No New Judas Priest Shows Until 2005

Judas Priest Management Co-ordinator Jayne Andrews has posted this message on the band's official website:

Quite a few of you have been asking whether Judas Priest will be doing any shows after they finish on the Ozzfest on 4th September, 2004. Please note we won't be doing anymore shows this year - the guys will be finishing off the album so we can deliver it in time for 28th December, 2004 release! We are working on a World Tour starting early in 2005 (this will include the U.K.!!) and will announce the dates as soon as we finalise them.

Cradle Of Filth New Video Features Liv Kristine

CRADLE OF FILTH bassist Dave Pybus has posted the following update on the band's official web site:

“The new album is finished and the promo tour has started which saw me and Dani travel through Cologne - Germany, Stockholm - Sweden, Amsterdam - Holland, Milan - Italy and New York - USA. There is a 6 track CD featuring unmixed and unmastered songs gone out to the press which rumour has it can be downloaded on the net. I wanna personally thank whoever did this for us as it's helped the promotion of Nymphetamine a thousand fold and we now hope to go on and sell a million copies due to people downloading our songs before we put them on the website. Cheers for that. I'll buy you a beer if we ever meet. You can officially download the title track for us when it appears on the RESIDENT EVIL soundtrack later this month. Thanks.

One thing not many people have heard so far is our BATHORY 'Bestial Lust' cover, which is set to appear on Japanese release of Nymphetamine as an extra track. We did this before Bathory mainman Quorthon died but we'd still like to think of it as a tribute to them. Maybe this track will appear on our special edition early next year, so rest of the world... don't worry.

The video shoot for 'Nymphetamine' takes place this week in London at a secret location and [ex- THEATRE OF TRAGEDY and current LEAVES' EYES singer] Liv Kristine WILL be featured in the video. Dani tells us: 'It's sort of a murder ballad. The vibe of it is going to be like you are watching theatre. It's going to be very Shakespearian, but the lead characters are actually both females, so there is going to be a slight lesbian kink to it.' Nice... I spent some of today choosing the models for the video.

Anvil Announces Album Release Date

Screaming Ferret Wreckords have announced that Anvil's latest album, "Back To Basics," will see a North American release through the label on August 24. The album was produced by renowned Canadian metal mastermind Pierre Rémillard (who had produced 2 previous Anvil albums, as well as 4 from Cryptopsy, and titles from Gorguts, Quo Vadis, and Kataklysm) is described by frontman/guitarist Steven "Lips" Kudlow as "a great pounding feel, like Accenpt meets Ozzy's Bark At the Moon." The initial run of "Back To Basics" will also feature a bonus live DVD Live At Wacken 1998, featuring such frenzied standards as "Five Knuckle Shuffle," "Smoking Green," “Old School," "Winged Assassins," "Forged In Fire," "March of the Crabs," "Metal On Metal," "666," and "Mothra."

In addition, the label will soon be releasing a number of classic Avil albums - discs that defined and secured the band’s status in the true heavy metal elite. Titles include three currently out-of-print releases: 1987's "Strength Of Steel" (which featured such classics as "Concrete Jungle," "Straight Between The Eyes," and "Mad Dog," the song that yielded a quite humorous video that received recurrent airplay on MTV's original Headbangers Ball program), 1988's "Pound For Pound" (featuring "Blood On The Ice" and "Toe Jam"), 1989's Past & Present Live (a brilliant live set capturing such seminal Avil anthems as "Forged In Fire," "Metal on Metal," "March Of The Crabs," and "Mothra"). Screaming Ferret Wreckords is also releasing a number of titles that never received a proper U.S. release, including 1991's "Worth The Weight," 1996's "Plugged In Permanent," 1997's "Absolutely No Alternative," 1998's "Speed Of Sound," 2001's "Plenty Of Power," 2002's "Still Going Strong," and the special 1999 "Anthology Of Anvil," the perfect introductory piece to the manic, semi-insane world of Anvil.

All titles will be re-mastered and will contain bonus tracks.

Satyricon Film Video At Wacken

A twelve-camera production crew filmed SATYRICON’s performance at last weekend’s Wacken Open Air festival for an upcoming music video for the track ‘Repined Bastard Nation’. ‘Repined Bastard Nation’ is pulled from the band's latest album, Volcano, released in Europe through Capitol Records in September 2002 and most recently in the North America through the Sony Music imprint EatUrMusic.

The Norwegian black metallers were joined by Nocturno Culto, guitarist and vocalist from influential black metal band, DARKTHRONE who joined Satyricon on stage to perform some of Darkthrone’s most celebrated classics. Nocturno Culto also played guitar on final track, ‘Mother North’, from Satyricon’s Nemesis Divina where he features under the name of ‘Kveldulv’. The joint performance, held in front of over 40,000 people, broke ‘a new crowd record’ and was the last of its kind according to both camps.

Darkthrone’s latest opus, Sardonic Wrath is available through Moonfog from 6th September.
