The 69 Eyes New Album Track Listing Revealed

Finnish goth-metallers The 69 Eyes have revealed the track listing of their new album, entitled "Devils", tentatively due this fall through EMI/Virgin Records.

The follow-up to 2002's "Paris Kills" was produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa (H.I.M., Moonspell, Sentenced) and Johnny Lee Michaels and will be preceded by a single containing the album's title cut.

"We worked for about one and a half years on this record [between songwriting and recording]," singer Jyrki 69 told Finland's Sonera Plaza Kaista. "I sometimes felt like the sessions were never going to be completed. But now, when I listen to the final result, I've gotta say that I'm totally satisfied and so happy! Whenever I think of our previous releases, there are always some little things I don't like about them, but 'Devils' is perfect record, in my opinion."

With regards to the album title, Jyrki said, "'Devils' is great title for a rock 'n' roll record, but no one has ever used it. And with 'devils,' we don't necessarily mean that goat-headed figure' [that most people think of when they hear the word] — our 'devils' refers to something else... It can mean, for example, the guys in this band."

"Devils" track listing:

01. Devils
02. Feel Berlin

First Inferno Metal Fest Confirmations Announced

Arcturus, Enslaved, Red Harvest, Grimfist and Madder Mortem are the first confirmed bands for the U.K. edition of the Inferno Metal Festival, set to be held on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at The Underworld in Camden.

Commented the festival's organizers, "Inferno Metal Festival's arrangers realize that the international interest has increased with staggering speed and as a result of this we have decided to do an Inferno event in London.

"Since this is an Inferno event, we’ll announce the full festival line-up for 2005 exclusively to the U.K. audience. In Norway this will happen two days later.

"During the day we will in cooperation with Bylarm (Norway's equivalent to 'In the City'), have a press/partner gathering with press-conference, get-together, lots of freebies and more. And of course an eventful musical evening.

Bassist Scott Sorry Quits Amen

Bassist Scott Sorry is the latest Amen member to announce his departure from the group. Sorry's official statement on the matter is as follows:

"O.K. bitches here is the deal. I have decided to leave Amen.

"The first person I met when I joined AMEN was Matty [former Amen guitarist Matt Montgomery]. He, [former Amen guitarist] Rich [Jones], [ex-Amen drummer] Luke [Johnson], and even Poochy, became my family. I love them all dearly and we spent a lot of time in the trenches together. They are my best friends and the only family I knew for two years.

"Staying in Amen would be like staying in a band only for the money without them. They are my brothers and I don't give a fuck about money.

"I, for the most part, had a great time in Amen. I will not lie about that. But life has taken me in a direction in which I cannot afford to play in Amen anymore. I have to be responsible for more than myself now. Yes, Scott Sorry is even trying to be sober now!

"Anyway, those of you that I have got to know over the last two years know that I cherish your friendship and hope you will not judge me illy for my decision. For those of you that I don't know, I am sure that the new line-up is a swell bunch of lads and you will get along fine with them. My time is done, however. And I am the coolest, so it is your own fault for waiting so long to give a fuck!

"Anyway, as the sun sets slowly in the west I bid you a fond farewell. . Scott Sorry is dead, motherfuckers, but this is not the last time you will hear from me! I am now Scott Smoker and fuck y'all that want a piece..."

