRADLE OF FILTH frontman Dani Filth has posted the following message on the band's official website:

"Dear blood-feeders and readers,

Just a quick plunge into the darkness that is the C.O.F schedule of late, to let everybody know that the 'Viva La Bam' filming week near Philadelphia last month seems to have been a complete success, with a televised date of mid, to end of July in the U.S and then, (working on the premise that the show is then broadcast in Europe several weeks/months later), we are expecting an Autumnal airing of the show featuring none other than yours truly and his band of very merry men.

As an experience it was a great one, we became friends with Bam on the last American tour when he came out to see us on the road and so it was with high expectancy of partying for a week that Guitarist Paul A. and myself flew out early for me to film the first part of the show with Bam and his usual crew of miscreants. Not to give too much away, but we definitely pissed off his Uncle when we decided to rip a new......... ah, for the sake of the plot and a massive lawsuit pending on behalf on MTV i must refrain from saying any more at present! Sounds Of The Underground Pictures In Gallery Now

I recently had the chance to attend the Sounds of The Underground tour when it made it's devistating stop into Philadelphia at the Festival Pier. I arrived later then expected, left earlier then expected due to illness and missed another band or two interviewing Poison The Well (the interview will be posted in the next day or two). I also left my batteries for my camera in my car and security wouldn't allow me to re-enter so I had to use my camera sparingly. However, I got the chance to get some amazing pictures of Gwar, Unearth, Chimaira and Opeth and they are now available in our gallery section. You can view the photos in the gallery section.

Callenish Circle Begin Recording Vocals

Callenish Circle has checked in with this studio update:

Studio report take V : vocal recordings (by Pat) !
At last it was my turn in studio. On day 1 we started with the song ‘Sweet Cyanide’. This one is most in line with the faster songs on MP//YP, containing a very catchy chorus. Next up was ‘This Day You Regret’. Since this will be the opening song it needed some extra attention. Gail (producer) and I worked out some really great vocal lines and experimented with different vocals styles and cool effects. On the 2nd day we recorded ‘As You Speak’, ‘Blind’ and ‘Behind Lines’. Even though it was a very long recording day everything went pretty smooth. Now I had a couple of days off. A very welcome break cause after 2 days of intense recordings my vocal cords got slightly irritated and needed some rest. On day 3 we started with ‘Guess Again’ and this turned out to be the most intense, extreme and over the top vocals I ever recorded. Luckily the other song that day was less intense cause I am not sure if I would have succeeded to record another song in the vein of ‘Guess Again’. For \'Black Sear\' I only had to record the couplets since the choruses will be sung by Kaleen (Gail of God). Again a few days rest and again a welcome break cause one of the last songs I needed to record was only finished during the last few rehearsals and even partly in the studio. So also the vocal lines for this song still needed to be worked out for the biggest part. Nevertheless ‘Ignorant’ turned out to be a killer song. Last song in the schedule of day 4 was ‘Self-Inflicted’, by far the slowest song on the album. All in all I can say I am extremely satisfied with the vocal recordings and also the cooperation with producer Gail went absolutely great. We really worked out some amazing vocal lines and also experimented a lot with different vocal styles (no clean vocals, don’t worry!!!) and great sound effects. Gail definitely has some great ideas when it comes to recording vocals. Next week Ron and Gail will head to Denmark to mix the album with Tue Madsen at his already legendary Antfarm Studio.

God Forbid: New Album "Sounds Massive"

God Forbid guitarist Doc Coyle has posted this update on the band's official website:

What's up friends,
The recording process for the new God Forbid album, "IV:Constitution of Treason" , is finally complete. This record sounds massive, and is definitely our most dynamic, complex, and diverse effort to date. It clocks in around 50 minutes which would make it our longest album, and will hopefully make up for some of the people who thought "Gone Forever" was too short. I don't want to hype it up by telling everyone how great it is. I'd rather wait until some clips are released through the internet or cd samplers, and let the music speak for itself. I can say that band is very satistfied with the work we've done, and feel like another plateau has been reached as musicians. Lyrically, the album is very deep and dark. In fact, "Constitution" has become a full on concept album with a story included about a post apocalyptic society. This story and it's themes intertwines heavily with the artwork handled wonderfully again by Travis Smith who did the design work for "Gone Forever" and the "Better Days" EP. With the exception of a some weekend tour dates in July, God Forbid will be taking the rest of the summer off, for our first real break in a year and a half. Our next US tour should be expected near the album's release date, Sept 20th, and a European tour should follow. We've also taken some steps in the next frontier. That's right playing some shows on M-A-R-S. Mars Bitches. See y'all at the beach. Peace.
Doc God Forbid

Iron Maiden Play Fund-Raising Gig For Clive Burr

In 2002 the members of Iron Maiden were shocked to learn that their former drummer, Clive Burr, was suffering from MS. They played three nights in March at Brixton Academy in his honour, donating the £250,000 plus profits from the concerts and merchandising into a newly formed Clive Burr Multiple Sclerosis Trust Fund. The fund also received generous donations from the record company EMI and publisher BMG Music from the commercial single releases of "Run To The Hills" and "Number of The Beast" (which leapt into the UK charts at No 3 earlier this year). There were kind donations from all over the world of Heavy Metal, and tremendous support from the fans through numerous fund raising initiatives and very generous individual contributions.

Three years on, the money raised has helped enormously to provide treatment and support and to improve the quality of Clive’s life. For example: the Trust has helped Clive to secure his house, funded specialist treatments in this country and with experts in Europe and the USA, has provided specialised equipment, assisted with transport and travel and helped Clive with his living expenses.

The Trust was also able to help some other MS sufferers who have long standing connections with the band by assisting with the provision of vehicles specially adapted to carry wheelchairs.

The Clive Burr MS Fund needs replenishing if it is to continue to ease and improve the quality of Clive’s life, and others. To help do this, Iron Maiden will stage a very special benefit performance at Hammersmith Odeon on Friday 2nd September. The show, featuring songs from their first four albums (Iron Maiden, Killers, The Number Of The Beast and Piece of Mind) will by then have toured Europe and North America playing to almost one million delighted fans and this will be the final date of the tour and the very last time some of the songs in the set will played live by the band.

All the profits from the show and the Merchandising will be donated to the Trust and can then lift the fund back into action. All tickets will be £40 - and there will be no comps - not even for band families or management!!

Manager, Rod Smallwood commented:

We think our fans will fully understand the need to charge a slightly higher price for this special gig - there are many things the Trust needs to do such as modifications to Clive’s house to improve wheelchair access that would make Clive more comfortable. We were really pleased that Hammersmith Apollo was available as the band have a lot of history there and great memories. It’s a terrific venue to play from a fan’s perspective and will be huge contrast from our Headline appearance at the massive Reading Festival on Sunday 28th August. We just hope they will reopen the old backstage bar! The first time we played Hammersmith Odeon (as it was previously known) was on 14th March 1980 supporting Judas Priest just before the first album came out. The first headline appearance was during the ‘Killers’ tour in 1981, and of course Clive was with us on those occasions. In total we have played there 21 times including a succession of 5 sold out shows during the 1988 ‘Seventh Tour of A Seventh Tour’ as an addition to the arena tour for that album. So it’s a very appropriate place to play a gig for Clive and to end a tour based on our first four albums.

Tickets, priced £40 will be offered to current fan club members first, and a special application form has today been sent by post directly to all members of the official Fan Club, Iron Maiden FC. Any remaining tickets will then go on sale to the public Monday 1st August through normal box office channels. Due to the large number of members of Iron Maiden FC to be fair we are limiting it to 2 tickets only per member on a first-come first-served basis.
