Clip Of New Disturbed Song Stricken Available

A 34-second sample of the new DISTURBED single, "Stricken", has been made available for streaming at this location (Real Media).

"Stricken" is scheduled to go for radio adds around July 25. The song is the first single off the group's upcoming third album, "Ten Thousand Fists", due on September 20 via Reprise. The album features the debut of new bassist John Moyer (ex-THE UNION UNDERGROUND).

As previously reported, Todd McFarlane will be creating the album cover for "Ten Thousand Fists". Aside from creating the wildly popular comic book character Spawn, McFarlane also designed the album cover for KORN 's "Follow the Leader" as well as the video for "Freak on a Leash" and PEARL JAM 's "Do the Evolution".

DISTURBED recently made a song called "Guarded" from their upcoming third album available online at both the iTunes store and myspace.com/disturbedofficial. DISTURBED frontman David Draiman told Launch that "Guarded" was released to give fans a taste of the band's new effort. "'Guarded' was put out there to just whet everybody's appetite. It's one of the more aggressive tracks on the record, just to remind everybody where we came from and who we are. Kind of give back to the core a little bit. It's a song that reflects what choosing this life forces certain people to do in a certain way — you have to remain guarded on a certain level."

The album's title track has been tapped to appear in the next NFL Madden video game.

DISTURBED will begin a six-week North American tour with ILL NINO and 10 YEARS in early August. The band will also headline the Jagermeister Music Tour in November, followed by the Music As A Weapon III trek in 2006.

DISTURBED 's debut album, "The Sickness" (2000) has sold 3,422,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

New Sevendust Song Clip Available Online

A 38-second audio sample of the new SEVENDUST single, entitled "Ugly", has been posted online at this location (Real Media).

"Ugly" is the first single off SEVENDUST's upcoming fifth album, "Next", due on October 11 via 7Bros./WineDark Records. The song, which is scheduled to go for radio adds on August 8, was described by drummer Morgan Rose in a recent MTV.com interview as a mixed bag with a "huge chorus, broken-down verses and really heavy bridges."

"Next" marks the recording debut with the band of new guitarist Sonny Mayo (ex-AMEN/SNOT). Mayo joined SEVENDUST earlier this year as the replacement for Clint Lowery, who left the group mid-tour in December, citing "personal issues." Lowery has since become a full-time member of DARK NEW DAY, the new "supergroup" also featuring Brett Hestla (ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT) on vocals, Will Hunt (ex-SKRAPE, TOMMY LEE) on drums, Clint's brother Corey Lowery (ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO) on bass, and Troy McLawhorn (ex-DOUBLE DRIVE) on guitar.

"Next" is the follow-up to "Seasons", which sold a respectable 68,000 copies in its first week of release back in October 2003 to land at position No. 14 on The Billboard 200.

WineDark Records is distributed in the U.S. by Fontana Distribution, a division of Universal Music and Video Distribution (UMVD). SEVENDUST's last four albums were issued through TVT Records.

Combatmusicradio.com (KMBT) Launched

Scott Kelly - a founding member of psychedelic hardcore band Neurosis - and Christopher Moeschl together have founded and launched Combatmusicradio.com, a new website born of a passion for heavy music and blood sports.

The first offering from Combatmusicradio.com (KMBT) is a weekly pre-recorded radio show called “The Show,” hosted by Kelly, focusing on past and present underground metal, punk, and noise, and news and interviews pertaining to blood sports. “The Show,” in addition to streaming, is available as a weekly podcast. The site also features written columns about music and blood sports.

“The goal of combatmusicradio.com is to create a platform where we can bring these two worlds together,” said Kelly.

A Reviews column deals exclusively with music-related items such as record reviews and live reviews, while the Blood Sports section offers news and reviews of events and athletes. Eugene Robinson, a practicing fighter who has been involved in the fight game for a number of years and has previously written for “Grappling” magazine pens the Damage Ink monthly column, focusing on NHB, mixed martial arts, and street fighting. Superjoint Ritual vocalist Phil Anselmo, an encyclopedia of boxing knowledge, is covering the sport for the site.

“Our ultimate goal with KMBT radio is too be streaming audio 24/7,” said Kelly. “We will also be looking for people who would like to contribute their own work to our programming.”

Chevelle Drummer Says Bassist Didn't Like Touring

Launch Radio Networks reports: CHEVELLE drummer Sam Loeffler called Launch from the road to set the record straight on why he and singer/guitarist Pete Loeffler parted ways with their brother, bassist Joe Loeffler, two weeks ago. "Joe didn't like to be in a touring band," Sam said. "It's not a secret to anyone in the industry or any fans that ever talked to him that he hated traveling. That was the biggest player in our decision. It was kind of a mutual decision, but it kind of wasn't, because he didn't want to do it, but he also didn't want to quit, and we were just kind of like, 'If you don't want to do it, you can't do it, because it's affecting us.'"

Sam Loeffler told Launch that the band knows the decision to part with Joe Loeffler has upset some of the trio's fans, but he hopes they'll be understanding. "Some people have written some pretty nasty stuff on the message board about us, and about what they think we've done, but nobody really knows because they weren't there," he said. "They got half the story or none of the story, for that matter. I guess we've kind of just asked people to bear with us, and hopefully things will work out in the end, we've just gotta give them time."

Sam Loeffler added that Joe Loeffler is not speaking with his brothers for now, but the band will not seek a permanent replacement at this point.

Former FILTER guitarist Geno Lenardo has assumed bass duties on CHEVELLE's current tour with TAPROOT and 30 SECONDS TO MARS. The tour hits Cleveland, Ohio tonight (Friday, July 15).
