Sludge Sign With Mighty Music

After recently releasing the latest albums with Panzerchrist, Nephasth and Anasarca, Mighty Music are now back and proud to announce a new signing in shape of the well acclaimed Swiss extreme metal act Sludge. Sludge is a hard band to catagorize. Not exactly death metal, not hardcore or doom metal. It's somewhere in between. Heavy, groovy and sludgy as fuck. A mix of Entombed, Celtic Frost, Carcass and the early material of country fellows Samael (of which string-man Makro is also a member). "Yellow Acid Rain" was recorded in Switzerland and mixed by Fredrik Nordström at the Fredman Studio. A studio where the band previously have recorded and mixed their material. "Yellow Acid Rain" is all about what a havey and very extreme metal album should sound like.

Green Carnation Part Ways With Drummer

Green Carnation, the Norwegian band featuring Tchort (a.k.a. Terje Vik Schei, ex-Emperor, Satyricon, Einherjer), have parted ways with drummer Anders Kobro. A replacement has been found in the shape of Tommy Jackson, a longtime fan and friend of the band. Tchort says:

Anders is a metal drummer and most of all, an extreme metal drummer. We didnt feel that his drumming skills was what Green Carnationneeded for the two last albums, his skills are of much more use in a band like Carpathian Forest, where he still plays. We want the drums to play a more important role than they have for the two last albums, and therefore we have agreed with Anders Kobro for him to step down, and for Tommy Jackson to take his place. We believe that the band will benefit and progress from this change, as Tommy is more of the drummer we want in the style we are playing. Kobro agrees to that.

So, no matter how standard it may sound, it is for musical differences that our ways part with Anders Kobro, but obviously he played an important role on the three albums he did with the band and there are mixed feelings with this change, but we all believe it will be for the best.

We believe that it would be best if the news are breaked sooner than later, as we want the album to be in focus when the time of release is closing in and not a member change, so feel free to announce the line up change already now.

Green Carnation will still play the two confirmed shows on October 2nd (Lost Souls Festival, headliner, Kristiansand) and 8th (Tribute, headliner, Sandnes), with Tommy Jackson on drums.

Green Carnation's new album will be released in early through The End Records in the U.S. and Season of Mist in Europe.

Darzamat Complete Work On Fourth Album

Poland's Darzamat have completed work on their fourth album, "Semidevilish."

The follow-up to last year's "Oniriad" was recorded at Mamut Studio with producer Maciej Mularczyk and contains 10 songs plus an intro, for a total of 50 minutes of music. Also included with the CD will be a concert video for the song "Era Aggression", filmed at the ninth edition of the "Brutal Assault" festival in the Czech Republic, where Darzamat appeared directly before Cannibal Corpse.

Commented Darzamat vocalist Flauros, "This is the hardest material Darzamat has ever made and at the same time, the first step in a new direction which is to open a successive chapter in band’s history. 'Semidevilish' is a confirmation that Darzamat still presents metal music never deprive of feelings, hate, anger, passion and experimental approach."

"Semidevilish" is scheduled for release before the end of the year via Avantgarde Records. It will be the group's first album to feature new members Golem (drums, ex-Dragon), Spectre (keyboards) and Nera (vocals, ex-Midnightdate).

Vinnie Paul Calls Cold Singer An Asshole

In the latest installment of his "Ask Vinnie" column in Revolver magazine, DAMAGEPLAN/ex-PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul was asked which bands he used to get into fights with on the road, and which ones he would want to fight if he had the chance.

"We always made friends with all the bands we ever toured with," Vinnie responded. "The only asshole I ever had to throw out of my house was Scooter Ward of COLD. The night manager had to kick his ass. Then I was nice enough to send him his cell phone the next day, but he gave me a bogus Federal Express number and I wound up taking that bill in the head. Thanks Scooter — jackass!"

Slipknot's Craig Jones To Miss Shows In Europe

SLIPKNOT's "samples and media" guy, Craig Jones #133 (a.k.a. #5), has been forced to sit out the early portion of the group's current European tour due to a "medical emergency." The band's official statement on the matter reads as follows:

"We've made it thru 10 years without a member of SLIPKNOT missing a single show, but due to emergency medical reasons one of our brothers has been forced to return to Des Moines, IA.

"Craig Jones #133 ( #5), has been suffering incredible pain during the first week of our European tour and has been unable to eat or sleep properly. Therefore, a decision was made for him to return to the States for emergency dental surgery.

"We made a band decision to continue the tour without Craig and to not let our European fans and friends down. The shows and fans, on this tour, have been some of the most insane of our career and we look forward to that each night.

"We expect to have 133 rejoin the tour within the next 3-4 weeks, but until that time Sid Wilson will be handling the majority of his parts.

"We'll miss him on and off stage and wish him the best and a safe return."

Interview With Soulfly's Max Cavalera

Recently I had gotten the chance to interview one of my all-time favorite musicians/vocalists Max Cavelera of Soulfly. This was amazing to do since I’ve been a big fan of Max’s since way back when he was in Sepultura. I found Max and his wife both to be extremely nice and very down to earth as well. Anyway, without further adieu here is my interview with Max Cavalera: More...

Download 4 Resistant Culture Tracks

Jesse PIntado of NAPALM DEATH/TERRORIZER recently recorded several new tracks with tribal grindcore/metal band Resistant Culture. The tracks are like a mix of NAPALM DEATH, DISCHARGE, MINISTRY, AND BOTH THROWER woven into traditional Native American chanting, flutes, and rattle.

This band has deep roots back to the beginning of grindcore in L.A. Originally called RESISTANT MILITIA, the band was combining punk and metal music and subculture back during the early days of FEAR FACTORY, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, TERRRORIZER, ETC. It has survived many line-ups and over the years and now has come full circle with the addition of several tracks with long time friend Jesse Pintado.

You can check out 4 of these tracks here
