Megadeth Announce US Tour & Line-up

With their new CD "The System has Failed" hitting stores this week (Sanctuary Records) and its first single and video “Die Dead Enough” impacting airwaves, Meagdeth has announced dates for a U.S. tour. The 22-date trek by the iconic hard rock group kicks off October 23 in Reno, NV and wraps November 20 in Minneapolis, MN. Joining group founder and frontman Dave Mustaine will be Glen Drover (King Diamond/Eidolon) on guitar, James MacDonough (of Iced Earth) on bass and Nick Menza returns to the group on drums. The video for “Die Dead Enough” made its debut on MTV’s “Headbangers Ball” this past weekend and the song is spinning on Active Rock and Rock radio stations nationwide.

Of his touring partners for the “Blackmail The Universe Tour,” Mustaine says, “James is a guy with long hair and a lot of tattoos and is an animal on bass. We like that kind of danger on that side of the stage.” As for Drover, Mustaine calls him the “perfect fit,” and welcomes back Menza, who was in the group from 1990 through 1997.

After re-releasing eight Megadeth albums earlier this past summer, Mustaine returns with "The System has Failed," which Revolver described in a four-star review (October ’04) as “Megadeth’s most vengeful, poignant and musically complex offering since 1992’s Countdown To Extinction…Throw in political themes, apocalyptic lyrics…it’s clear that Megadeth are not just back, they’re paranoid, pissed, and motivated to destroy.”

Tour dates are as follows. More...

Lacuna Coil Become Breakout Artist Of Ozzfest 2004

Lacuna Coil has had an extremely successful 2004 as they emerged as this year’s Ozzfest breakthrough artist and watched their latest album, "Comalies," break the 150,000 SoundScan mark in the U.S. The group consistently outsold every Ozzfest band (minus Slipknot) each week with the oldest release of any second stage act. Even mainstage acts Black Label Society, Superjoint Ritual and Dimmu Borgir weekly album sales combined were surpassed by Lacuna Coil's weekly sales alone. All of this coupled with the commercial radio support of their latest single “Swamped” helped the album even crack the coveted Billboard Top 200 chart at #178. Comalies continues to SoundScan a steady 5,000 units per week.

Lacuna Coil was just hailed as one of the “Ten Bands To Watch” by Rolling Stone magazine in their next issue, which hits newsstands on Sept. 23rd. Cristina Scabbia (vocals) also caught the attention of Stuff magazine who dedicated a two-page feature to her in their September issue. The group’s hit single, “Swamped,” is currently featured on the "Resident Evil: Apocalypse Soundtrack" and the Vampire: Bloodlines videogame.

New W.A.S.P. Album Tracklisting Revealed

Sanctuary Records has released the complete track listing for the new W.A.S.P. album, "The Neon God Part 2: The Demise" (view cover), due on September 28 via its Metal-Is imprint. It is as follows:

01. Never Say Die
02. Resurrector
03. The Demise
04. Clockwork Mary
05. Tear Down The Walls
06. Come Back To Black
07. All My Life
08. Destiny's To Come
09. The Last Redemption

W.A.S.P. mainman Blackie Lawless was ardent in his mission to make "The Neon God Part 2: The Demise" as potent and intense as its story dictates, so much so, that he was flying back & forth between venues and his Fort Apache studios in Burbank, CA during the first two weeks of the band's summer tour. "The Neon God" addresses a tale of deep emotional quandary and revelation, the intoxication of power and the consequences of corruption. It is a story that everyone has experienced at one time or another — the need to belong, the quest for love, the desire for control, and the futility of vanity. Lawless, forthright and ever evolving as a musician and a human being, drew influence for the album's concept through extensive observation of the world and numerous soul-searching journeys through the deserts of America's Southwest. A second leg of "The Neon God World Tour" is anticipated to commence in early October.

Motley Crue Complete New Demos

Here's an update from Nikki Sixx:

Well, Stevo Bruno at Klown Records and I have finished up the production on the Motley demos. I feel real strong about the songs. They're on their way to Bob Rock to get his input. I look forward to re-recording the songs now that everybody will have a clear understanding of the direction of the music.

Next up is finishing the writing for the Brides. Me and Tracii have so much music, now we just need to finish what weve started.

