Chevelle: 'Irreconcilable Differences' w/ Bassist

CHEVELLE have issued a statement officially confirming the departure of bassist Joe Loeffler. The band had previously posted a message on their web site claiming that Joe had decided to "take a break to be home with family" while they head out on the road with 30 SECONDS TO MARS and TAPROOT. In their latest statement, CHEVELLE write, "We've spent 10 great years building CHEVELLE, but irreconcilable differences have led to an unfortunate parting of ways between Joe and the band. CHEVELLE will return to the road for a string of summer shows, to be followed by writing sessions for a new album. Thanks to all of our fans, friends and family for their continued love and support. We look forward to seeing all of you on tour. Adds Joe Loeffler, 'This will be positive for me and my brothers. I'm looking forward to all of the new opportunities this will make available to me.'"

The statement is signed by Joe Loeffler, along with his brothers, CHEVELLE singer and guitarist Pete Loeffler and drummer Sam Loeffler.

Joe Loeffler lashed out at his brothers in a posting on the band's web site last week, saying, "I was fired, plain and simple; in fact, there wasn't even a discussion about it — they just dropped it on me."

CHEVELLE have recruited former FILTER guitarist Geno Lenardo to take over on bass for the band's tour, which began on Saturday (July 9).

Shattered Realm Finish Recording New Album

Shattered Realm has been in the studio as of late recording a new album. The group has essentially finished tracking and will mix the effort tomorrow. The album, which hasn't yet been titled, was recorded at Landmine Sound and will feature artwork by Pete Salepas and Ian Rowan. The material will consist of twelve new songs in addition to a song from the group's first EP, which has been reworked and re-recorded. Lambgoat spoke with guitarist/vocalist Joe None this afternoon about the recording process:

"It's going awesome. We have been having the most fun of anytime we have ever been in the studio. There is a place down the street that has deep fried hot dogs, which I've never heard of. so basically this album is going to be powered by deep fried hotdogs. We had Jon Blake from On Broken Wings come down to do some guest vocals on a track and it's amazing. We also have our original singer Chris coming in. We wanted to do something seldom done; have our old singer appear on the new record. I think it's a cool idea and also shows everyone that we are still friends... kids always wonder what happens to ex-band members."

Look for the album to hit stores in November via Eulogy Recordings.

Slipknot Plan Live Album, More US Tour Dates

Multi-Platinum rockers, SLIPKNOT, are enjoying the spoils of their hard-won success. The band are still on the road and promoting their record that came out over a year ago while simultaneously readying a live album for release in October of 2005.

The band’s third album debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 on May 31, 2004 after its May 25th release. The album, entitled VOL. 3: (THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES), has been hanging in the Top 200 ever since that release, marking over one full year of chart success.

The album’s third single “Before I Forget” is the band’s third Top 10 rock single. The video for the track premiered on MTV2’s Headbangers Ball this weekend and it can also be seen on Fuse on Rockzilla, Metal Asylum, Uranium and Ovenfresh. This follows the success of the album’s previous hits – "Duality” and “Vermilion.”

October 2005 will see the release of the band’s first live album (title TBD). The album promises to convey the excitement of SLIPKNOT’s unparalleled live sets. In the spirit of this release, SLIPKNOT are due back in the USA in the fall of 2005 for another round of successful American touring. Dates are scheduled between 10/15 – 11/15 thus far.

Tomas Lindberg Leaves Nightrage

Nightrage has left this message on their official website:

Hi Boys and Girls.

The last months it has been a lot of activety without you guys knowing it. A lot of stuff is going on in the future and we aim to take Nightrage to a new level. This take a lot of effort and time so it has brought us both some good, and some bad news.

The bad news first. Tomas has decided to leave us and here is his statement:

"Dear fans of Nightrage and metal in general, I´m sad to announce my departure from the mighty Nightrage. This is a band i joined some time ago to help my friend Marios out. But over the course of time I´ve grown deeply fond of being a part of this extraordinary band. But as you might know I´m a busy soul and have no other option that to give up one of my projects, only becuase of lack of time. My only comfort is that Nightrage now can continue at full speed without me holding them back. But i will continue to follow their career, cause i have great expectations for the future of this band. Hail Marios! Hail Nightrage."

But this metal machinery got to keep on moving and the good news is that we have found a new killer singer, Jimmie Strimell (picture) and he will blow your mind. We have started to rehearse some songs and he has added a lot to the songs with his voice and charisma. Here is his statement:

"Hello all you Nightrage fans out there. This is Jimmie the new singer, I just want to tell you that I am so happy to join Nightrage and it"s a big honour to take over after Tomas. I promise you guys that I will do the songs justice and you will not be dissapointed. Stay metal and have patience, cause soon we will come and rock your town."

Nightrage has never been a project, and we will soon be out there to show you what we are all about. With this new line up Nightrage will play live, A LOT. So stay tuned about upcoming tours.

Also we have printed our first T-shirts. You can find all info about them at www.nightrage.com/shirts.

Yours in metal
/ Nightrage
