The Project Hate To Record New Album In December

THE PROJECT HATE, the Swedish band featuring Jörgen Sandström of ENTOMBED/GRAVE fame on lead vocals, will enter Soundlab Studios in December to record their fourth full-length album, tentatively due in early 2005. "We plan to record 8 or 9 songs for the album," the group write on their web site. "We are also planning to record a cover. No, it's not going for the album but for a planned compilation album to be released sometime if all goes well. When there's more info about this we'll announce what band we are covering. Let just say we won't do the song in the traditional cover way..."

With regards to the new songs, the band write, "The material is possibly more death metal than anything we have ever done before, without losing all the usual ingredients we are known for. That stuff is probably more evident than ever as well, how weird that may sound..."

Dio 'Master Of The Moon' Audio Samples Online

30-second audio samples of all 10 tracks from the forthcoming DIO album, "Master of the Moon", have been posted online at this location. "Master of the Moon" is scheduled for release on August 30 in Europe through SPV Records and August 31 in the U.S. through Sanctuary. The follow-up to 2002's "Killing the Dragon" was recorded at a Los Angeles studio and features lyrics that are "cynical" and "political", with the music being a mixture of up-tempo and doomy tracks, according to frontman Ronnie James Dio.

New Project, KGB IS Formed

A new project featuring members of Today Is The Day and Most Precious Blood has been formed called KGB. The core of the outfit currently consists of Most Precious Blood frontman Rob Fusco (vocals), in addition to Steve Austin (guitar, samples) and Chris Debari (bass) of Today Is The Day. According to Fusco, "look forward to a heavy, dark, psychologically and sonically punishing attack from this band." The group will record a demo at Austin Enterprises in Clinton, MA next week. No labels have been contacted as of yet.

Mistress Sign To Earach Records

UK sludge/grind outfit Mistress have officially signed a worldwide deal with Earache Records. Formed in 1999, the band has previously released material with Rage Of Achilles Records. According to Earache manager Dan Tobin, "Mistress represent a lot of what the extreme music scene is lacking these days; hunger, depravity, filth, honesty, grim reality, pain, suffering and a sick appreciation for the bizarre." The group will release their Earache debut, entitled "In Disgust We Trust," in early-2005.

Paria Complete Debut Full-Length

Nebraska metal band Paria have completed work on their debut full-length for Black Market Activities. The effort was recorded at the Ranch Bowl in Omaha, NE and is tentatively slated for a November 2nd release. You can download a song from the album, entitled "Misanthropos."

The Shattering Sign To Retribute Records

THE SHATTERING, the Swedish death/grind band formerly known as DISSECTUM, have signed a deal with Retribute Records.

Formed in 2002 under their previous moniker, THE SHATTERING soon gained interest on the back of their "Pale With Terror" demo, which was followed by a two-track promo CD recorded at the end of 2003. The band will be entering the studio before the end of the year to record their debut album, tentatively due in early 2005.

The Gathering Singer Expecting First Child

The Gathering singer Anneke van Giersbergen has explained the group's recent concert cancellations by announcing that she is three months pregnant with her first child. "As happy as I was [to learn of the pregnancy], that's how sick I was as well," she said in a statement. "I took the pregnancy-nausea to a whole new level. Now all is well again and I look forward to carrying both the baby as well as the upcoming tours and the rest of the year to a blazing end."
