Nightmare Parts Ways With Napalm Records

The band Nightmare explain the reason of the separation from Napalm Records:

We have parted ways with Napalm Records very amicably... We will never forget what this label has done for us so far... giving us the breath for a second birth in 1999... Napalm being actually focusing into a completely different music style from what we offer, we simply decided all together that it would be better for us to find a more suitable label for what we have to offer...

"Time for some news. The last news from Sever The Fallen. Yes, that's right, STF has come to the end. We felt that we were not where we wanted to be with STF due to the many lineup changes halting the progress of the band. There are no hard feelings and we are still great friends. It has been six fun years and will not be forgotten. Thank you to everyone who supported us, people we met at shows, Tribunal Records, other bands we played with, and promoters. We have made alot of new friends through this. We have seven unreleased songs which will be lost forever unless you've seen us live recently and recorded them. Anyone who has video clips of us from shows, please send them to us. The website will be up for a couple of months so post on the message board and give your thoughts. Who knows, you might be able to get a few of us back together for a new project."

Linkin Park Wins MTV's Viewer's Choice Award

After much vote whoring and begging, Linkin Park got enough votes to win MTV's Viewer's Choice award for 'Breaking The Habit'. The band said upon accepting the award:

"First of all, I'd like to thank Gonzo, who did the animation. Nakazawa, the animation director Rod McDermon, Chemoprofit, Jim Hawkinson, Jen Haas, and this is Matt. He's my partner, my producer, and helps me put it all together... A real quick thank you to all you guys that went out there at the last minute and were voting, and the rest of the band, we know you guys were out there watching... We have the best fans in the world. We love you guys out there. Thank you very much!"

Here's what they had to say in their newsletter:

On behalf of Linkin Park, I would like to personally thank all of our fans that voted for us for viewer\'s choice. This is a very important award for us because it was voted for by our people. For those of you who don't know, this was the most tedious video of ours to accomplish. The concept was inspired by our fans and it is a great honor for us to receive the love back. Once again, thank you. Joe Hahn and Linkin Park.

Spirit Disease Work On New Material

Finnish death/thrash band Spirit Disease have posted the following message on their web site:

The correct release date [for mini-CD] "Redemption Denied" is still unknown to us and the label [Vortex Motions Records]. This delay is not a good thing, but we can't really help it. It's not the label's fault, either. The exact details of this shit may be revealed later.

Onto other things, then. We have been working really hard with new songs for our next CD and they are absofuckinglutely great, much heavier and faster than before. The two guitar line-up has opened up so many new possibilities for us and it feels really great. At the moment it seems that our next CD will wipe its ass with "Redemption Denied."

New song titles include "Scared to Live," "Afraid to Die" and "Annihilation."

Formed in September 2002, Spirit Disease's members have over a decade of experience in metal music. "Redemption Denied" will feature six original songs and a cover of the Death classic "Evil Dead." An MP3 of the track "Sadistic Belated Abortion" can be downloaded at this location.

"Redemption Denied" track listing:

01. Everyone Must Die
02. Sadistic Belated Abortion
03. Torment And Pain
04. Horse (Xim Esrepnarouh)
05. Redemption Denied
06. The Extinction Of Subhuman Kind
07. Evil Dead (Death cover)

Diamond Head Explain Decision To Fire Singer

Reunited NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) legends Diamond Head have issued a follow-up statement regarding their decision to part ways with singer Sean Harris. The statement reads as follows:

Since the success of the acoustic dates in 2000, events have moved on rapidly-for Diamond Head at least! With the recording of a new album during 2002 things would have appeared on the surface going well. It is therefore somewhat ironic that the band has had to confront arguably the most fundamental upheaval since its very formation — a Diamond Head without Sean Harris.

Times and people move on, personal and professional objectives change and as we have got older (and hopefully wiser!), we all invariably move towards differing agendas.

As musicians we recently reached that regrettable but sometimes inevitable point where our respective business and creative visions for the band were rapidly and irreconcilably diverging. To compromise in such a situation would have meant all parties concerned feeling dissatisfied with the end result. The band would have surely stagnated and imploded.

Therefore after a great deal of soul searching we have decided to carry on without Sean as singer. We wish him all the luck in the world with his future ventures and projects.

Over the last few years it has been gratifying, humbling and downright flattering to see the huge ongoing interest, constant support and open affection people have for the band and our music. So much so that if only for those people we are fully determined to forge ahead with Diamond Head.

We have found a brilliant new singer in Nick Tart and the songs we have written thus far have been created with a natural ease and enthusiasm; what could be termed classic Diamond Head tempered with a very contemporary sound.

We are sure that once the fans have heard the fruits of our labours they will continue to support us as they have in the past.

The album — as yet untitled — is due out Spring 05.
