Interview with Hate Eternal's Eric Rutan

On Sunday, June 26th, I had the opportunity of interviewing Hate Eternal during their current headlining tour. The interview took place at BB Kings in New York City and was done with front man Eric Rutan. Eric was very nice and answered all of the questions took the time to make me feel as comfortable as possible. Overall, I must say, it was like two friends talking. More...

Soulfly Guitarist Slams Ill Nino

Former Ill Niño and current Soulfly guitarist Marc Rizzo has hit back at Ill Niño over his assertion that the band use backing tapes during their live performances and that he gave the group's lead singer, Cristian Machado, a "beatdown" after Machado allegedly "talked shit" about Rizzo's current band, Soulfly, from the stage while on tour as the support act for Soulfly. Rizzo's latest missive reads as follows:

So once again Ill Niño is lying and manipulating the truth to make themselves look like the good guys in front of their fans.

Since I left the band, there has been nothing but lies said about me in interviews.

When I first quit, I left on what I had considered good terms. I was happy to be out of the band and had no interest in bad-mouthing anyone in interviews. The truth is I even wrote songs on 'Confessions' — this after I had all ready quit the band. I'd work twelve- to fifteen-hour days recording that record and then go to another studio to work on my instrumental record. The point is, I had no bad feelings and was asked by Roadrunner Records and producer Bob Marlette (producer of 'Confessions') to help the band out and record. While I was there, no one had a bad thing to say to my face. Why would anyone? I'm there recording their record? This is where all the cowardly shit-talking truly started.

Behemoth Revamps Website

Nergal from Behemoth posted this message on the band's website:

Hello f(r)iends!. Finally, after months of intense work we can proudly announce that Behemoth has a revamped and fully redesigned website. Our graphic designer Graal (Tomasz Danilowicz) and webmaster Manticore (Maciek Gruszka) have completed a monumental effort on this. For each album, we want the graphics on our website to perfectly correspond with the current cover artwork . We really think we did a great job and are truly satisfied with the way it turned out. Although I have to say that we are really sorry for being delayed, as we had planned and promised ourselves and fans that it would have been ready for the album release date. Anyway, we can assure you all that this refreshed website will motivate us to work even harder on any updates, reports etc. in the future. Thank U all for endless support and hope you will visit us often and enjoy the brand new virtual world of Behemoth!

Candlemass Posts Report On Bang Your Head Fest

Candlemass bassist/main songwriter Leif Edling has posted a report from the band's recent appearance at the Bang Your Head festival in Balingen, Germany on their official website:

Came to Stuttgart on the Friday. Unfortunately without my bass. Still in Amsterdam.......Great!!! KLM promised to deliver it to the hotel later the same evening so there was nothing to do. We drove to the hotel in Schönstadt, bassless, but with sill, schnaps, meatballs and salmon in the luggage. Midsummer must be celebrated!!
Messiahs father and mother joined us (they live in Salzburg) and we had a really nice evening on the hotel patio with great food and funny hats! Later we got to the festival to see Motörhead and Saxon. Must admit we had a rendez-vous with the bar instead.

Reiter Does "Wall Of Love" For Lemmy

When Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Germany's craziest metal bunch, played at the With Full Force festival at the beginning of July, they sent some special "Get well soon!" greetings to Motorhead frontman Lemmy, who had to be taken to the hospital before the same weekend.

Here's what they did: Die Apokalyptischen Reiter counted "1-2-3-Cuddle!" – and 15,000 fans hugged the life out of each other! The original "Wall Of Love," especially for one of Rock'n'Roll's greatest!

Now, who says metal fans do not have a heart?

Diecast Guitarist Report From Napalm Death Tour

Diecast are currently in the midst of a highly successful European tour alongside Napalm Death. Jon Kita (guitars) checks following report from the road:

We are currently touring Europe for the second time this year and it has been amazing thus far. Napalm Death, Do Or Die, and End Of Days have all become close friends over the last month and a half. When you sleep head to foot, head to foot, and you open the curtain and there is an unidentified-half-naked-man, it's hard not to get used to one another. The shows have been beyond belief. We have to thank the Napalm Death fans for being so receptive to us. It has made the tour even more rewarding. The only thing that is different this time around is that it is so fucking hot. I love it, but it makes for 7th circle of hell like weather conditions inside the shows. That has been a good test for us, and from now on I think it would be a good idea to have band practice in a Boston University locker room in order to replicate the proper relative humidity levels.

The festivals have been amazing and it feels like we are Metallica when we play on a stage you could land a plane on. I'm afraid this computer is going to over heat in the 95 degree heat and spit battery acid all over my body so I will wrap this up. To everyone that has attended the shows so far, THANK YOU. Europe feels like a second home to us. Hopefully we will join the ranks of John Tesh and David Hassellhoff and be able to come back to Europe on a regular basis and play again and again to demonstrate how much we appreciate the support. We'll be back in the U.S. soon, but we won't forget everything you guys have done for us here in Europe. Take it easy everybody.

Be sure to request their new video for "Rise and Oppose" from their critically acclaimed album, Tearing Down Your Blue Skies, now on Fuse's Metal Asylum and MTV2's Headbangers Ball. Diecast are also excited to announce they will be back in Farmington, NM on Saturday July 31st at Big City Night Club, to bring the onslaught once again. The group sold out the 500 + capacity venue the last time around and due to popular demand they were forced to play a second set that same night to accommodate the people that got shut out the first time around. Get your tickets now.