Krisiun To Release European Mini CD

Krisiun, have been a trademark for musical violence and a steady nominee for the title of the globe's fastest Death Metal act throughout their twelve years of existence. Still, it is high time to reconsider your preconceived notions about the band. "Bloodshed" (recorded 100% analog) may not be a full new studio-album, but it's no less than 8 brand-new tracks (incl. 3 intros/outros) that show a different side of the band. It also includes four re-mastered tracks of their rare "Unmerciful Order" MCD, which was originally released in 1993 and today is being hailed as a cult underground release. "Bloodshed" grinds -- but not solely in the sense of sonic assaults crafted out of insane speed. Without losing any of their intensity, Krisiun went for some mid-paced songs that will surely surprise anybody who thought the band wouldn't be capable combining raw brutality with an ultimate technical edge and pounding groove riffs. Those who are worried about one of the last advocates of the extreme selling-out can be relieved: Unholy compositions like "Slain Fate," "Ominous" and "Visions Beyond" are underlined by the raw fury of the early tracks from "Unmerciful Order": Tracks eight through eleven bear witness that Krisiun have been and will always be a guarantee for ultra-violence. The 7-minute outro "MMIV" shows another side of the band with its spooky, almost 80's horror-film feel. Just make sure not to hit the repeat-button too early on this track. Despite a total playing-time of 40 minutes, "Bloodshed" will be available for the fan-friendly price of a mid-priced CD. About the time "Bloodshed" is released, Krisiun will go out for another round of the relentless live shows for which they are so famous. They will embark on the European "Clash Of Demigods" tour with co-headliners Behemoth and with support from Incantation and Ragnarok. Be warned that blood will be shed...

King Diamond's Manager Announces Warning For CD

The independent distributer in Germany named H'ART Music Vertrieb (not Massacre's main distributer) have a promo sheet in stock for the live album indicating that there's a BONUS CD/Disc available in one of the formats.

The listing reads like this: "LIMITED EDITION DIGIPACK + BONUS CD LIVE 2003," thus making it look/sound like there's a bonus disc included.

THIS IS NOT CORRECT.

Some of you dedicated collectors might try and import this item, and will be very dissapointed. All the releases are identical. There is NO bonus CD in any form in any of the releases. The music purchased will be the same regardless of the format, be it 2CD, Digipack or 3LP set.

Zetro Tells His Side About Leaving Exodus

Former Exodus frontman Steve "Zetro" Souza has broken his silence with regards to his departure from the group. In the following statement, Zetro explains his reasons for leaving Exodus on the eve of their South American tour and offers kind words for his former bandmates, who have recently announced their decision to carry on without him:

To all concerned,

I would like to say first of all, that leaving Exodus was a very hard decision to make. I really wanted everything to work out in the long run. But lots of things came between us. Back when Paul [Baloff] died, I stepped in as a favor to the band, who had prior commitments and shows already booked. At that point in time, I was willing to play these shows, but was still reluctant to rejoin the band on a full-time basis. After these shows, I realized that I still really enjoyed performing and playing the live shows. I then decided to give Exodus a second go at it. We recorded the album and it was a great record. I thought it was my best performance and work of my entire career.

Now came the touring, and juggling a family, a full-time job, and Exodus… It was never easy on me. In fact, while being on tour, I loved playing live on stage to our great fans around the world. But that was only a small part of being on the road, for it's a long day, every day out there. Too much time in between shows to think about my family back home. I have three wonderful kids and a great wife, which were miles away from me. And I still had many social and financial worries, with way too much time to think about everything while away from home during the downtime in between shows on the road.

Practice Space Burglarized As Livewyre Plays Gig

Livewyre roared through heavy metal music in Lansford on Sunday night, but members might have played the blues had they known a burglar was in their Allentown practice space.

That night, more than $4,000 in instruments, sound equipment and other electronics was stolen from the practice room, said Mike Kingcaid of Fountain Hill, the band's lead singer and guitarist.

"There is no lower life form on earth than a … thief," he said.

A police report states the equipment was taken from 1209 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, where Kingcaid said the band, which plays '70s- and '80s-style hard rock, rents space to practice.

Band members left town around 7:30 p.m. to get to their show, and they didn't return until almost 4 a.m., police said.

That's when they noticed dirty footprints, Kingcaid said. "I got in there and started looking around," he said, and realized things were missing. "You get that sickening feeling, you know?" he said.

Items taken included three guitars, a bass guitar, two soundboards, recording equipment, a DVD player and a cordless phone and answering machine, police said.

Kingcaid, who helped found the band about four years ago, said most of the missing items belonged to him, and he's now waiting to hear back from his insurance company.

The bright side, Kingcaid said, was that the band had taken a lot of its equipment to its show.

Plus, the burglar left behind most of the band's stage equipment, Kingcaid said, so Livewyre will continue to rock on.