My book deal for "The Heroin Diaries" is done. I changed publishers half way thru the deal and am now with Simon & Schuster. There will be a DVD attached to the release of it which will feature original music. So to say I have a busy next few months is a understatment.

I have hired the top litigator who I am using to sue Vans to dropkick Dragonfly Clothing as well. Can you believe I have to do this shit to get paid? I seem to attract people who believe they can take advantage of me, but like Elektra Records found out.. I have the devil runnin' thru my veins and I will not allow people to rip me off.

You must stand up for yourself if you wanna have any self-respect in business. But to be honest, it really sucks and isnt my idea of being an artist. But artists must stand up for themselves...or these companies will continue to rip off artists.

Hammerfall Finish 1st Week of Recording Sessions

Hammerfall guitarist Oscar has posted the following message on the official Hammerfall website:

The first week of recording have gone extremely smoothly! Anders played very well - as usual - and Charlie has managed to make the drum sound even better than on "Crimson Thunder"! Magnus has recorded all the bass guitar now, as well, so things are progressing really nicely; the ground work is laid, and in a most promosing way, indeed. We still have a long way to go - more than two months remain until the mixing and mastering is all done - but I have a great feeling about this!

I have started writing a diary of all the important and unimportant stuff that I deem appropriate for web publishing is included, and it will come with fresh pictures, like you are used to.Hopefully, Fredrik can put it up over the weekend, so you can read all about the happenings during these first two weeks. Stay tuned!

Exodus Postpone South American Tour

There are two reports circulating regarding Exodus' postponement of their South American tour. The first is diplomatic and comes from Nuclear Blast Records:

As recently released Exodus have had quite a major line-up change with the firing of lead singer, Steve “Zetro” Souza and due to complications with replacement singers Exodus have had no choice but to postpone the current dates until they can return to South America in late October with touring singer, Steve Esquivel, of Skinlab.

Top Link Productions did a phenomenal job creating a successful tour for Exodus fulfilling all of their obligations and providing the band with a great run of dates. Therefore Exodus would like to extend their deepest apologies to Top Link Productions, local promoters, booking agents and all Exodus fans planning to attend.

Please keep checking Exodus' website www.ExodusAttack.com for the rescheduled dates. Below are the dates that are currently postponed.

09/17 - Buenos Aires / Argentina - Replica Cromañon
09/18 - São Paulo / Brazil - Via Funchal (Bonded By Blood Thrash Fest)
09/19 - Recife / Brazil - Clube Internacional do Recife
09/24 - Ribeirão Preto / Brazil – Apoteose
09/25 - Belo Horizonte / Brazil - Lapa Multishow

The second statement comes from the band itself and is as follows:

The tour has ben postponed until October due to the fact that John Miller is an insane idiot and had one of his mental breakdowns the day before we were to leave. We knew he has a history of this kind of shit but we never knew it would happen this quickly. It usually takes him longer to shoot himself in the foot. It had nothing to do with Zetro not going. All shows were on until John self-destructed. I will be updating everyone soon on the details of the South American tour. But please don't blame the promoters, there were just too many changes to make to try to pull this off and we had no intention of going down there and embarassing ourselves with John Miller, so my apologies to our fans in South America. We will return soon.

Unearth Update From Trevor

Unearth arrived home from Ozzfest but the band has not stopped working. Unearth are gearing up to practice for their first headline tour.

To say the least, guitarist Ken Susi is very enthusiastic about the tour. "It is invigorating to finally have our first headline tour; we are so excited to play our first full set."

Unearth just came off of the biggest tour, this summer's Ozzfest 2004 - "I must admit that we learned a lot watching the other headline bands this summer, Ozzfest felt like the proving ground for us and I am confident that we are a better band from the Ozzfest experience and are now a more professional career band. Expect to see Unearth at its best we will play our hardest every night."

Vocalist Trevor Phipps is psyched by the lineup and the fact that the band are headlining a club tour, " I am stoked about this tour package, I will get to watch three amazing bands every night; I am also thrilled to play small clubs again - this is where we come from."

Unearth update from Trevor:

Our show at Brew Ha-Ha’s in Winston-Salem, North Carolina has been changed to Ziggy’s. Our tour will now be playing with Shadows Fall, The Haunted, Candiria and All That Remains on that date only. Tickets should be on sale for all the shows on our upcoming US headlining run. Make sure to pick up your tickets before they are gone. Tour starts in two weeks! See you all soon.
