FEAR FACTORY have reportedly selected "Supernova" as the first single from their upcoming album, "Transgression", due on August 23 via Calvin Records, an imprint of Liquid 8 Records. A 45-second audio sample of "Supernova", which features a guest appearance by former FAITH NO MORE bassist Billy Gould, is available at this location (Real Media).
FEAR FACTORY entered Track Record Studios in North Hollywood, California on May 5 with producer Toby Wright (ALICE IN CHAINS, KORN, SOULFLY) to begin recording the follow-up to last year's "Archetype". Included on "Transgression" is "New Promise", which was co-written with Mark Morton of LAMB OF GOD.
"Transgression" track listing:
01. 540,000 Degrees Fahrenheit
02. Transgression
03. Spinal Compression
04. Contagion
05. Empty Vision
06. Echo Of My Scream

eeek....
i...I mean.....uh...
hmmm,
Well it, uh...sounds good!...REALLY...the vocals are perfect!!
but....uh, thats not Fear Factory, at least not that song, their entitled to a ballad/moderate rock song though......
If anyone has earned it they have but, as a first single that kinda sends the wrong message to 10 + year fans...............I have to actually think about this a little more before I say the wrong things.....I still like FF, this doesnt change that....I think.......

That's NOT FF and I think it shouldn't be the first single of a new album, but I'm big fan of FF and I think they know what are they doing.Maybe other songs are better, beside don't every album have some songs that are not very FF like Ascension,Dog Day Sunrise....I hope this album will be succesfull.

Every FF album has a track like this and this one is good, I'm sure the rest of the album will have songs with Burton screaming and growling but this song is a nice change of pace. (and I am a huge FF fan) And this is FF just because there is one song that actually has more melody than screaming doesn't mean that they have changed or sold out.

I don't know what to make of the two clips that I have heard from Transgression (540,000 degrees fahrenheit and Supernova), but this does NOT sound like what I was expecting to hear from them. I liked Archetype a lot and I was hoping that they were once again leaning towards their heavier style, but I fear the worst...they have gotten soft. I hope that I'm wrong and that this cd kicks my ass, but from what I've heard...there's only one thing to say: What will become?

how can a band that claim to prgress and change with every album not be expected to do something like this ? especially how far in their career they are. but if you people were lucjky enuff to hear moment of impact mp3 thats posted online you wouldnt be dissing them, i guess fear factory want o move on and they want their true fans to follow, but you should have more faith in fear factory, because moment of impact still isnt the heaviest on the album by far, there are three that are like miles more brutal...so have faith if you are a music lover, but look forward to a band that wants to change if you are a fan.

fear factory f***ing suck!!! I mean come one they are boring as they will fail no one gives a f*** about them any more I mean they play under every band out there now and as for progressing an changing!?! pfffttt
all they do is f***ing triplet pattenrs an its f***in old...people are sick of them thrashing the bottom string with 0's an 1's they are not even compitent in there abilty to actualy write riffs and before you spout on about herreras drumming there are plenty of great bands doing what he does and more and they actually have riffs backing them not nu metal incompitent 0132 riffs

I'm pretty sure it IS Fear Factory, in that it was written by the people that make up Fear Factory. As far as I can tell a band defines themselves in the music it makes, not just in their first few albums. It'd be just as reasonable for someone who's only heard this new album to listen to Soul Of A New Machine and say that THAT isn't Fear Factory. I like all their stuff to be honest. And if you're thinking Supernova is wimpy, wait til you hear I Will Follow, I thought it was an 80s pop cover, but apparently it's their own, good stuff though, so's the Killing Joke cover. Empire is a damn heavy great song. This post is coming from someone who's favourite FF song is probably Desecrate.
