Ron Thal To Be New Guns N Roses Guitarist?

Guitar shredder Ron Thal of the New York City-based alternative-rap-metal project BUMBLEFOOT has been asked to join GUNS N' ROSES as the replacement for Buckethead, according to a posting at www.bumblefoot.com. "Since, the rumors are already flyin', I might as well say," Ron writes on the site. "I was asked to join GUNS N' ROSES two months ago. It's not definitely happenin', we're just feelin' it out. When decisions have been made, I'll let y'all know."

Ron Thal started as a solo artist on Shrapnel/Roadrunner Records with the instrumental guitar-oriented CD "The Adventures Of Bumblefoot" in May 1995 (voted one of the Best Newcomers in Young Guitar magazine's Readers' Poll in January 1996) and the vocal "Hermit" CD in January 1997. Through his own production company, Hermit Inc., Thal (a.k.a. Bumblefoot) has released his own music, and has worked as a producer, songwriter, and hired musician. Credits include CNN, MTV, Jessica Simpson, Cher, LeAnn Rimes, and many more.

3 Inches of Blood Guitarists Leave, Tour Dates

Posted on the official 3 Inches of Blood website:

To confirm, (guitarists) Bobby Froese and Sunny Dhak are no longer part of the band. The two of them decided they could no longer commit to touring and needed to deal with some personal matters. Naturally, we were all quite shocked and disappointed by their decision, but after much discussion we understand why they needed to do this and we wish them the best.

We decided afterwards that we didn't want to call it a day, so we've recruited the guitar talents of Justin Hagberg from war-metallers Allfather, and Shane Clark who plays in Ten Miles Wide and The Almighty Punchdrunk.

We're also pleased to announce that we'll be doing a tour of the U.S.A. as main support for Metal Church.

Confirmed dates for the Metal Church tour are as follows: More...

Info On Antimatter's New Album

From The End Records website:

Recording and mixing is now complete for the English half of Antimatters as yet untitled 3rd album. Mick recorded 4 tracks in mid July ("A Portrait Of The Young Man As An Artist," "Legions," "The Weight Of The World" and "Epitaph") choosing to abandon all electronica and produce an all-natural session, complete with live drums and violins. As the album will essentially be an England vs Ireland production (or Liverpool vs Dublin), recording for Duncans half will take place at a later date in Eire (possibly Sept or Oct 04), featuring guest musicians from that area. Duncan has already produced an early graphic design that will likely become the albums artwork.

Napalm Death Issues Studio Report

Napalm Death’s Barney Greenway (vocals) has sent the following message to the band’s fans:

We are currently in Foel Studios in Mid Wales (the middle of nowhere), which is actually owned by Dave Anderson who was the original bass player for Hawkwind (before Lemmy even), which rocks, of course. Everything is working out really well, and we have tried a few different methods of working here, which have really helped my voice. I am using the microphone as I would live, which helps to really get the full roar going. Guitars are sounding heavy as anything, and as we have given ourselves just about the right time in the studio - as per usual - it helps to keep us on our toes so everything sounds pretty vital. Shane is doing his usual tractor impressions with the bass, which is nice. We're currently at a race to the finish, so everything is starting to shape up properly with the only distraction being the mist that hangs over the valley most mornings...and the sheep! A few titles for you as we chalk 'em off...”Instruments Of Persuasion,” “Morale,” “Striding Purposefully Backwards,” “Climate Controllers,” “Sold Short,” plus of course the title track “The Code Is Red...Long Live The Code.” More later. Cheers.

Napalm Death will be releasing their Century Media Records debut, "Leaders Not Followers: Part 2," on October 5th. Fans can expect to see the band late October through November with Cannibal Corpse, Kataklysm, and Goatwhore.

LOG's "Ashes" Slams Suits Who Play Risk w/ Lives

MTV has posted this report on Lamb of God:

One morning in May, Lamb of God guitarist and lyricist Mark Morton awoke in the early afternoon, flipped on the TV and watched a news report that turned his blood to ice. A 26-year-old Philadelphia telecommunications contractor named Nicholas Berg had just been beheaded by Islamic militants in the latest episode of bloodshed in the Middle East.

"Every time you think things are as bad as they could possibly get, there's a dude getting his head sawed off," Morton said, recalling the incident with disgust. "We've got all these rich white dudes in suits playing Risk with 18-year-old American kids who are dying over there, and it feels like Armageddon. It seems like we're bringing on our own demise."

Caliban To Open For Machine Head

German metalcore band Caliban have officially been confirmed as the opener for the duration of Machine Head's European tour, beginning on October 9 in Belgium and wrapping up 49 shows later on December 14 in Greece. Also appearing on the bill will be God Forbid. A complete list of currently confirmed tour dates can be viewed at this location.

Caliban recently signed with Abacus and Roadrunner Records for the American territory and the world outside the U.S., respectively. The group's fourth full-length album, "The Opposite From Within," will be issued in the U.S. on October 5 (it was released in Europe on September 20).

Produced by In Flames frontman Anders Friden and mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap (Machine Head, Killswitch Engage, Arch Enemy) at the Backstage Studio in the U.K., "The Opposite From Within" "takes the band's formula of Slayer-esque, precise metal guitars with emotional hardcore to a whole new level of maturity," according to a press release. "Double-bass mosh parts, enormous walls of guitar and the band’s keen sense of melody are played with utter conviction throughout the 12-song outing."
