Celtic Frost Completes New Album
Seminal avant-garde metal pioneers Celtic Frost have announced the completion of their new studio album, tentatively titled "Dark Matter Manifest", their first in 13 years and the culmination of some three and a half years of songwriting and recording work. Although the album was largely produced by the band themselves and financed by their own production company, Celtic Frost enlisted Hypocrisy/Pain mastermind Peter Tätgren to co-produce with them the final recording and mixing sessions at Horus Sound Studio in Hanover, Germany, in August/September 2005. Negotiations with a variety of labels are currently underway, and the album is scheduled for a release in early 2006.
Having declined innumerable reunion show propositions over the years, Celtic Frost once again deemed it essential to manifest themselves creatively with a new album before embarking on the live circuit next year.
Original Celtic Frost members Tom Gabriel Fischer (voice and guitars) and Martin Eric Ain (bass) are joined by Erol Unala (guitar) and Franco Sesa (drums). The band are now managed by Antje Lange for The A Label in Berlin, Germany (info@thealabel.com). For real-time exclusive information and rare visual glimpses, see Celtic Frost's official website at www.celticfrost.com and Tom Gabriel Fischer's blog at apollyonsun.blogspot.com.

Launch Radio Networks reports: SLIPKNOT will hit the road in North America this fall, with the trek likely to begin on or around October 15. Details of the stage show are still being finalized, but drummer Joey Jordison did tell Launch that the band will scale things down a bit on this run. "We can still play and pack the big places right now, and we're gonna do a few of those, of course, but we were like, if we do one more tour, hit some places that we haven't hit before, play some smaller venues, and do, like, multiple nights in each city, we can make it a little bit more of an intimate, special event again," he said.
Jordison added that SLIPKNOT will play different songs on this tour, including some they haven't played in a few years.
SLIPKNOT will take UNEARTH and AS I LAY DYING out as main support on the tour, with other bands yet to be announced. The only dates revealed so far are a three-night stand in New York City on October 30, October 31 and November 1.

First Annual Ride For Dime Info Released
The first annual "Ride for Dime" bike rally will be held on Saturday, August 20 (late PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott's birthday) in Dallas. The event has been organized to raise money for the Dimebag Darrell Memorial Fund, which has been set up to help the victims of the Alrosa Villa shootings in Columbus, Ohio on December 8, 2004, which took the life of legendary heavy metal guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott.
The bike run, which will begin and end at The Clubhouse, will take the participants into Arlington, where Dimebag lived all of his life, with stops of interest including his favorite restaurant, Campo Verde, where the riders will eat dinner. The ride will also pass through Elkins Park, where Dimebag often went to relax, and by his high school. The route will finally pass by Moore Memorial Gardens, Dimebag's final resting place, where the riders will toss flowers near the cemetery gates as they pass by. The ride will then return to the Clubhouse, where a night of Dime-style partying will take place.

The Red Chord Lose Guitarist
THE RED CHORD have posted the following message on their official website:
"Kevin Rampelberg (aka Big Kev) is no longer with THE RED CHORD. Kevin and I (Guy) have been playing together in bands for the past 10 years and in THE RED CHORD for the last 6 or so. Kevin played his last show with the band at the Palladium in Worcester last week (July 26th). The split was abrupt, but amicable. For the time being, we are performing as a 4 piece with Gunface (aka Mike McKenzie) handling all the guitar duties.
On the special occasion side of things, PSYOPUS guitarist, Chris Arp, is currently out with THE RED CHORD learning our songs in order to start filling in over the next few days. For those of you confused, PSYOPUS is supposed to be out with ION DISSONANCE and SWARM OF THE LOTUS right now. Unfortunately, according to preliminary reports from the band, they were waiting to leave for the first show of the tour and they received a wild and confusing call from drummer Lee Fisher explaining he would not be able to do the tour. PSYOPUS contemplated having a drum machine fill in to keep from bailing, but parties involved disagreed with the practicality of the idea."

Aborted To Sign With Century Media
Century Media Records is proud to announce the worldwide signing of Belgian death/grinders, ABORTED.
“It’s been a very hectic, intense and heavy year for ABORTED,” says founder and lead vocalist Sven De Caluwé. “Yet a year in which we have done tons of amazing things, went to amazing places and met a lot of cool new people. One of those amazing things is being signed to a label we believe will be able to lift this band to new heights. They believe in us 200% and are going to help us take the next step in our careers.”
The band is gearing up for a North American tour this fall with SUFFOCATION, CRYPTOPSY and DESPISED ICON. This will serve as the band’s first-ever full U.S. tour! As anyone who saw the band at their Maryland Deathfest appearance can attest, you do not want to miss out on this historical event.
“With our North American tour we will finally be able to get out to the U.S. and Canada and do some damage,” De Caluwé says. “Needless to say we are extremely thrilled to hit the road and to be a part of the growing Century Family, a company that stands for nothing but quality releases and that strongly supports every cool act under their wings.”

Lee has been a great friend of mine for many years and is also one of the greatest guitarist I've had the pleasure of knowing. He was not only the best guy for this job, he was the only one. No one else was ever considered. His leads are totally ripping on the new album and I am looking very much forward to working with him on new music soon. He is a rhythm crusher as well as a shred machine so things are going to be heavy as hell! We start rehearsals Wednesday and I can't wait. My moving is done and I am chomping at the bit to get the show on the road."

In a recent interview with Billboard.com, Jason Newsted talked about the upcoming Voivod records via The End Records. A few excerpts from the article:
"It's the most complete demos I've ever been involved in," he says. "[Voivod singer] Snake has already chosen his effects -- exact timing of milliseconds for delay. We've had a long time to develop the demos, so there's about 23 or 25 songs that are absolutely listenable right now."
Like Metallica, Newsted was a huge fan of Voivod before he was invited to join and he remains a great admirer to this day. "They created something a long, long time ago that may have been emulated many, many times since -- but nobody can do it like the original," he offers.
