Ozzy Recording Theme For 'Dog the Bounty Hunter'?

The New York Post is reporting that OZZY OSBOURNE has recorded the original theme song for the new TV show "Dog the Bounty Hunter", airing on A&E on Tuesday, Aug. 31, with back-to-back half-hour episodes starting at 10 p.m.

"Dog the Bounty Hunter" follows the show's star, a bounty hunter named Duane Chapman (nicknamed "Dog"), as he tracks and then traps various fugitives — usually men (and occasionally women) who skip their scheduled trial dates and are hiding out somewhere in Hawaii, usually in some of the islands' seedier locales.

Bringing them in is the job of Dog, his wife, Beth, 34, and various associates, including one of Dog's sons, Leland, 27, (Duane and Beth have 12 children between them) and one of Dog's nephews, Justin, 21.

American Head Charge Name New Album

AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE have set "The Feeding" as the title of their new album, tentatively due in October through Nitrus/DRT Entertainment. The follow-up to 2001's "The War of Art" (American Recordings) was recorded at Westlake Studios in Los Angeles with producer Greg Fidelman (who engineered "The War of Art", and whose credits include MARILYN MANSON, SLIPKNOT, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS and BUSH). In addition, look for "Cowards", a new song from AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE on the Ultimate Fighting Championship's compilation album "Ultimate Beatdowns Vol. 1", due in stores August 24, also on Nitrus/DRT.

Hailing from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, the six members of AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE garnered both commercial and critical acclaim with "The War of Art", which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's "Heatseekers" chart. Intensive, high-profile touring followed, including Ozzfest 2002, cementing the band's reputation as a killer live act.

Everyone Is On Board For Motley Crue Reunion

Former MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil sat down exclusively with MuchMoreMusic's Bill Welychka in Buffalo, NY last week and cleared up recent rumors of a possible reunion/farewell tour.

"Two weeks ago in L.A., Tommy (Lee), Nikki (Sixx), myself and Mick (Mars) by phone sat in a room together with all the attorneys to see if we even wanted to do this," said Neil. "The fans are asking for it and I think it's time. It's a good thing and a good time to put a 'period' on the MÖTLEY CRÜE story. After, we'll call it quits and go back to doing what we've been doing for the past few years. It'll be closure for me — and this won't go on to be seven or eight 'farewell tours' like KISS or CHER... Everyone is on board and 95% committed. It's definitely time."

With sales upwards of the 40 million mark, the band battled well-documented years of drug abuse and mounting legal troubles. Neil contends, however, that this is a wiser and healthier MÖTLEY CRÜE.

The last time the four original members toured together was 1999, before personality differences forced the band off the road. MÖTLEY CRÜE toured again in 2000 without Tommy Lee. The upcoming tour is slated to last close to two years, and will most likely commence in February 2005.

Soulfly Cancel Window Rock Fest II Appearance

Rick Abasta of NativeTimes.com is reporting that SOULFLY cancelled their previously announced appearance at the Window Rock Fest II in Window Rock, Arizona on Saturday (August 14) because of a brief shower of rain early Saturday evening.

SOULFLY's decision to cancel their appearance at the festival doesn't bode well with the festival organizer, Randall Hoskie of Rancid Savage Productions, especially the seemingly deceitful method the band chose to leave the venue.

"They told my stage manager they were going to shower up and get ready," Hoskie said Sun. night. "I tried to find them and kept calling. I finally got a hold of them and their manager said the band decided not to have the show."

Christina Winters, manager for SOULFLY, called Hoskie from the freeway and said the band was traveling to their next tour stop and would not perform in Window Rock.

The Window Rock promoter was stunned from the news and fought back anger. More...

YOB Sign To Metal Blade Records

Eugene, Oregon-based doom metal band YOB have inked a deal with Metal Blade Records. The group's new album, "The Illusion of Motion", is scheduled for release on October 19.

Commented founding member Mike Scheidt: "We are very excited about our new record, 'The Illusion of Motion'. It has the extremes that our fans expect of YOB, only more. Our slow riffs are much slower and crushing and our faster tunes are more jagged and chaotic. Our melodic parts are more atmospheric and our discordant riffs are angular and throttling. 'The Illusion of Motion' has YOB's shortest tune ever clocking in a just over 6 minutes and our longest tune clocking in at over 26 minutes. And the vocal extremes that are displayed on our earlier records are even more over the top. Plus this is our first recording with our new(ish) drummer extraordinaire Travis Foster who has been crushing skulls with us for almost two years now. It is by far our best record yet in songwriting as well as production and we are very happy to release it with Metal Blade Records."

YOB are expected to play a number of shows on the west coast throughout the rest of 2004, including a West Coast tour that will take the band down to San Francisco to play at The Days of Darkness festival on Friday, September 3. After that, the band will embark on a full U.S. tour in the spring of 2005. Dates and support acts will be announced as soon as they are made available.

Omnium Gatherum Change Name Of Album

Finnish melo-death metallers OMNIUM GATHERUM have changed the projected title of their sophomore album to "Years In Waste" from the previously announced "Fall Grave Silence".

The follow-up to last year's highly acclaimed "Spirits and August Light" was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Finland with producer Nino Laurenne and engineer Teemu Aalto. The mastering sessions took place at Finnvox studios in Helsinki.

OMNIUM GATHERUM are currently in the process of signing a new record deal, having recently parted ways with the Rage of Achilles label. "[Rage of Achilles] agreed that they didn`t have enough resources to take OMNIUM GATHERUM to next level," the band write on their web site. "This all was done in good fellowship. Thanks a lot to Duncan & Rage Of Achilles for supporting and promoting us [over] the years!"

