New Disturbed Single "Stricken" Available Online

A DISTURBED media player, featuring the group's new single, "Stricken", can be accessed at this location.

"Stricken" is scheduled to go for radio adds around July 25. The song is the first single off the group's upcoming third album, "Ten Thousand Fists", due on September 20 via Reprise. The album features the debut of new bassist John Moyer (ex-THE UNION UNDERGROUND).

As previously reported, Todd McFarlane will be creating the album cover for "Ten Thousand Fists". Aside from creating the wildly popular comic book character Spawn, McFarlane also designed the album cover for KORN 's "Follow the Leader" as well as the video for "Freak on a Leash" and PEARL JAM 's "Do the Evolution".

DISTURBED recently made a song called "Guarded" from their upcoming third album available online at both the iTunes store and myspace.com/disturbedofficial. DISTURBED frontman David Draiman told Launch that "Guarded" was released to give fans a taste of the band's new effort. "'Guarded' was put out there to just whet everybody's appetite. It's one of the more aggressive tracks on the record, just to remind everybody where we came from and who we are. Kind of give back to the core a little bit. It's a song that reflects what choosing this life forces certain people to do in a certain way — you have to remain guarded on a certain level."

The album's title track has been tapped to appear in the next NFL Madden video game.

DISTURBED will begin a six-week North American tour with ILL NINO and 10 YEARS in early August. The band will also headline the Jagermeister Music Tour in November, followed by the Music As A Weapon III trek in 2006.

DISTURBED 's debut album, "The Sickness" (2000) has sold 3.4 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Blackest Of Black Tour Dates

The first dates have been announced for the 2005 "Blackest of the Black" tour, which will kick off in San Diego at the end of September and end on the West Coast on Halloween. Joining headliners DANZIG will be the crème de la crème of the hardcore/dark/black metal bands — CHIMAIRA, BEHEMOTH, HIMSA, MORTIIS and THE AGONY SCENE.

DANZIG's performance on all dates of the "Blackest of the Black" tour will feature former MISFITS' guitarist Doyle Von Frankenstein for a special 30-minute set of MISFITS classics. Doyle joined DANZIG on a handful of tour dates last winter (New York, Philadelphia, Boston) for "the closest thing to a MISFITS reunion you're going to see."

"'The Blackest of the Black' tour is for extreme bands that sell out venues across the country, that sell records, but don't get radio play or get on MTV," said Glenn Danzig. "It's anti the corporate crap nu-rap-metal that gets shoved down fans' throats at other concerts." The "Blackest of the Black" festival was organized by Danzig and debuted in the summer of 2003 with DANZIG, SUPERJOINT RITUAL, OPETH, NILE, LACUNA COIL and BEHEMOTH on the bill. "I'd like to see this being an on-going event," Danzig added.

Soulfly Picks First Single

SOULFLY fan site SoulflyWeb.com has posted the following update regarding the upcoming SOULFLY CD, "Dark Ages", due on October 4 via Roadrunner Records:

"Billy Milano of STORMTROOPERS OF DEATH [S.O.D.], who appears on 'Molotov', originally had a conflicting schedule with SOULFLY, and because the band could not wait for him, Max [Cavalera, SOULFLY mainman] called Billy and his piece was recorded via cellular phone. Also appearing on the album will be various noise and ambience that was recorded by Max using a mini-disc recorder on the streets of Turkey. And finally, 'Riot Starter', the tenth track on 'Dark Ages', was apparently originally written and recorded for SOULFLY's debut release in 1997 but wasn't used and was re-recorded for this release. It has also been made known that SOULFLY's first single and video will be for 'Frontlines', a track they began debuting live nearly half a year ago. Portions of the video were filmed during the rehearsal for the band's July 13th gig in Warsaw, Poland, and it is expected that they will continue filming in Serbia with a Serbian director later this week."

Site Update

Introducing Negatyve_One, Now Vayne Theories

\m/ I am Negatyve One. (As per the Mudvayne Song) My name is Mark and I'm 21 years old from the middle of the United States. I'm a long-time visitor of this site (formerly Devildrivor) and I share a love for metal music. My favorite bands include classic Alice In Chains, Nothingface, Pantera, as well as alot of the new scene, Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, Dry Kill Logic, Bloodsimple, Devildriver, and of course Mudvayne to name a few. I also get into the bigger picture of metal scenes with bands like Heaven Shall Burn, Opeth, Dimension Zero, Meshuggah, and the likes.

Outside of metal, I work on a government contract at the local army base (Fort Sill) and I play poker semi-professionally. I've been married for nearly 2 years now and I have a little boy of 15 months named Zane.

My goals here being on the team now are to help others know more about the bands, and help people find new music that fits into what they like. Lets face it, there aren't a lot of metal sources out right now, sometimes a band's only way to your cd case is by word of mouth. Spreading the metal is what will keep it alive. \m/
