Filmmaker, Postmodern Philsophy Inspire Sculptured

Don Anderson is hard at work writing the third full-length, as yet untitled Sculptured album. So far he has about half the album written. The new material is further developing the musical language initiated with "Apollo Ends."

Anderson says regarding the new songs, "I am really forcing myself to look at the guitar neck in a whole new manner. By using matrices I have to write most of the music out first and then learn it. It has been a real challenge because I can't rely on melodic patterns that have been ingrained into my hand for years. I am exploring new patterns and working with stacking chords together into 'blocks of sound.' I am really pleased with the new material." So far titles include "The Shape Of Rage," "Bodies Without Organs," "Becoming Something Other Than Death," "Help, I've Swallowed My Teeth" and an untitled song currently being composed. The themes of the third full-length are inspired by filmmaker David Cronenberg's "body horror" films and postmodern philosophy. This is music for BRAVE NEW EARS. Thanks for everyone's patience and support!”

Devildriver's Sophomore Album Charts at #117

The Fury of Our Maker’s Hand, the sophomore album from DevilDriver has debuted at No. 1 on the Heatseeker’s chart with 10,353 albums sold. Called a “mad masterpiece” by Revolver Magazine, the album also debuted at No. 117 on the Top 200 album charts and No. 17 on the Top Hard Rock chart. Says singer Dez Fafara, “we’re really excited about this album. We’re out here working, touring non-stop and we appreciate the fans support.” Currently the band is on the inaugural Sounds of the Underground Tour with Chimaira, Opeth, Lamb of God and others.

The follow up to 2003’s self-titled debut, The Fury of Our Maker’s Hand is a powerful return for DevilDriver. Featuring twelve blistering tracks that dabble in black, thrash, traditional and death metal, The Fury of Our Maker’s Hand is DevilDriver at their best. The album soared to No. 1 on the Metal/College Radio and Specialty charts while the video for the single “Hold Back The Day” has received repeated spins on MTV2 and FUSE. “This album was a labor of love for us,” says Fafara. “We came together as a cohesive unit and created the strongest albums I’ve been a part of. We didn’t worry about what we should sound like, just what we wanted to sound like.” For the creation of the album every member strapped on a guitar, plugged in and wrote the album riff by riff, together. Through those sessions, songs such as “End of the Line,” “Sin and Sacrifice” and “Driving Down the Darkness” poured out.

Ex-Helloween Frontman To Guest On Edguy Album

Edguy's upcoming EP "Superheroes," due on September 5, will feature a special guest appearance by former Helloween frontman Michael Kiske.

Edguy singer Tobias Sammet comments:

One of the tracks is a bombastic uptempo epic that's reminiscent of a mixture of heavy Queen, Richard Wagner and Avantasia. So it was a MUST to ask Michael Kiske to do some guest vocals. To me, music is about goose bumps, and I had a lot when listening to Michi! To make it fair, we have decided that the CD shall be out in stores for the price of a CD single only! So make sure you persuade your friends that they buy it and don't copy it, maybe quality and value for money could be a promising kind of 'copy-protection!

The "Superheroes" DVD — also due on September 5 — will contain the brand new video clip 'Superheroes', a couple of songs filmed live in Brazil, plenty of "behind-the-scenes" footage, a slide show, an extensive studio report with interviews and a chance to follow Edguy backstage. "Our fans will love the fun part of it and I'm sure to them it's a classic," states Sammet. "And I am sure Edguy haters will hate us even more and will think we are a bunch of wanna-be-funny-gay-idiots."

The DVD will have a running time of approximately 80 minutes and will be available for the price of a DVD-single as well.

Scott Ian Issues Anthrax Tour Report

Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian has posted the following message on the group's official web site:

"I'm sitting in a cafe in Zagreb drinking really strong coffee and watching some guy with the greatest mullet I have ever seen. It's magnificent! The anti-mullet forces have not reached this far yet. Thank God! And he's got a Ditka moustache! I would try and take a picture but he's a shady character. Every ten minutes or so, young women who look to be of the world’s oldest profession, or whores as they like to be called, come in and talk to him. He hands them pieces of paper and they leave. Croatian pimps need to watch some rap videos for lessons in bling. This guy looks like the guy you'd buy a hot dog from outside Wrigley. More...

Into Eternity Explain Show Cancellations

Into Eternity guitarist, Tim Roth, has issued the following tour report:

Hi everyone!

We are in Regina for 1 more day. Our Sunday show in Regina was cancelled by the promoter. We contacted him for us and Krisiun to play, but he wasn't interested. Our Edmonton and Calgary shows are also cancelled by a different promoter, who is a good friend. He couldn't take a risk either with just 2 bands. Hate Eternal have had some van problems, so they have been cancelling some gigs. That in turn sort of messes up this tour. We are sorry to everyone who has been traveling to see us. You all RULE!

Our next shows are in Prince George and Vancouver....July 6th and 7th. Then we head into the USA again to continue the tour. Incantation will meet us in Seattle for sure! We hope that Hate Eternal will be as well. I'm sure they will make it and we all have faith.

The tour as of now has us opening again. All Shall Perish have gone home and they were doing that slot. They might make it to the California dates though.

I think that's all the news we have now. The tour has been going well for us (see tourdiary!). Krisiun is sitting in my livingroom right now hanging out, so I better get back to the lounging.

Thanks to everyone for coming out to our shows. It's great to meet everyone.

keep it metal!
TIM

AOL Launches "All Metallica" Station

By popular request, the #1 AOL Radio Network* today announced that it has added the All Metallica station to its lineup of best-of breed programming offerings and exclusive All Artist stations. Now available, the station boasts a playlist of every song ever released by one of the world’s best and most influential hard rock bands.

Metallica’s Kirk Hammett said, “This great station gives our fans an opportunity to hear songs that they don’t usually hear on the radio, like obscure B-sides, live stuff from our last tour, and other deep album cuts. After all, there’s more to Metalli-life than ‘Enter Sandman’!”

Adding to an array of Artist spotlight stations, including All Led Zepplin, All Ozzy, All Green Day, All Ramones, All Pearl Jam, All Yes and many others, All Metallica also features rare, live tracks from the band’s 2004 “Madly in Anger with the World Tour.” Fans will be able to link to purchase those tracks from livemetallica.com, directly from the AOL Radio player.

"Metallica is one of the most revered Rock bands the world has ever known, and AOL Radio's All Metallica is truly a station that our audience demanded," said Jack Isquith, Executive Director of Record Label Relations for AOL Music. "For the last two years, there has not been a week that we did not we receive multiple e-mails from our listeners requesting an All Metallica station. We have been thrilled to work so closely with the band to give the fans what they’ve been asking for. All Metallica comes just as we unveil AOL Radio for all fans free on the web, and we are tremendously excited for the world to hear the depth and passion for Rock that All Metallica, and AOL Radio, delivers."

The All Metallica station is the first network station launch since AOL Radio went live on the web last week, as part of the new AOL.com portal. The AOL Radio Network’s programming is now available 24/7 for non-AOL members and members alike at AOL.com and aolmusic.com. In addition to being found under the Artist Spotlight category on AOL Radio, Metallica fans can also access the 24/7 stream at metallica.com.
