Ripper Owens' Beyond Fear Signs To SPV
SPV Records has announced the signing of BEYOND FEAR, the brand new hard-hitting metal outfit founded by current ICED EARTH and former JUDAS PRIEST vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens. The band is preparing to enter the studio with producer Jim Morris (ICED EARTH, DEATH) to record their debut album for a 2006 release. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "I Don't Need This", "And You Will Die", "It Is Me", "Telling Lies", "The Faith", "The Human Race", "Your Time Has Come" and "My Last Words".
"It feels great to sign with SPV," Owens commented. "I have been with them for quite some time now with ICED EARTH, so I know what they can do. It is always nice to have a label that makes you feel like family, and that's what SPV does for you!"
The band is off to a fast start, having recently announced their participation in a series of American dates with SAVATAGE leader Jon Oliva (JON OLIVA'S PAIN) and SAVATAGE axeman Chris Caffery. The tour kicks off on September 9, 2005 in Cleveland OH, with remaining dates pending.
Never one to sit still for long, Owens began forming BEYOND FEAR last year during breaks in the ICED EARTH touring schedule. The band also features John Comprix (SPAWN, 13 FACES) on lead and rhythm guitar, Dennis Hayes (ex-WINTERS BANE, SEVEN WITCHES) on bass, Dwane Bihary (MISSING SKIN) on rhythm guitar, and drummer Eric Elkins (CRYPTKICKER, ALL YOU FEAR). "This band means a lot to me and I'm having the time of my life doing it," continued Owens. "It's fun when you finally get to do what you want. That being said, let's get this machine called BEYOND FEAR out there for the world to hear and see."
SPV Managing Director, Manfred Schuetz, explains, "Tim is one of the five best singers in metal. He will deliver an album that will convince everyone. SPV is excited about the worldwide commitment."

Unreleased The Project Hate Album Up For Download
The Project Hate has posted the following message regarding their unreleased album, "Deadmarch":
Now we have quite a treat for you Haters... Most of you probably heard about the lost "Deadmarch" tapes, right? If not, let's put long story in short:
Deadmarch was the complete embryo to what finally became TPH. We recorded one album, but it never saw the light of day. After TPH was formed and years passed, we dug the album out from the archives and gave it a few listens and thought about the possibility to have J [vocalist Jörgen Sandström] re-record the vocals for it since K [guitarist/keyboardist Lord K Philipson] was never satisfied with the vocal outcome. Yes, you got it, J didn't do the original vocals for the album - that being one of the reasons we never released it. The intention was to release it as a special treat for our fans, cos the album itself holds many aspects we think our fans would've loved to hear. This plan, thanx to many reasons (mentioned pretty in-depth at the forums), never happened. So we have decided to give you all the unreleased album for downloading for a short period of time.
Yeah, yeah, we know, we are completely awesome.
There's only one "but" to it: It means that you have to register at our forums to find the links to all the songs and detailed info about the album and why it never was re-recorded.
This album might be something to still yer hunger a little while waiting for October 5th when the new masterpiece gets released worldwide...
And just so you know, we most definitely will have another treat for you Haters very soon. Keep checking in here...

Arch Enemy Guitarist Updates From Ozzfest
Arch Enemy guitarist, Michael Amott, has posted part 4 of their Ozzfest diary on the band's website:
Hello Arch Enemies!
Well, here we are…half way through the OZZFEST! Everything is going extremely well, we are more than satisfied with the crowd response and the overall vibe of the Ozzfest – we are having a blast!
Second week's sales in the US for “Doomsday Machine” are very strong and it’s amazing to us that so many people seem to have discovered ARCH ENEMY lately! Cool!
Our new video, “Nemesis” will premiere on Headbangers Ball next weekend – be sure to check it out if you haven’t yet seen it (On FUSE TV or online maybe)… We did the “Nemesis” video with the same director as the “We Will Rise” clip a couple of years ago; Mr. Jorge Bravo…he’s a very creative and cool guy...he was throwing snakes, fire and eh, black feathers at us during the shoot… Enjoy the video!
I’d also like to mention that meeting all of the nice fans at Ozzfest during the FYE and Jägermeister signings is an experience in itself. Thanks to everyone for buying the album – without you this doesn’t happen! We know that, and appreciate your support of Arch Enemy 100%!
We are looking forward to the rest of the Ozzfest and our summer here in the US – see you out there somewhere!

Into The Moat Lose Guitarist, Cancel Shows
Into the Moat guitarist, Robert Shaffer, has left the band in the middle of their tour, forcing the band to cancel some shows as they look for a replacement. Vocalist Earl Ruwell IV has posted this message on the band's website:
We send our deepest apologies to the people who came out to see us and were not there. As you know, our bassist quit the band the first day of this soilent green tour leaving us to play 3 weeks of it with only guitar. Now we are suffering another devastating blow to the band as our guitarist, Robert Shaffer thought it was best to quit the band right in the middle of the tour and would not agree to finishing up any tours. We are currently back at home working really hard to find someone in the meantime able to tour til the end of october. Yet again we want to apologize. Thanks to his irresponsible actions we are forced to drop off some shows but we plan on jumping back on the tour ASAP. So if you live in the south florida area, can play guitar well, don't have much to, and aren't an emotion basketcase...... email us into_the_moat@hotmail.com
Many bands would quit and break up faced with these major set backs, but the original, current, and true members of this band choose to face our problems, rather than run from them. We will be back in full force in no tie.

Sharon Osbourne: Ozzy To Continue Playing Arenas
Ozzy Osbourne's wife/manager Sharon Osbourne confirmed in an interview with The Arizona Republic Friday (August 12) that this year's Ozzfest will be the last time Ozzy performs with the traveling festival.
"We're changing the format of the festival next year, and Ozzy will be going into arenas for a while. Because this outside business is just knocking the (expletive) out of him in the summer," she said.
On this year's Ozzfest tour, Osbourne has been plagued by health problems, causing him to cancel some appearances. On Thursday (August 11), he halted a song midway when his voice cracked.
"He's been having a lot of voice problems," Sharon Osbourne said. "Unfortunately for Ozzy, he suffers a lot from hay fever, and when we're on tour everything is outside. When the pollen count is high, he's just wiped out. And there's only so many things he can take for it.
"But he's struggling on."
Despite Osbourne's absence in future tours, his wife said Ozzfest will continue.
"We've proved the festival is solid as a rock, just other people will headline. And Ozzy will continue, but it is time for Ozzy to move on."