New Statetrooper Album Delayed

The long-awaited second release from STATETROOPER, featuring Gary Barden of MSG (MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP) fame on vocals, has hit another hold-up in the U.S. Although the record was originally set to be issued on July 26, the album won't actually be in the stores for another couple of weeks. The unanticipated demand in Europe has left the distributors scrambling to press more CDs to meet the needs here and in Europe.

"The Calling", which is being released on CIC Records, the band's own label, follows the re-release of their first album from 1985. When fan pressure pushed the band to re-release it online a few years ago, and then eventually get it in the stores, the band reformed and set to work on this new album. Having each had problems in the past with certain aspects of how things worked, however, the band members decided to take control of their own fates this time around and they are managing themselves as well as running their own label with the help of veteran British publicist Rupert Withers.

"This is a quality problem," admits Withers. "We are still learning a lot as we go, and I'd rather have the problem of having to press more CDs than returns any day."

In addition to Barden, the band consists of guitarist Jeff Summers, drummer Bruce Bisland with Martin Mickels on guitar, Tony O'Hora on bass and occasional appearances by keyboardist Steve Glover. The band hopes to be on a U.S. tour in late 2004/early 2005.

Arch Enemy - Wacken Open Air 2004 In Review

Arch Enemy singer Angel Gossow has issued the following message to the fans at this year’s Wacken Open Air on the band’s official website http://www.archenemy.net:
“Cheers,
Just wanna drop a few words about Wacken, cuz it was absolutely fantastic for us! A big HELLO and THANK YOU goes out to all the people who have been waiting patiently for us to perform there: We finally made it to this crazy festival! And yes, it was worth the long van-ride down from Sweden! We not only had a fantastic, wild crowd when we played, we were also amazed and shocked by the amount of fans hanging out at the signing tent! Sorry to all those who couldn’t get their stuff signed, but we only had 45 minutes and had to leave on time – the next band was already there waiting for their turn..
We had a packed promo schedule that day, meeting and greeting a hell lot of cool people! I did a metal quiz with the great lady of rock, Mrs. Doro Pesch, met the guys from Hobbs Angel Of Death (cult!), chatted and laughed with Sabina Classen and talked to various members of Destruction, Marduk, Warlock, Hypocrisy, etc.. It takes me about one week to handle all the impressions I got during this lovely sunny Friday at Wacken!
Love, Angela”

Behemoth Complete Work On Demigod

Polish black metal outfit Behemoth have completed work on their new album, "Demigod", for a fall release. The group's frontman Nergal has just finished mixing the album at Dug-Out studios in Uppsala, Sweden with Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames). Mastering duties were handled at the Cutting Room studios in Stockholm.

Commented Nergal: "Working with Daniel was awesome. Things went pretty smooth and we completed all the mixes within two weeks. It seems like this move was essential for us... The sound has never been so intense and fresh. Bergstrand brought a lot of new ideas into our music and I'm more than sure that 'Demigod' gained a new dimension. It was so much vital and necessary to have someone else involved in the production process than ourselves. It's great to work with somebody who has great experience and knows how to deal with the band like ours. I mean...this guy has worked with [some] of the biggest extreme metal bands around like Meshuggah, Strapping Young Lad or In Flames. I think it speaks for itself... "
He added: "It's the new beginning for us. 'Demigod', with all its might and splendor, rises above anything we've done before...Don't get me wrong. I love our previous works, but with this record, it feels like we've been locked in a dark room all this time, and now we came out and saw the light...I believe we achieved the best song writing and best production we could. Having such a great and supporting labels behind our back let us release new creativity and make something we haven't done before. In my opinion 'Demigod' is a way more extreme record than 'Zos Kia Cultus' but on the other hand it contains more classic influences...more eerie harmonies and catchiness. It's still difficult for me to get a right distance to this album as I've been working on it for last few months with no break and no rest. It still surprises me where all this enthusiasm comes from after all the energy I spent on this record ha ha..."
"Demigod" track listing:
01. Sculpting The Throne Ov Seth
02. Demigod
03. Conquer All (mp3 clip)
04. The Nephilim Rising
05. Towards Babylon
06. Before Aeons Came
07. Mysterium Coniunctionis (Hermanubis)
08. XUL
09. Slaves Shall Serve (mp3 clip)
10. The Reign Ov Shemsu-Hor

"Demigod" is tentatively scheduled for release this fall on Regain Records in Europe, Mystic Records in Poland, Raven Music in Israel and Irond in Russia. A U.S. release is planned for early 2005.

Amorphis To Be Joined By Charon Singer

Charon/ex-Poisonblack frontman Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto will handle the vocal duties for Amorphis on the group's upcoming U.S. tour with Type O Negative. At the moment, there are no plans for Leppäluoto to join Amorphis on a full-time basis.
"When we first started thinking about this singer situation [following Pasi Koskinen's departure], nobody came to our minds," guitarist Esa Holopainen told Finland's Sonera Plaza. "But then we found out that J-P could be very good substitute for Pasi. I sent him all the Amorphis CDs and he is practicing our songs very hard at the moment... But let's see later who will handle the 'death metal vocals' in some of our songs."

As previously reported, Amorphis's tour with Type O Negative is scheduled to kick off in early October. Confirmed dates so far include the following:
Oct. 07 – Toad's Place – New Haven, CT
Oct. 11 - Irving Plaza - New York, NY
Oct. 12 - Crocodile Rock - Allentown, PA
Oct. 15 - Theatre of Living Arts - Philadelphia, PA
Oct. 30 - Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee, WI
Amorphis' most recent CD, "Far From The Sun", will receive its long-overdue North/South American release on September 7 through Nuclear Blast Records. The album will be packaged as a special version with three bonus songs, including an acoustic version of the title track, "Far From The Sun".
